Witnesses go to the summer sales rallies (called assemblies), and that resets them. They're like clocks . . . they need to be wound up every now and again.
Considering the end time doom and gloom is the Witness' only product, to me it's amazing they ever let up selling it.

by insearchoftruth inmy wife has been an on again, off again sympathizer of the jws.
she recieved a phone call this past weekend from a sister who had attempted to study with her in the past and all of a sudden she is reading all the wts literature she can on the meaning of armageddon and the topic of paradise earth.
has the wts started a new push on this topic as of late??

I've got two pretty new Sony flat screens, a 36" and a 32", and a couple older ones that work good. I'm inclined not to watch very much TV. I never watch drama and I multitask with what TV I do watch.
I'll replace sets with HD when they fail. If I had local cable I wouldn't mess with converters but I'm in a rural location, so I rely on broadcast stations for all local channels as well as Educational Television that I like a lot.
I'd be more likely to buy into satellite radio. I like talk radio and in summer here we have about 15 stations all broadcasting the same Minnesota Twins baseball game, preempting preferred broadcasting. I'm NOT a baseball fan! -

I did some searching on line and here's what I'm finding: "Zenith DTT900 (or it's clone, Best Buy's Insignia NS-DXA1)" come in as #1 and #2.
I called Radio Shack and they don't have any in stock here. The Radio Shack guy said here there are going to be 5 on air channels broadcasting dual feeds, one in HD and another feed in analog. He said I'd need a converter box with a bypass feature to see the analog feeds.
I called Best Buy and they have 200 Insignias in stock. Maybe I'll start with those two.
Maybe the Monday readers will have some feedback too.

TV Converter Box Choice?
I need some help choosing which TV converter box to buy. I have two United States Government issued converter box $40 coupons good till 9-9-08.
The letter that came with the coupons listed at least 50 different converter boxes that can be used with the coupon. I wasn't expecting having to make that diffused of a decision.
Anybody got any ideas on which converter boxes to buy? I've got some pretty decent newer TVs that I won't replace real soon. I could give a rat's ass if I watch DIY channel in HD. I rely on over the air channels for all local channels.
I have a Direct TV dish but no local cable since I'm out in the sticks in eastern South Dakota.

The CO asked for more contributions

few weeks ago we had the co visit and he told us in the ms and elders meeting that he had never seen a letter from the gb like this one, but then he went ahead and read it.
the letter basically said: "the contributions are down and there is more people in the congregation.

Dropped from my Bible Study like a hot potato

i was also attending meetings, but never went out in field service.
during a recent study, i told the conductor that i didn't believe in the 'annointed' & didn't believe the fds had a 'hotline' to jehovah.

I would see being dropped like any kind of vegetable by a Jehovah's Witness as a good thing any day.
Jehovah's Witnesses are all about the Watch Tower book printing corporation and the men who own it, nothing else! If a person doesn't love the book printing company, there's nothing left of Jehovah's Witnesses to like. Their only purpose is to serve the book printing business, support it, and insure it's profitability.

I wouldn't let my kids within 100 miles of a Witness . . . especially a Witness relative. I did and it was a huge mistake.
My first mistake was marrying a Witness woman. My second mistake was not protecting our children from the environment my stupidity put them in. In my life, Witness relatives are the enemy.
If you value your family, stay way away from the Witnesses. -

The best thing a Jehovah's Witness ever said to me was "goodbye".
Asking a Jehovah's Witness about cults is like asking the chicken house weasel why he's got chicken feathers in his mouth. He's gonna say: "I didn't just eat a chicken!". Hahahaha!! -

Looking for some help about marriage

he isn't a jw but she is (even though she doesnt really go or believe in it), her parents are strict jw's but wont goto their wedding cause of something about being unevenly yoked?
now they both want her parents to go, but the parents tend to think they are not allowed to go.

Your friend is an idiot if he marries into that mess. One of my living rules is never do anything stupid on purpose, there's enough stupid that happens by accident. Marrying into a family of Jehovah's Witnesses is my definition of stupid.
