  My Moms shepherding call last night re: Paedophiles

  my mom had a shepherding call last night from two elders.. she raised the issue of the paedophile problem within the organisation.. the elder admitted that the problem "was very real" and that at conventions in particular they have all paedophiles present under strict watch by the attendants/watchers - not allowing them to go to the toilet alone.. he also admitted that the elders know all paedophiles who are present at conventions and meetings and that much work 'goes on' behind the scenes to reduce the risk.. however, he did admit that there was nothing that could be done about them and that they were entitled to attend public meetings.

  he said that 'their hands were tied'.. what are your thoughts?.

  I have researched and watched the paedophile scandal unfold over a number of years now so I am within full knowledge of the facts. I did have a number of JW 'friends' on my page and perhaps my recent attack on the JW child protection policies would command a response. Only one of them responded and he was duly slated for his 'defence' of the policy. My Mom (who is still a JW) supported my views and those of the ex-JW's on my page.

  I wouldn't mind, but many who jump out of the box in defence of the WT are rarely active in the faith they assign so much importance to.

  I wouldn't class the person who sent me this as a 'friend'. She supported me through my divorce from her niece but I heard later that she was trying to prise information out of me.

  I did send her a sarcastic reply back. I told her to check her facts and research the subject before she come jumping out of her box at me. I told her that she uses the term 'apostate' so easily. Yet, the purpertrators of these crimes and the ones who support them are worthy of inheriting the kingdom? Are you telling me that your God and Jesus Christ support this conduct? She hasn't replied.

  All I had posted was a recent news article on my page regarding the recent JW paedo scandal in Scotland which led to a number of comments from both ex-JW's and one JW who stuck his neck out to be attacked by defending the policy. I have been out of the organisation for 5-6 years now so my loyalty to it is non-existant however I've retained 4-5 friends who know and respect my views.

  The individual in question is NOT on my Facebook page and has no access to it. So at present I'm trying to find out who the 'snitch' is who has been talking about me.

  Maybe time for a JW clearout I think.

  Hope you are well. It has been brought to my attention that you are not very happy with the witnesses and are running them down on your facebook page.

  I do appreciate how things must be frustrating for you, but I am afraid that I cannot keep in touch with you if this is true. As you know from being a past witness, to run the organisation down is apostasy and I don't want any part in that.

  If this is the way you are going with things, then I would like to take this opportunity to say that it was nice to be in contact with you and I wish you all the best for the future but I cannot communicate with you anymore.

  Am I not entitled to make an opinion on something which has become a major problem? The issues arising via child protection is no secret - there isn't one in the organisation and many children are put at risk. How does this make me or anyone else an apostate?

  Also to hold 'charity status' they cannot discriminate against anyone of a different colour, gender or sexual orientation otherwise they face the risk of losing their membership.

  I'm sickened by the ignorance of these people.

  Sorry, I can't actually post the link...no idea how to do it.

  Some of the comments on there are crazy. The 1975 debacle has been swept under the carpet saying that the Watchtower NEVER intimated that the end would come then. It was just a few JW's who became obsessed with that year and that it was Jehovahs way of removing the non-genuine ones from the organisation.

  The comments are so deluded.

  i would say that the jw's are right on this subject.

  however, i wouldn't be too comfortable if i was them in thinking that this is taking place within the congregation.. i would say that this is definitely happening where god is concerned.

  he is obviously highlighting the paedophile problems and allowing this to take its course.

  I take your point and perhaps I was quite candid about this. However, the scriptures also point towards what God finds acceptable and what he doesn't - surely the protection of paedophiles is something that is abhorrent to God and what makes it worse is that it is supposedly being done with his blessing????

  But I take on board the point you have made. Perhaps I should have used the words "maybe" and "perhaps" to make my point. It was a slip on my part but after the last few days I cannot help but feel extremely angry and disturbed that these issues still remain within the WTBTS.

  Again, apologies if I have offended anyone but I am sure that most can see the point I was trying to make. Its not like God or Jesus haven't denounced and abandoned their so-called followers before.

  Just Heard Some Shocking News

  a predatory jw paedophile micheal porter (uk) who has a 15 year record of abuse including the rape of his own baby but somehow evaded jail now is a member of my old congregation;wimbledon.

  words fail me, to think of the years of shunning that these idiots have heaped upon me even by my own family and this piece of shit was seen a this years memorial laughing and joking with the congregation.

  strange that this news story slipped passed me when it was broadcast by the british media in 2007..

  I would say that this is a DEFINITE example of God (or Jehovah) call him what you wish, outlining his intention to separate himself from the organisation that seems intent on dragging his name through the mud. I cannot believe that the God we read about in the bible would be content in the knowledge that Paedophiles are welcome in an organisation (which claims to represent everything he stands for) to continue their reign of terror - whether it be by action or by presence alone.

  Jesus stated that he wanted to children to come to him - would he be happy that certain individuals are allowed to prevent this happening if it was the true religion?

  I've come to the conclusion that there can't be any other reason for these things being exposed. The JW's will call it the devil discouraging people from joining, but they seem to forget that the devil is in their midst by friendly association with such ones who are even viewed by the 'wicked world' as the slime of society.
