a saudi court sentenced a woman who had been gang raped to six months in jail and 200 lashes more than doubling her initial penalty for being in the car of a man who was not a relative, a newspaper reported thursday.. the decision by the qatif general court came in a case that had sparked rare debate about the kingdom's justice system when it surfaced more than a year ago.. in its decision wednesday, the court also roughly doubled prison sentences for the seven men convicted of raping the 19-year-old woman, the arab news reported on its english-language web site.. according to arab news, the court said the woman's punishment was increased because of "her attempt to aggravate and influence the judiciary through the media.".

she had initially been sentenced to 90 lashes after being convicting her of violating saudi's rigid laws on segregation of the sexes.. under saudi arabia's interpretation of islamic sharia law, women are not allowed in public in the company of men other than their male relatives.. the initial sentences for the men convicted of the gang rape ranged from 10 months to five years in prison.

A New Kitten . . . (Katie Kitten)

i feel quite giddy making this announcement!.

katie kitten (louise) text me last night at 11.30pm to tell me to tell you all she's had a litter of one.

a little boy, josef jack, 8lb 14oz, born 5.55am on nov 15th.. she apparently had a long and somewhat rough time of it and is gonna be in hospital a day or two.. i'll be the first to say congratulations.

At the very least u would be viewed as bad association and have any privileges removed Not sure what present position is though I am registered as postal voter and i do vote to.

Were you pressured into marrying/having children young?

this is probably something women in the organisation experience more than men.

even though we were instructed from the platform to use our youth to go pioneering, the older sisters in the congregation always seemed to be pushing younger women to marry and have children so they would be 'happy' like them .

when i got married (far too young, lucky it worked out) there was instant teasing, encouragement, etc to procreate.

My experience was similar back 1970's. I became Jw along with my gf now wife, were told to get married so as to regularise our relationship. We were married at 18. We were then told to discontinue our education, we gave up college places, We were then told to pioneer and not have children, we did for 8 years and were childless. In the end my wife's desire to have children overcame her desire to pioneer, We had first child at 27 our last and third at 40. I did a degree part time and graduated at 40, mad!!!

We subsumed our lives for them, very sad.!! You get your education, enjoy your life and be yourself, not what others want..

Former Elders and Everybody- You Are Appreciated On JWD !

just wanted to say to all you guys who were elders and everybody, at least for myself thanks for the help and assistance you have provided me since joining jwd !

i know when in the witnesses elders and all of us probably did not get the commendation we deserved for our efforts , and it was a thankless job for elders having to spew out cult influenced counsel from the governing body, especially if they disagreed with it.

i know i had bad dealings with elders when a witness because of unjust treatment not only of myself , but that of others , but want you guys here to know, i look at you as friends on a level basis now !

I used to be a ms and a pioneer does that count (not worried if it does not).I agree that the one really sad thing they do not preach is freedom to express yourself
