"BE OBEDIENT TO THOSE WHO ARE TAKING THE LEAD"
(Keep Yourselves In God's Love, WTB&TS 2008 p. 48
This begs the question: Are Jehovah's Witnesses following "men"?
The Watchtower June 15, 2007, pages 26-30
17 "This includes our being willing to obey directions from those who are taking the lead in true worship, though they are imperfect."
Jehovah's Witnesses always told me that they do not follow men, that they only follow Jehovah and Jesus. If Jehovah's Witnesses are to "obey" those who are "taking the lead", who are those "taking the lead" leading . . . and who did they "take" the lead from? The leaders are not "in" the lead, they "take" the lead.
If Jehovah's Witnesses are not following men, they can't be following the men taking the lead. So who is following those men taking the lead if not Jehovah's Witnesses? And why would Jehovah's Witnesses need to "obey" a man they are not following?
Let's see if I have this straight. The Governing Body "takes the lead", we are repeatedly told. The Jehovah's Witnesses do not follow men, only God, we are even more repeatedly told. So, whom does the Governing Body lead? If they have no followers among the Jehovah's Witnesses, where do they have followers? Do they lead an empty procession with no people in it at all? What kind of leader has no followers? (Robert V Frazier)
my da announcement was last tuesday, so i have been on the official jw shun list for about a week now.... i am curious how you handle shunning.my situation:.
i have spoken with my family (my parents and 1 brother) and discussed whether they will shun me.
i explained that biblically they should not shun me since i am not an antichrist, and i have not rejected the teaching that jesus cam in the flesh.
"How do you handle ... being shunned?"
What's to handle? I grieved the loss that wasn't really a loss and now I enjoy it. I'm not shunned by anyone important to me. If they were important, they sure as heck aren't important any more if they shun me.
The shunning practice is a good inventory. It's a good way to see who I want to be around and who I don't. With the Witnesses and their bad behaviors, I have a one strike and you're out forever policy. Once a dog bites me, I never go back in that yard again.

there are continuing rumors about changes that are going to be made in the elder arrangement.
while these are still only rumors, i wish .
to repeat that the society must be under pressure to make legally motivated changes to the elder structure.. first, the appointment of elders seems to be much more direct than the appointment of most priests or pastors in common religions.. that might be a problem leading directly to the governing body.. more than that, there is a clearly defined hierarchy going up from local elders thru the c.o.
The JW's are in the KH because they don't like having to make decisions.
That sure describes many long term Witnesses I know. Then there are those who don't like making decisions and resent being told what to do:-)

The elders are appointed by the Watch Tower Corporation(s), based on the recommendations of their employee, the circuit overseer. The circuit overseer runs the congregations, the circuit overseer works for the Watch Tower Corporation(s), The circuit overseer ties the behaviors of the elders (and ministerial servants) and congregations aggregate to the Watch Tower Pennsylvania bank vault.
Seems like I could hit that target in the dark with a straight pin. How much easier could it be? I hope they don't change the current structure. I like it the way it is:-)
hi everyone, i'm not new here just haven't posted in a while.
for those who remember me i'm graduating from college on wednesday!!!!
i'm very happy but there's still a dark cloud (pardon the dramatic-ness) i am still with my non-jw boyfriend of almost three years and i've let my parents know that we want to get married (next month) and they went and told the elders(they did it kinda behind my back) who now want to meet and talk with me!
I wouldn't fake repentance or anything else at Witness city so my parents who ratted me out would still talk to me. Screw em all!
If I need a Witness in my life, I'm gonna do whatever it takes to change the circumstances that maintain that need. If I depend on them for money, I'm gonna get a job, if I depend on them for love, I'm gonna get a dog. I'm not gonna maintain a connection with a Witness.
I've found the best thing between me and Witnesses is distance. 100 miles seems about right.
