I'd consider it a privilege to get disfellowshipped for voting. I vote all the time, every chance I get.

Only a few are interested in the truth
by Hiddenwindow init occured to me that most jws, as many other religious people are not really looking for the truth; they are rather interested in certain degree of spiritual or emotional confort or at least the illusion of such confort that can be found in cults or religions.
truth inhabits the realm of the intelect, and the intelect is of little use to religious people.
what do you think?.

With Witnesses, truth is the product, and it's transitional. Witnesses believe they are "right", and that's the concept that motivates them.

But WHY don't they disfellowship bloodtakers ?
by aligot ripounsous inany jw knows that one of the very bad things that a christian must not do is accepting a blood transfusion.
respect for the sanctity of blood ranks highest, in jw theology, on the scale of christian standards, along with not being a murderer, an adulterer, a robber, etc.
in fact, it is the identifying feature of jws for the onlooker.

The corporation policies of skipping the trial and implementing the shunning practice in cases like military service and blood medical treatment are weasel clauses implemented by weasels and carried out by weasels.
The policies are simply a printing business' personnel rules enforced by their human resources department (called "service department").
The Watch Tower Corporation really is a study in confusion. They do business like a publishing/printing business, they say they are a government, and they look like a political party.
The Witnesses I know kind of celebrate when a Witness dies following their enforced bad advice. They actually have the power of life and death and they seem to enjoy showing that power off. The coldest show off I've ever seen was the Awake! magazine cover that pictured the dead kids who were Watch Tower victims. -

None of the sanctions, none of the rewards and punishments work without the approval and support of the Witness people and their shadows, the silent compliant faders.

I don't want any relationships that some pulp paper book printer can destroy. I don't have the will or the energy to try to maintain anything that fragile.

vindication
by ush419 inthe book study for this week in chapter 25 para 24 it reads, "what a shock for those persecuted.
the corpses of the two witnesses were suddenly alive and active again.
it was a bitter pill to swallow for those clergymen to swallow the more so since the christian ministers whom they had schemed to put in prison were free again, later to be fully exonerated.

Exonerated = To free from blame.
Overturning a conviction puts you back in the same position you were before you were convicted the first time. Back in the same position you were in before you were convicted means to free from blame, and to free from blame is the definition of exonerated, so I can't see how a conviction overturned and never retried wouldn't be an "exoneration" by definition.
I understand Rutherford was a member of the bar and practiced law after the overturned conviction. I've not bothered to look for proof of this. Maybe some here have information on that. If it's a fact, then I'm still not sure if it's proof of anything anyway. We have a convicted felon here who got his license to practice law back after he got out of incarceration while still on parole and his case was certainly not overturned nor was his conviction pardoned.
My point (to myself) is that having a license to practice law and being a member of the bar is certainly not proof of not having a felony on record or even of not being on parole.
If the claims are true that all of the conviction counts were overturned, then I'd have to agree that for me that would equal "fully exonerated", and I'd have no problem with that part of the report. -

JW's have been around since Adam and Eve???!!!
by tribalgirl ini was wondering if this was being taught in the congregations.
my sister who is still a jw told me this the other day when i said that the wtbts has only been around for a short time, relatively speaking.. my mother, who hasn't been to a meeting in years, agrees with her.
what is being taught now with regards to this, does anyone know?

You wrote: "JW's have been around since Adam and Eve???!!!"
I have so much fun with this one.
Were the early Jehovah's Witnesses Christians? Were the early Jehovah's Witnesses pacifists? Did the early Jehovah's Witnesses practice polygamy? -

Sense of Humor
by dinah indoes anyone else think that the sense of humor we have has helped us cope?
i was just noticing what a bunch of fun-loving peeps most of you are.. another thing i've noticed here too, people here are actually caring, nurturing, people.
we may get a little snippy sometimes, but all in all i think we are a pretty good bunch---especially to have come out of hell to try and live a full life..

Maybe we traded a sense of doomer for a sense of humor.
