  the above question is not in regard to one's weight.

  that would be a rude question .... in terms of your jw experience, have the losses you've suffered been offset by the good you've gained?.

  I think I have but it's been hard. Being raised in that thought process and then leaving sets you up for being in a reality you are not equipped for. Have made some dumb choices on people I've let into my life. When you are in the borg it is hard to have your own boundries because they have always been set for you. I've done many things that are so cool that I could not have done inside the borg. For many years I still believed it was the "truth" which is more toxic than poison. Still...I'd rather be "here" than "there".

  I am eternally grateful for the people that post on this site...from all over the world no less. How great is that?!?!

  Deluded Witnesses - View Themselves as Temporary " Alien Residents"

  when we were once jehovah's witnesses , and after we left jehovah's witnesses,this organization controls it's rank and file members to view themselves as " temporary residents" who are waiting for a better world to live in the future , and are told to not put too much faith or stock in this world because it has nothing to offer them .

  in this way the watchtower society controls the individual witnesses view of living towards the future, but not for today - in the real world.

  ways that the watchtower society does this is as follows .

  Very well put. I would like to add lots of international travel w/o meetings to create an awareness. The biggest thing that can free the mind is stop mentally eating from the same food source.

  Rutherford Exposed: The Story of Berta and Bonnie (redux)

  in september 2004, farkel posted an article on this forum called "rutherford exposed: the story of berta and bonnie.

  " his essay, which subsequently was translated into several languages and which received over 10,000 views after the first month, spawned a thread that ran 28 pages and contained the collaborative research efforts of many in jwd.

  this thread was thought by some moderators to be the best in the forum -- not necessarily because of the claims in the original essay but because it inspired a staggering amount of research aimed at assessing the credibility of the claims made in the essay, as well as adding to our knowledge of this fascinating yet obscure chapter of watchtower history.

  I wonder if that was my old hall. We lived in Palos Verdes and it seemed the hall was an old theatre in Long Beach. Bums peed in the entryway all the time. There was a Bro George Feliciano.

  Rest in Peace My Friend (For Ricki)

  this has been a bit of a tough week.

  yesturday i learnt about the death of my friend ricki - he was only 22. i was totally shocked and still can't believe it - i just saw him on friday (he died on sunday).

  the reason for his death - drug overdose.

  I have lost all desire to study the bible... This sucks...

  i just feel that the bible was put in place so that people can use it for guidelines and so forth.

  i don't think that you have to know everything to be accepted by god.... the only problem is, is that i no longer study with my husband either.

  now, he's not seeing the truth for what it is and starting to revert back to jw land... but, just the thought of studying anymore makes me sick... it's just, when you study so much after awhile you just can't take it anymore... i would like to actually enjoy my life a little bit.... i'm sick of trying to prove my viewpoint.

  Cognac,

  I can't see the reason for obsessing over it anymore. So many different translations, learn the origional languages (as origional as you can get) just to find out no translations line up with it, knowing that every human agent had their own agendas and cultural bias when writing. I am emotionally, physically, and spiritually exhausted over it. When someone "goes religious" whether on TV, radio or personally I turn it off and can hardly controll the urge to yell "Just SHUT UP!!!!! YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT THE HELL YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT!!!!!!"

  the same guy that spoke to my mum on the doors yesterday was talking about them in the same catergory , aswell as saying that there are alot of 13 to 15 year old girls hanging around the local night club looking for a one night stands (she should of asked him how he knew about this , is that because he is there ?

  ) his point was is a man of 25 that picks up a 15 year old plastered in makeup at a nightclub a paedophile ?

  which was totally irrelevant to the point she was making about the local ex min servant that had abused his daughters friends in the cong even though he was good friends with thier parents and had known the girls since birth , so did know they were underage .

  I feel really sorry for your sister. Maybe she should bail now and get a real life. He just sounds very narcissistic. What a bummer.
