The Rapidly Emerging "NEW BREED" of Jehovah's Witnesses
by kool aid man06 inthe "ever-changing doctrine" of the watchtower org.
is now creating an "incubator of doubts" that seems to be "hatching" this so-called "new breed" of witnesses.
watchtower publications written with purposeful ambiguous articles seems to be allowing many witnesses to become extremely liberal in their way of thinking.the watchtower org's view, as of late, in making more things a conscience matter, blood issues, voting, alternative service, organ transplants, attending weddings and funerals in churches, celebrating holidays, etc.

It looks to me like the Watch Tower Publishing Corporation is trying to appear more liberal in print while they are becoming more controlling verbally. There's two Societies, one I can study in print and another I can live, and they aren't very closely related.
Two quick examples are the blood medical treatment Bulgaria agreement and the other is the freedom to vote article. The Society writes that they won't disfellowship for blood medical treatment but they will shun members for accepting treatment. They write that it's okay to vote but tell members it's not okay to vote.
They're trying to appear to be giving up control while they are bent on keeping control. Don't look at what they say they do, look at their actual behaviors. -

Bethel is in grand theft auto 4
by yourmomma inwhile playing grand theft auto 4 today i discovered that in the mock new york city of the game called liberty city there is a building exactly where the watchtower would be called instead "clock tower".
each place has a mock name i guess to avoid trouble.
outside of the buildings are shipping carts full of boxes which i guess have magazines and books inside them.

If the Watch Tower came out with their own game, I wonder if it'd be called "Grand Theft Wallkill".

Odd JW visit today
by kwintestal inthere was a knock on the door this morning.
i was expecting a parcel so eagerly went to the door to find a lone man in a suit standing there.
he asked if i spoke spanish, to which i said "no.

If you'da spoke Spanish, he'da said he has some English literature and walked away. It's a new strategy to save on literature printing expenses.

I would prefer my children to die than to have them Df'd
by lilyflor ini was still in the "troof" a couple of years ago when my mom said that to my face, in front of my husband no less.. he was a jw as well, he couldn't believe it.
my reply was "well i will give my life to save my children and if god sees fit to punish me for that - that's his choice".

"I was still in the "troof" a couple of years ago when my mom said that to my face . . . "
That'd be the last time that bitch saw my face in this lifetime! I just plain don't put up with crap like that! -

Are active JW's seeing the light?
by boyzone ini ask this because i had a strange experience this week.
for a brief bit of background knowledge i'm being shunned like most on here, but i see witnesses every day in my place of work and at the school gate, there's no avoiding them, and like many of you, i've found it really hard to get over the hurt and heartache this has caused.. yesterday my mum (an active witness) went into hospital to have a tumor removed (successfully) as i'm the only daughter nearby to help, the other witnesses were asking the elders what they were supposed to do if they wanted to visit my mum and i was at her bedside, should they talk to me or turn round and go out again.. one elder said to do that would be utterly ridiculous, of course i should be spoken to.
he was very annoyed even at the suggestion.

I've seen Witnesses behave cordially when trapped. Trapped is the context of the hospital visit. Then, when they are not trapped, they go back to being regular Witness sphincters. I'm not around Witnesses much. I'd rather grieve a loss than be around mean people.

Something I Never Understood About The Importance of Meeting Attendance
by minimus inwhy is it soooo important to be a regular meeting attender when you can read the publication simply, at home?
they don't want you elaborating on the material.
they don't encourage doing extra research.
-
garybuss
So what's the deal about meeting attendance??
Accountability, monitoring, inventory . . . the Witnesses used to be the sales people, now they're the customers. The only way the Society can close on them is at meetings and rallies. The Society closes for acceptance of their own authority, they close for volunteer labor to work for them, they close for donations to be sent to them, they close for submission to their speculations, and they close for a commitment to attend the next meeting.
Meetings are a capsule of customers who being sold, and sold, and sold . . . It'd be a little like a Tupperware club with two 2 hour sales parties a week without the snacks and without the coffee that required attendance or your parents, your children, and your friends won't talk to you again. One difference is Tupperware makes sense, and it's useful. -

How much do WT & Awake mags cost?
by kzjw ini've heard it said that publishers/pioneers have to pay for the publications they distribute.
what is the price they pay?
-
garybuss
Nothing the Watch Tower Publishing Corporation does costs them anything, it all pays. Whatever scam they're using to get cash from people it's working. They used to charge me 3 cents for one magazine and the next thing I know they got a billion bucks in the bank and they're belly pushing my three year old son and me away from a vending machine.

How long did it take...
by Honesty infor you to get rid of that 'new personality' and get back to normal when you left the jw's?
-
garybuss
I never had a "normal", I was raised as a Witness. All I knew was the Witness culture, it was my core beliefs. All I've been able to do is get an education and try not to make the same mistakes again. I'm a work in progress.
