what i found that upset elders more than most things was, when you made them verify their statement with scriptural backing.. when you showed their complete lack of common sense coupled with lack of christian knowledge.. on one occasion when having a heated discussion, i constantly made them refer to the org.
book for the answer, they ridiculed me, saying "are you getting your little green book out again".. all i was trying to point out was the answer (according to the society) on the subject at hand, most organisation will have some sort of code of conduct, the little green book was theirs.. they wanted to be right in all things even if it meant going against the org.. kt.

When i asked them questions they could not, or did not want to answer they became peeved, and as i have an insatiable curiosity that was quite frequently. I learned that if i did not, i got on better, trouble is that meant subsuming my natural personality. That and other things was the beginning of my undoing

I think BTS is just trying to provoke an argument rather than any serious debate. I now London quite well, and it a tolerant and vibrant city, with many different and differing nationalities. yet i see little evidence of incipient anti semitism.

It amazes me that in a country where 80% of its people do not have a passport, they lecture us about our politics. Is this the same BTS that chose to lecture me on the constitutional role of the Queen?
As of matter of interest one my friends is a liberal Jew , and another friend comes from Tehran. My Persian friend is in the UK due to the screw up of Carter, another American who did not listen to the voice of reason, in this case Warren Christopher.

I live in Europe and, i see no evidence of growing anti semitism. Most Europeans are liberal and proud of it. Hell we do not even need guns to protect ourselves.

Life is good in my experience, even in adversity. I really enjoyed doing my degree and sometimes look wistfully at what might have been, but not for long as i could have changed little and gained so much.
For me the feeling of achievement i have in getting it, and the education i gained was, and is an end in and of itself.
Hang in there , remember, "he who endures to the end" !!!

As you are aware i have law degree , as CD describes above, and as you know hence llbh - LL.B (Hons) i completed it in very adverse circumstances.
Year 1 brother, 36 y old goes into a diabetic coma, cousin 35 admitted into hospital a week later, both die within a week of each other, weeks later. I spent a part of my first year studying in an ITU.
In my final year mum diagnosed with terminal cancer, dies 3 weeks after i graduate, dad dies 10 months later. I really wanted to get my degree, and did get it.
One of only five in my year to finish ( i did it in evening classes)and one of only 3 to get an honours degree. I did not go into the legal profession because of circumstances at the time. Do i regret if? NO not at all, it is a great degree to obtain and will provide you with a very useful set of skill sets for the rest of your life.
So whatever you do i say finish your degree, enjoy it .

The mark of a civilised society is the not how we treat the strong among us but the weak. Berating this woman achieves little, helping her and her children ( if she wants it) could help a lot.
I do not see this woman or her family as a paradigm in any sense whatsoever, and from what i can see, neither does anyone else here. If her lifestyle choices do evidentially encourage others to follow a similar path, then is the time to examine her behaviour more closely and empirically.
BTW i agree about larger families usually being more widely spaced , my point was and is, that larger families are per se are of not of any less value, and with care can contribute in time to society. I can think of some people who have one or two children, who are not good at parenting.

Here in the UK if you were an off duty medic, there is a real dilemma in the situation you mention , because your public liability would be void. and you would be operating in the capacity of a private individual

There is no question save 3 people. Caliber's answer does not work as he would not works as you are still fixed with notice.
Bringing up paramedics in the US is pointless as this is nowhere in the original dilemna.
