I haven't hunted in years because I haven't had a need to or a place to store the meat. But, if opportunity arises and an empty deep freezer awaits, I have no problem thowing a few fish, deer, turkeys, ducks, etc in there for me to eat. I do have just a little problem with people who hunt just for the thrill of the kill. Just like I wouldn't go to the grocery store just to buy a steak so I can mount it above my fireplace, I don't hunt just to use the dead body of the animal I slaughtered as a home decoration.

Questions From Readers: Hunting/Fishing
by inkling in.
i guess this means you can maim and kill animals all you want, just so long as you don't enjoy it too much.. sorta like being a isrealite warrior who makes a living killing people but yet is commanded to "hate violence".

If blondes really were that dumb...
by WTWizard inthis brings up a mystery.
there is a long-standing myth about blondes being so dumb.
then, why don't more of them become jehovah's witlesses?

Personally, I think a woman is attractive no matter what color her hair is. But, I do get just a tad turned off by all of the cookie cutter blondes out there. It's so cliche! Just be you! If you're a real blonde, hey great! If not, that's great, too. Imagine if all of the guys started dyeing their hair blonde? That would be too weird.

President Bush. He worries me greatly. But, sadly, he is better than any of the democrats they've been throwing out there for the last 10 years or so. The man can't even say the word "nuclear" for cryin' out loud! Leader of the free world and can't even pronounce the word! Still..... if it comes down to Hillary or Any Other Person On The Planet..... I'd probably pick the snail.

Many colleges offer night time, weekend and web-based classes. Some even offer special discounts for people like yourself who left the rat race to raise a family and now want to resume your carreer and/or education. Where I work, they actually pay for people's classes. That's the best of both worlds. You can have a job that pays you to work and then pays for you to go to school, too. :)

The reasons that blondes are dumb have to do with being attractive. Most attractive girls, but particularly attractive blond-haired girls are favored from an early age and are told they are pretty. This is reinforced their entire lives by family, friends and strangers. They get treated better simply because of their looks, so they do not have the same reason or motivation to build their intelligence or personality. Their good looks get them better jobs. Don't shoot the messenger; there have been intensive studies to confirm this. I can't remember where I read it, but if I find it I'll follow up with a link.
Now, for my theory as to why blondes may not become witnesses or tend to not stay a witness as long as others..... Maybe because the witnesses prey on people who have little self esteem and either poor or nonexistant networks of friends and family. Most blondes do not suffer with this problem. (see above). They usually have an overabundance of self esteem and an overinflated feeling of worth. They aren't easily preyed on by a group of fringe religious lunatics who shower them with love and attention to gain their favor. Blondes get that from everybody all the time! It's nothing new to them! The trick just doesn't work. And I think blondes might tend to leave the witnesses in droves because it is BORING! After all, blondes have more fun! Plus, they can attract a much wealthier husband outside of the witnesses because most witness men are dead beat poor people because they have no self esteem or education.
By the way, I started out life as a redhead, but I'm pretty much blonde now. And no, I was never showered with attention because I am fat. And male. Plus, now I'm balding. Life sucks. Oh, if only I were a hot, skinny blonde chick. Life would be so grand..... Hee Hee.

I know about lights. For instance, when the light changes colors, you either hit the gas or hit the brakes. When the "light" changed in 1995, that's when I mentally hit the brakes. If you change core doctrine, it is no longer the same religion. They lied to us all then tried to change the story. Truthfully, Jehovah's Witnesses aren't even in the same religion that they were 20 years ago. Most of their core doctrines have changed. Stupid asses. All of the governing body should fall down a flight of waxeds steps and break their hips. It's the least I can hope for.

There's always, always, ALWAYS the theme of "quit your job, sell your house, go pioneering..." but my question was always "and then what?" What does it get you? What happens afterward? Are you ever done? Who takes care of you after years of faithful service and you have no home or money to survive on in your old age? It is so stupid! It always pissed me off. I last went out if field service over 10 years ago. It was just as pointless then as it is now. In fact, it's probably even MORE pointless now! Who give a flying fornication about listening to religious nuts banging on your door on a Saturday morning? Don't the JWs get it? They are thought of as nothing more than a Saturday morning annoyance to the rest of the whole damn world? They are on the level of ants at a picnic or flies in your kitchen. Nobody views their "work" as important! People who spend their lives working for the watchtower bible and tract society are pissing their lives away to be recognized as nothing more than an annoyance and a joke for the whole world to laugh at. They contribute nothing. Useless. I couldn't live my life that way.
Here's a clue to all witnesses...... Quit going to meetings, quit pioneering and get two jobs! That way you'll have lots of money to take care of yourself so I won't have to by paying taxes for your welfare and food stamps. And the extra money you have can be used to really help people in need! It's a win-win. Just stop banging on working people's doors on Saturday morning to disturb the one good morning of sleep a week that the average working person gets.
Whew! Did I rant long enough? Did I mention that the Watchtower pisses me off? OK.... Good. :)

Are you a victim of the Sub Prime lending fiasco?
by katiekitten inive been reading some terrible reports about the american mortgage market, and the subprime mortgages aimed at people with poor credit ratings and poor ability to pay.
(and of course poor ability to understand complicated and deliberately obscure contracts).. frankly the whole thing is exploitation in the extreme, imo.
there was one report on the bbc about how poor black areas were targetted, and people were given an introductory offer of 1% and not told that this offer lasted only one month before ballooning to 17 or 18%.

I dated a girl that worked for a mortgage broker in the late 1990s- early 2000s when the mortgage boom was on. The broker she worked for often falsified income documents, home appraisals, etc. just to get somebody in a loan. ANY loan, but particularly one that earned that broker the most commission possible. After all, the broker got their commission up front and they weren't particularly concerned about the residuals. Now, that broker is long gone, but they got their commission. And the bank has to forclose on a lot of these people, because they can't pay.
But, let me say this..... unless the lender is not adhering to the conditions of the loan contract that both lender and borrower agreed to at closing, IT IS THE BUYER'S FAULT IF THEY GOT SCREWED!!!!!
So, with the exception of the lender not honoring the contract, the stupid borrower got what the stupid borrower deserves for not researching and attempting to understand what was going on with the biggest investment they will ever make in their entire life! Oh, and if it can be proven that the lender isn't honoring the contract, the borrower has one hell of a lawsuit! But usually the borrower simply defaults.
The banks (for the most part) are the ones getting screwed because a stupid broker or borrower (or usually a combination of the two) bit off more than they can chew. So the bank has to go through the expense of foreclosing and then remarketing that house. Just a little secret: The bank does not want your house. They want their money. The interest from the loan over the cost of a 30 year loan can be almost 3 times more than what the house sold for to begin with.
I just bought a house. The mortgage broker told me that I qualified for a $300,000.00 loan. I said that I only needed $133,000. They kept pushing me telling me that I could qualify for a much bigger loan and get a much bigger house. I told them that it didn't matter what I qualified for, I knew what I was prepared to pay, and if they couldn't help me, I'd go elsewhere. So I did. I ended up with around 10 seperate good faith estimates from several lenders before I ended up with a very good interest rate on a house that I could afford and the mortgage terms that I wanted. This only happened because I researched and negotiated. If I took the first offer or contract that was put on the table in front of me, I would have made some mortgage broker's Christmas! But, I was smart and studied and researched for years before taking the plunge. Nope, no adjustable rate for me. Nope, no prepayment penalties for me! Nope, no baloon payment at the end of my mortgage! Nope..... none of that crap. Also, let me say that I could have gotten a house years ago, but I waited because I had some financial trouble. I ended up in bankruptcy when I was a single dad trying to care for an infant daughter. Yes, I could have gotten a subprime loan and I could have been in a new house, but I waited until my financial slate was clean, my income was what I needed and the real estate market turned into a buyer's market.
If people used their brains, exersize a little self-discipline and stop trying to keep up with the Joneses, they wouldn't get screwed. The same thing happens with people's credit cards and new cars. New cars have been getting reposessed for years because of the same kind of impulsive buying and crooked sales people just out for a commission. Nobody cared when it was just cars or credit cards. Now that the same thing happens with houses, people are taking notice.

I live in Georgia and we're under extreme drought conditions. I have resorted to French baths and bathing in bathtubs of beer.
Seriously, I shower 99.999% of the time. I took one bath when we moved to our new house that has one of those gigantic whirlpool tub thingies. I was so happy! At last, a bathtub that can contain the abundant mass that is Dorktacular! Hee Hee. I haven't been in it since then.

Sorry I didn't respond to this post sooner, but I was too busy for the last 4 hours trying to get some customer service from some guy in India! LOL
I worked for a very LARGE company who "outsourced" their tech support to the Phillipines (I called them the Philistines). We had a call center staffed by people who used to actually be technicians building, repairing and operating the product. AND they spoke English. Well, the company thought it would be better to fire all of the experienced, useful, helpful people and transfer the service to the Phillipines. Long story short, the customers were so displeased the company almost lost all of it's major accounts because they couldn't understand anybody on thee phone unless they got out their "You too can spoke Engrish" dictionary. They were also upset because they couldn't get any support outside of the stupid flowchart the Phillipines call center person was reading off of a computer screen and the call center wouldn't forward calls to field technicians when a customer requested service. The company had do cancel the contract with the Phillipines. Well, as it turned out, by that time, most of the tech support people they fired found new jobs and wouldn't come back. Others wouldn't have pissed on their previous employer if they were on fire because of what the company did to them after years of faithful service. So the company's field technicians now have to handle incomming tech support calls as well as actual service calls to accounts.
I have learned the hard way. Before I make a major purchase, and yes this even includes my home mortgage, I always ask for the customer support phone number. I go home that night and call just to see who answers the phone and where they are located. I WILL NOT buy a product that has no support in the country where I live! I want a live, local person just in case I have to shove that piece of crap computer or big screen up their ass because it isn't working. You may save a few bucks buying a product from a company that has outsourced tech support, but trust me it pays off if you ever have a problem. Pay extra so you can get service.
