To all,

There have been what I would think are different ideas and views and even some misundertanding of my posts. I'm going to try and clarify it all in a nutshell here. Somethings I will say as I have said will be in contrast to other beliefs but we can agree to disagree, its ok.

The very first post contains the 10 Commandments. I made it as the "Good Test" or standard for people to judge themselves to see if they are good at heart, good by nature, basically good. I did this for several reasons. One is that most people believe they are good. Ask some of your co-workers, family or friends this question and they will say they are basically a good person and maybe they will add they never murdered anyone. So by their own standards they are good. However if somone, anyone, including myself were to be judged by the law of God, the 10 Commandments, we'd all be guilty of breaking them. Who hasn't lied?? breaking the 9th Commandment? The 10 Commandments are not a list to follow to impress God, gain God's favor, earn God's forgiveness for breaking them to begin with. They are not something we can follow better then another person then showing or saying I am now better then you. Why? Because those 10 laws show us our human sinfulness that we are all under sin and God's wrath. The law cannot save anyone. However God has made a way to receive forgiveness, to be cleansed from sin, to be washed in the blood of the lamb (Messiah) who took the sins of the world upon Himself. Then rose from the dead defeating death and now stands at the right hand of power. This is why the once scared disciples who were confused and in hidding because Messiah died. "How could he have died?" they may have asked themselves. But upon seeing the risen Lord Jesus their attitudes changed. They were no longer fearful, no longer in hidding, but with power and great encouragment proclaimed the risen Lord Jesus, even to the point of death. Now why would anyone with first hand knowledge of something such as Jesus' resurrection die to proclaim this story unless true?

For those Christians here, the law acts as a schoolmaster to bring people to Christ. It stops the sinners mouths from justifying themselves and leaves the whole world guilty before God(Gal 3:24, Romans). The law converts the soul (Ps19:7). In the new covenant God writes His laws upon our hearts (Jer 31).

I agree to disagree. We can agree on that? :O)

I don't believe the God of the universe can be compared to Zeus or other Greek mythological gods. Have you read the vast differences? I did a report on the virgin birth of Mary years ago. I had to read extensively on other so called virgin births which some non-Christians had used to somehow prove the virgin birth of Mary really stemed from some pagan believe system. But again there were vast differences and couldn't be thrown into the so called virgin birth folder with the rest of them. But we can disagree.

Next I agree that just because something says its true, doesn't always mean its true. Hey, we agree on another thing! Just like the Book of Mormon written by Joseph Smith. He said something to the effect that, "This was the most correct book on earth..." talking about the Book of Mormon. If I took it at face value its the most correct book on earth. BUT if I began to search to see if it holds up to the claims of the most correct book it fails the test. For example it fails on the archeological evidence. All those people groups, money, buildings and more were never found as read in the book of Mormon. You would think that you could at least find some coins that are in the book of mormon, but no such thing exists. The Church of Jesus Christ of Ladder Day Saints also began a DNS search where they tried to prove the geneology that the BOM mentions. But they brushed that under the rug for lack of evidence. However the Bible is much different. Coins can be found from ancient Rome, archeological digs have shown the Bible was accurate and more. Have you read books like "The Case for Christ" Lee Strobel, "Resurrection" by Hank Hanagraff, there are several good books that contain evidence for the Christian faith. But what would you do with all the evidence for the Christian faith? When I first became a Christian I began reading books, lots of them, I had more time then, then I do now. I read and heard lots of arguments against the Bible and the Christian faith. However as I painstakingly searched for answers I found the Bible always ended up true. TO get into all this with you on the internet would such my life away from me but its something you can do, test and see, look at the arguments from both sides, the best arguments from both sides. Is the Bible sound as far as archeology? Science? geology? prophecy? morality? etc, etc.

Jesus was absolutely good. He was perfect. He was and is the Son of God, the perfect lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world. The Son of God chose to willingly become a man, so He added to Himself humanity, in order to suffer and die on a cross paying for our sins. He gave His own life as a randsom for many. The blood of Christ cleanses us from all sins. Did you know the Jewish sacrifices long ago that took place in the Jerusalem temple that were sin offerings such as a lamb was done over and over again. And these temporary offerings point to the real and true sacrifice which could take away the sins of the people. The former (many lambs sacrificed) was like a type and the later (Messiah) the anti-type. Like if I had a picture of next years Corvette, the pix would be the type and the real car that is available next year is the anti-type. The Jerusalem temple came to an end in 70AD just like Jesus foretold in Matthew 24. "Do you not see all these things? I tell you not one stone shall be left upon another." The gospels, Matthew, MArk, Luke and John all pre-date 70AD.

Following the 10 Commandments doesn't make you or anyone a good person. The law of God isn't meant to be used to make someone good.

I never said education wasn’t good. I meant finishing H.S, then heading off to college and getting your masters degree won’t make for a more moral person. There are plenty of College graduates who made a state prison their home. Rome in the first century was the leading people group, force, in the world. They had the best education systems then out of most others back then. Did education lead them to moral purity? Did the Colosium show it with men, women and children being thrown to the lions? Many who were Christians? Or the way Christians were secured to the top of a pole and tared to bake in the sun during the day with lips sown shut to not upset the spectators walking by. Then at night the tar was lite on fire to light up the road burning Christians alive. But there is also Nazi Germany who was a very well educated country, they were up there in technology. But did their technology or education cause them to become more morally good? How about the Enron company? Very educated people worked there, their morality showed in their actions. Doctors are very educated people. Why do some still chose to abort babies? Have you ever seen the pictures of aborted babies? They look just like little babies, little human beings.

I believe no one is good including myself, except God. But since you don’t believe that, I am trying to follow your view or other peoples view here that all human beings are good. Now in that context if someone is born good by nature yet then does wrong (against their nature), then their once good mature is stained and is no longer absolutely good. Like a white sheet (good nature) hanging on a clothes line gets grape juice (wrong) spilled on it staining it forever. And I know you don't believe this but Adam and Eve were made "good" but because of one sin it all changed.

And yes people can have good or bad motives. In my last post to you I don’t mean to box in anything I said. People who are sinful by nature can have good motives for doing things, just like they could have bad motives for doing other things. I wouldn’t hold to a wooden literal here because only God can judge the heart and motives of people.

We can see good that people do but we don't know other peoples motives for what they do. Some people may do good for selfish reasons. Like a boyscott may help an old lady across the street to receive a bag, not to actually help her across the street. Im not saying this is alsways the case. An employee may go the extra mile at work for a raise or to look go to another. They may not have just gone the extra mile to be a blessing to their company. Bill Gates gave millions of dollars to charities, a good thing to do, but his received a substancial tax break for it. Again what were his motives? I don't know. Politicians do what seems to be good things sometimes but what is the motive? Selfish gain, sometimes we do here about the advantages and things offered to them because of what they did? What I am saying is people sometimes do things not out of the goodness of their own hearts but for selfish reasons.

Next, people who do good things, and there is a lot of them, doesn't mean they are good by nature. Do you think lying is good? I'm not talking about justified lying to a murderer to protect your family from them finding and killing them. Lying in general. Lying at work, exaggerating a story, lying about where you've been, what you do or did, etc, etc. Lying is wrong. If you lie under oath you get justice. Yet why do we lie? Why have you lied? If we are good by nature and we also realize lying is not good, then why do we lie?

If you turn on the news do we actually see all the good in the world? Not really. OJ Simpson is acting out his good nature again, I guess. He will be going to jail. Enron company who lied about a whole lot, and these were well educated people, look what happened to them. Education does really make for an improved good person. Just look to Nazi Germany who had a very well educated people for its time compared to the rest of society. All the people everyday, millions of them who break the laws of driving by spedding or not fully stopping at stop signs. There are laws to the road, why do ppeople break them if they are good? If someone is good would they follow the laws? That would be good. Being good means more then just doing a few good things, it means doing good all the time and never not being good whether in the past, present or future. This is the ultimate idea I see as good. Can anyone of us say we are good?

Lets see then, evidence that is not within the pages of the Bible. All Christian writings, from the early Church until now. Jewish Talmud and writings, also speak of God's holiness. If you don't accept them, the Quran may speak of God being holy. But this isn't the same God of Christianity. Many other religious writings.

What evidence is there that people are really good?
