but i have only made the long term decision to leave and never go back over the past 2-3 years.. it was difficult.
i have family and many friends who i still converse with on a regular basis.. being on the outside now i see what a major farce and a hypocritical state of affairs it all really is.. i often hear the comment "only people in the truth are really happy" and being a friend 'on the outside' many of my associates on the inside are far to easy to reveal exactly what they get up to when they are not at meetings or out knocking doors.. pre-marital sex, drunkenness, nightclubs, dating websites...the list goes on and on.
Whatistruth...I am extremely sorry you are stuck in such a quandry. I have got to the stage in life where I don't see the point in wasting my life on anything which doesn't improve my standard of life. Thanks to the WT Society, I have never put forth the effort in employment or education and now I find myself 30, unemployed with no hope of finding a decent job.
Between 1996-2000 were my strongest, most zealous (or what I'd like to now say "brainwashed") years in the org. I was a glutton for WT Propaganda. I got to the stage where I wouldn't watch any film with swearing or violence. My other passion however was football (or Soccer) as it was called in the US. On Sundays, the CO would organise matches with other congregations. Often these matches became overly competitive and often ended in near-violence. This is no joke, it was true.
To sum it up, one Sunday years ago we had a talk given at our hall by an Elder from a nearby congregation. It was all about the power of prayer and keeping a close relationship with Jehovah. He attended the Soccer match following the meeting and after becoming overly competitive and aggressive during the game looked at the sky and said with a smirk "I had better pray to Jehovah tonight for forgiveness for my behaviour". All the people (including Elders) were in earshot and all laughed with him. I remember thinking at this point (I was 10/11 years old) whether being a JW was serious or whether it was all a joke?
I think the difference between WT propaganda and application is another major issue which made my decision to leave. Brothers and Sisters would often comment how the talk/WT study on Sunday had moved them yet I saw little or no application at all. This again pointed towards that many JW's said one thing and did another. To quote the NWT : "Faith without works is dead".
I am just glad that I am not alone. I still believe in God and Jesus Christ and still put my faith in them. However, the WT Society have already been exposed that they are not God's representatives on earth.
Charles Taze Russell founder of the WT, links to the Satanic Bloodlines and Maisonry, false predictions, blasphemy, broken promises, colluding with the UN, a large mass hypocritical following who live double lives, destruction of the family unit, paedophilia, major changes in blood transfusion policies...I could go on for hours.
Would Jesus Christ affiliate himself with the above? That is why they are not Gods representatives.

I left about 10 years ago - mentally. But I have only made the long term decision to leave and never go back over the past 2-3 years.
It was difficult. I have family and many friends who I still converse with on a regular basis.
Being on the outside now I see what a major farce and a hypocritical state of affairs it all really is.
I often hear the comment "only people in the truth are really happy" and being a friend 'on the outside' many of my associates on the inside are far to easy to reveal exactly what they get up to when they are not at meetings or out knocking doors.
Pre-marital sex, drunkenness, nightclubs, dating websites...the list goes on and on. Then they contact me and preach how they are so happy to be part of the 'truth', studies they have, how many hours they do each month, how they encourage the 'spiritually weak' etc etc in the vain hope to entice me back to such a dark place.
Who are they fooling? Themselves? Do they live a double life? Yes. I have since realised how mentally damaging it was to live two lives. Thats why I had to leave for my own sanity.
Now I live a happy life sure of my own direction in life and not having to listen to the WT propaganda machine. "You will recognise my Brothers by the love they have amongst themselves". All I saw was backbiting, divisions, self-promotion and ego-trips. Jesus spoke about false prophets, wolves dressed in lambs clothing.. the list goes on and all of these terms describe Jehovahs Witnesses and the Watchtower Society to a tee.
Good riddance to bad rubbish.
could those who know about these lay offs give some clear evidence of what has happened, when, to who, any experiences of people effected and to what extent?.
i want to talk to a really good friend about the situation.
he is a young guy who feels he should be doing more for the organisation, and is thinking about giving up a very good career to make a more of his career in the "truth".

I got reproved in 2000 - I felt as if my whole world came to an end. I lost my privileges as a result. I was embarrassed, humiliated and it started the slow fade.
The Elders said that they would support me back to 'spiritual health' but they never did. I remember once being asked to do the gardening at the Kingdom Hall because no-one else wanted to do it. When I refused, an Elder said to me "its a privilege to do the gardening!". I said to him "don't you remember? I don't have any privileges!". He just looked at me in shock!
I look back now and wonder why I got so upset over it all. Time IS a great healer and you'll find yourself.. I would never encourage anybody to leave who wanted to be in it. I left for the simple reason that after my reproof in 2000 I lost all interest. I tried moving to another hall to rebuild my standing, but I still felt the same so it was time to call it a day.

Only recently I discovered that my ex was ill in hospital. I wasn't informed of this until she was discharged. It scares me to death to think of my daughter with this lot. In the UK, we have a thing called PR (Parental Responsibility) which means that I have as much right as my ex with regard to my daughters upbringing.

My Mother is trying to pursue the issue that my ex should be D'fd for what she has done but up to now nothing has been forthcoming. As my ex has appeared on mainstream dating sites (she originally signed up to JW connect but was removed because she was reported for being still married) I imagine that she doesn't attend meetings either.

I am 28 and from the UK. I was baptised as a JW (big mistake) in 1996. I married a 'sister' in 2004 and had a child with her in May 2006.
However, things have turned really sour.
Last year, my now ex-wife walked out of our home with support from the Police, Social Workers and Domestic Violence workers. By chance I returned from work one day to discover her family (her Grandmother in particular) perched outside the local Police station. When I asked what was going on she told me that she had no idea and that I should go away as this was now 'family business'.
Subsequently, my wife and daughter disappeared. On speaking to her Grandmother by telephone, she said that she wasn't involved and wouldn't get involved - she was remaining impartial. She did hint between the lines though that her grandaughter's 'spiritual health' had been at risk so she ultimately condoned it. The next thing I knew was a Solicitors letter landing through my door saying that she was divorcing me on the grounds of Domestic Violence. Then came the allegations - all of which were untrue. She claimed that I had abused my daughter (which was also untrue) and I took her to court to pursue the allegations and clear my name. On the day of the hearing she withdrew all of her lies and backed down over her opposition to me seeing my daughter.
Since then, I have not returned to meetings. My Mother is still a JW and has tried to fight the issue through the Elder's but they have ignored her concerns.
Old JW friends have contacted me and urged me to return to meetings but I have no interest whatsoever. I used to be brainwashed and would go along with whatever the Brothers would tell me. However, I look at their behaviour regarding drink and immorality, the Paedophile problem within the Organization and the way I have been treated by my ex-wifes family. Not once have they ever contacted me to see if I was ok or to apologise. They continue knocking doors, attending meetings and answering up at the Watchtower knowing they have helped to destroy my daughters family.
My ex-wifes Grandmother would wash her childrens and grandchildrens mouths out with soap and water if they didn't do what she said. She would then use Jehovah as her excuse and the scripture about not sparing the rod - yet they call me a child abuser! I'm sickened. She is in good standing too! I would be surprised by that years ago, but these days nothing shocks me about the WTS.
I have now met someone else who is the kindest, nicest person I've ever met. One million of my so called spiritual ex-wife couldn't hold a candle to her.
