So, we know product to consumer is 8 months. Looks like God's uninspired, S L O W channel. It only took my wife one more month to make a whole human from scratch. I'm glad these guys chose a book printing company and not a bakery to make their money.

Reason for the 8-Month Announcement
by doinmypart inthe question has been raised, "why was the announcement about the congregation bible study announced 8 months before implementation?".
i believe it is simply a matter of how the wts plans things.
the theocratic ministry school schedule comes out in the october km.

Does the Watchtower no longer consider the Bible to be infallible?
by Fatfreek ini believe the following quotes (2005 wt cd library) from watchtower publications may be last that reference the bible as infallible.
*** w01 5/15 p. 6 gods permission of suffering nears its end ***.
moreover, jehovah gods infallible word, the holy bible, shows that we are living in the last days of human rule independent from god.. .

The Witnesses I know teach there is no inspired Bible in existence, that the Bible is not to be studied in a serious way, that there was no reliable Bible before 1950, that the New World Translation needed to be revised, that the name "Jehovah" is a mistake, that the only reliable information comes from the uninspired channel known as the governing body, and that they really didn't need that Tuesday book study after all.

The Watchtower----A Book Publishing Company???
by minimus insure they publish books and they used to do that quite a bit.
but now, i wouldn't primarily call it a "book publishing company".
they charge nothing for the literature.

You wrote: "What is the best question you can ask a witness . . ."
Look at the pocket on his shirt and ask him if he wants the pocket. If he says yes, rip the pocket off and hand it to him. If he says no, rip the pocket off and throw it on the floor.
I'll almost guarantee ya he won't forget it. Five years from now, watch for that story on this board from some new poster. -

using humour with cult members
by besty infolks i needs some input on this subject.. i have 3 family members who are shunning me due to their jw belief system and i would like to prime some non-jw relatives on the use of humour to reach out to them.. its not right imho to poke personal fun or be sarcastic or unkind about their belief system so what do we do?.
any suggestions on how humour can be used in this way?.
garybuss + dogpatch - you guys are the experts - please advise......

I've found the best way to deal with relatives who are shunning me is from a reasonable distance. 100 miles seems to be about right.
Sarcasm is reserved for friends and the friendly.
Believing Witnesses see me as a ridiculer, an opposer, and that's what I am. I actually don't ridicule, I just write Watch Tower policies and practices and they look ridiculous without any help from me. -

After Armageddon clean-up
by golf2 inif and when this entire system collapse's one after another, (time zone) where will the org get the crew to clean-up?
when the world traders centers and additional building collapsed at the world trade center, how many people did it take to clean it up?
i'm talking about experienced engineers and demoltion crew, etc, etc, etc.?

Witnesses are basically a wish club made up of janitors and builders. Is it any wonder that they wish for a gigantic clean up job and a global rebuilding contracting job? These are two things to hope for that the Witness people can understand.

What big changes made by the Borg bothered you when you were in?
by LovesDubs ini came in in 1984. at that time they were beating it into us not to have kids or go to college because the end was soooo near and the generation that saw 1918 was about all dead and we couldnt go much further.
they were touting the whole peace and security cry and then there was the peace and security convention in like 1985 that had us all abuzz after which of course nothing happened.
then they went and changed the definition of the generation in 1994 saying of course since armageddon didnt come after the 80 years had gone by that defined the old one that they basically had to go to plan b...or plan m by now, and that the generation was now everybody since 1918 who has or will live during the time of the end ad infinitum!!!

LovesDubs,
The year text for 1974 was written and printed in 1973. It said "If the fig tree fails to bloom . . . "
The genie was out of the bottle the minute I saw that year text. -

The door to door activity has been very greatly reduced since I took my first door in the early 50's. Now "service" is just a fading footprint left from the days of direct sales. It's gone from being a profitable activity to being a liability. Compared to the 50's and 60's, today's "service" is nothing like it was. Heck I turned in 10 hours a month just from back-call night Wednesday nights and I was only 9 years old.
Our written orders from Jehovah was 40 hours a month for publishers. That was 10 hours a week. My dad took that seriously, and where he went, I went.
Watch Tower Inc. wouldn't loose by quitting service as they do it today. Obviously, service is creating a need for material that the Society isn't being compensated for adequately. Service is an unpopular activity both from a public relations as well as a member appreciation standpoint. So, they have an unpopular activity that's losing money, that's a liability.
They might keep a version of service, maybe for the pioneer types, but I can't see them keeping a mass version going. About the only way to keep a mass version going would by using a third party vendor for materials. They might do that. They've surprised me before.
(Sidebar) I understand Charles Russell's company didn't have scripted meetings or service.
I do look for changes to result in another round of real estate sales and building programs on local levels.
