With the new downgraded Kingdom Ministry format, the Watch Tower Corporation is behaving as if: they expect their numbers to noticeably decline, they're preparing to reduce the focus on sales activity reporting, or both. The former KM activity reports were nothing more than a reminder of the past when the Watch Tower people were actual door to door sales people, and success was measured in numbers of printed publications sold to the public for cash.
Success as a Watch Tower Witness was directly tied to door to door sales activity, both in effort time, and in sales results. Then the focus shifted to recruiting new members in the typical fashion of a pyramid marketing business. Now the focus is on meeting attendance and staying at the right hotel during the district assembly.
Meeting attendance was always stressed but not like now. Now it's a prerequisite. In the 50's and 60's here in the midwestern United States, anybody could help build a Kingdom Hall, there was orchestra music at circuit and district assemblies, there was a piano player at every meeting, Witnesses smoked if they wished, few drank alcohol, and I didn't know anybody who was disfellowshipped before 1962.

Is the WTS About to Massage the Numbers in a huge Way?
by dismayed inobviously with no end-time date being out there right now, the wt to motivate members.
stagnation is the word that comes up frequently on the board here, and a currently active member, i see it permeating the dub attitude.
so this week's study article was interesting in that it potentially expands the area where dubs can count their time.

I was counciled for putting in Pioneer hours and not officially "Pioneering"
by RubaDub ini didn't want to hijack the thread about people having to "wait" until the society approves their pioneer status.. i recall once an elder was shocked that i had done the 60 hours a couple of months but not officially on the pioneer list for the months.
i told him that i didn't need the title, that the purpose was to do the work, not get a title.. i then heard a long lecture about how that was not encouraging to others, etc, etc, etc.. he got rather annoyed when i asked him what the purpose of the preaching work is.
of course he said to spread the good news.

I got in 40 hours a month for years while I was in elementary school. That was the monthly requirement for publishers. My dad took it seriously and he drug my brother and I door to door 10 hours a week. Martin Anderson was the company servant and he made the service meeting last an extra half hour and he gave us a number 10 ass chewing if we didn't make the 40 hours quota.
They had a wall hung sales activity chart on hinges. Once a month after the previous month's activities were pasted on the chart with calendar numbers, Anderson would get up and chew ass. My dad, Anderson, and my Watch Tower relatives were all going to pet lions and eat fruit and live forever. Of course, they're all dead now.
All that missed school work, missed sleep, and missed childhood, all for nothing. Every single Watch Tower thing we sold in the 50's is all in the garbage can. BUT when I look at Brooklyn, Patterson, and the Wallkill communes, I see those nickles and dimes added up. -

Which of the Society's presidents did you like the least?
by donny inwhile i was a witness, i never liked or cared for j.f.
rutherford.
even with the society's whitewashing and trying to make him look like one who was part of the seven trumpet blasts in revelation, i could not stand the guy.

Shunning: A Violation of YOUR Right of Freedom from Religion?
by cameo-d ini really get hot under the collar when i read the stories of ex-jws being told to leave weddings, funerals, and family gatherings simply because the.
wt has overstepped their bounds and passed public judgement on these people declaring them "unfit to be around".. .
these judgements are based on adherance to wt interpretation of scriptures and organizational rules and laws they have devised from this "pick.

I like the Watch Tower Witness shunning and snubbing. I hope they never change it. It's the gift that keeps on giving. Once a Watch Tower Witness starts shunning and snubbing they lose all influence on their victim. In addition, the snubbing is an effective vaccination for many like me, against the possibility of ever wanting to return to associating, on any level, with the Watch Tower people.
I've enjoyed watching the Watch Tower Witnesses make fools of themselves but after a really short while, they bore me. -

The absolute hardest thing in the world for me to accept was me.
Just as a sidebar, I've noticed the one thing a Jehovah's Witness can't stand is indifference. It occurs to me that one reason the Witnesses don't like to talk to me is I'm much better at the art of verbal expression than they are. It occurs to me that a drunk is better at the art of verbal expression than they are. -

Glad he's alive and well. I remember June. I double dated with her and Howard and Kathy Kluender. Yes, ask your dad if he remembers me. I have the pictures to prove we were up in Meadowlands:-)
All my experiences with Loren were good. Nice guy! If he's still a Witness, he just might not like me now.

See them everywhere
by callitquits76 infirst of all let me say hi, ex witness of 19/20 years here - left the borg about 6 or 7 years ago now.. just when i think that i am away from them for good, there is some knock on the door, a familiar face, or something in the media which brings it all back.
how i would love to just let it go and live life to the full without remembering what i went through with the witnesses.. just last week it came back to me again, a knock on the door and i was caught totally offguard.
i made my excuses and basically closed the door in their face but after i lamented on how i should have fought my corner, like i used to when i phased myself out.

" . . . does anybody else here get really ANGRY?"
I might get angry if I could stop laughing. Jehovah's Witnesses are hilarious. I'd rather watch a Witness spin around the stupid tree than go to a movie. The seven trumpets of Revelation were the seven Jehovah's Witness District assemblies from 1922 to 1928, starting with Cedar Point, Ohio and ending with Detroit, Michigan . . . Hahahahahaha!!!!
How could I get mad when somebody comes at me with Cedar Point Ohio out of the Bible??? Hahahaha!!!! http://pl709.pairlitesite.com/freeminds/humor/satire/the-truth-as-i-seen-it.html -

You wrote: "Dude no way! Loren Peterson is my dad."
Way far out! Is he still alive? He'd be about 65 or 66 now. My experience with him was all good. I haven't seen him since '62 or early '63. I think he'd remember me.
