I really do not see why people get too hung up on language and the minutia for everyday speech, there are some basic rules that most peoples seem to follow, surely the more important thing is to convey ideas, thoughts and feelings

Farkel, i am not for appeasement in any way, what i think is needed is a way forward, as has happened in Northern Ireland. I grew up during the seventies when the IRA were regularly bombing London, ( I live just North of there) now Ireland has peace, and the IRA no longer bomb there, this was unthinkable for years.
We do well to learn the past but not to dwell in it, solutions should be found for the future. Obama does seem to grasp this, he has a hinterland outside of The USA.
The reason that Iran does not have enough refining capacity i am given to understand. is because of the technologies and skills needed
, that Iran does not have enough of.

Iran has its own oil, and has the second largest reserves of gas in the world ( after Russia). What Iran needs is expertise and investment, hence sanctions, Iran even imports petrol as it does not have enough refining capacity.

Farkel we do need to be careful about how far we go back into the past. We in The UK have wide experience of terrorism, now mercifully past. Much of the money that fuelled the terrorists of Northern Ireland in the 70's came from the US.
Look at Iran's neighbours like Russia, hardly the most stable nation. Nuclear weapons per se are awful, and as i said Obama does seem to get this.

The leaders of Iran enjoy power, to use a wmd against Israel or the US would be political and physical suicide. They are though close to less than stable regimes that do have them, like India, and Pakistan, the plan of Obama to reduce nuclear weapons may well address the anxieties that they could legitimately have.
We in the West need to engage with Iran, to diffuse tensions.

The President of Iran is far from stupid, he has his own agenda and an audience to panda to.
A Jewish friend of mine said he knew that there no weapons of mass destruction in Iraq, because if there were Israel would peremptorily take them out.
Iran knows full well if they ever had nuclear weapons and used them in a first strike,that they would be annihilated by Israel, and or the US.
What is also widely underreported is that Iran and The Taliban hate each other, one being Sunni and the other Shia.
