Personally, I think the Red Sox winning a World Series is one of the signs of the Apocalypse! I wonder if we'll see that in the Watchtower??

Jehovah's Witness here.
by nimzo ini have a question about my religion.
when people turn apostate, why do they seem kinda... weird.
they turn back to false teachings and their bible knowledge even proves that.

Wow, that is quite a story. Hopefully she'll quit the JW thing and be normal. Hell, a little sex now and then probably wouldn't hurt, either. I hope it works out for the both of you.

Well, let's all agree that God has a name. We know that the Hebrew Tetragramaton, which loosely translates into the letters YHWH, has come to be pronounced in English as Yaweh or Jehovah. We ALL know this. We all know who God is and who Jehovah is and that these two words are interchangeable. If one of us says the word God or the word Jehovah, we are all on the same page. Let's all agree: Jehovah is God; God is Jehovah. Nimzo, I think we all know this and agree to that. Let's not forget why we're here, however.
There are those among us that choose to "Gulp down the camel but strain out the gnat". The issue that you are fixated on right now is just nitpicking. I don't think that any of us left the organization because of the number of times the word Jehovah is used in the bible or because we disagreed with any solid biblical teachings. I think most of us did and still do love God. The reason we left the organization is because we had a problem with the organization, not with Jehovah. We saw things going on and things being taught that our conscience wouldn't allow us to accept any longer. There have been too many changes in doctrine and too many things swept under the carpet, as it were, for us to continue supporting the organization. Just read the posts on this board and see for yourself what some have experienced! See how so many have stumbled in their faith due to the actions of those who didn't act in the way Christ commanded! Honestly, even if half of everything posted on this site were lies, that would still leave an overwhelming amount of topics that should be cause enough for concern.
Nimzo, we have realized that it is still possible to love Jehovah without having to love what some of us have come to believe is a corrupt organization. We don't hate you or want you or any of the currently practicing witnesses to have to do anything differently or do anything that you don't want to do. But, the fact that you've come here is a sign that you might be looking for something. I can't tell you what that something is, and maybe you don't even know what it is yet. But, we're all here whenever you want to talk. Do what your heart tells you to do. Do what your faith tells you to do. In the end, it's all a matter of faith and what you believe in.

So hard to spot the few with flair and talent in the organization
by truthseeker inhave you noticed how hard it is to spot people in the organization with flair and talent; you know, .
the people who can sing, dance, write, draw or have interesting intellectual conversations about life.
when i go to the hall, i hear the same boring conversations over and over again.

Men & Women and... Garbage Day
by jeanniebeanz ingarbage day at my house is always a harrowing experience... the night before, hubby will go through the house gathering anything that looks to him to be trash.
having gotten in trouble before for throwing out some old but precious 'thing' he will now ask, "you going to keep this?
" or "why are you hanging onto this junk?

I often question Garbage Day at my house. Around the house, I have to help cook, clean, wash, fold, dust, etc.... but my wife has NEVER, EVER taken out the garbage. Ever. Not once. Even though I have a severe bad back problem and many times it practically kills me to drag that can to the curb. I don't even think she knows what day the garbage truck comes!
Why is that? I know so many guys that are married and have to "share" in the household duties, but their wives never "share" in taking out trash, yardwork, auto repair, home repair, etc.....
My fantasy come true: It's Tuesday night at my house and I'm just getting ready to drag the trash cans out to the curb, and my wife hops up and says "No, honey, let me do it and when I'm done, I'll be in the garage changing the oil and rotating the tires on your car!"
It's amazing what men fantasize about, isn't it? Hee Hee.

What is most important for a typical JW
by Nosferatu inwhat, in your opinion, is most important thing for a typical jw?
what affects him in his day to day life?
what causes them to make the decisions they do?
-

The most important thing for most JWs is trying to make everyone think they're good little JWs while living a secret "normal" life.

Flair? Did somebody say flair? Oh, damn, I forgot to wear my 13 pieces of flair to work this morning! If anybody gets the film reference, that's funny. If you don't, you just think I'm a dork. Hence the screen name!
