I never thought I deserved it. I didn't deserve anything. Maybe I would squeek in.

Well, I guess my mom has been asking pointed questions like "do you still consider yourself a JW" to which I answer that I believe Jehovah is God (a little fudge) "do you believe the GB is the FDS..." I say I question anything that claims to mediate when the Bible is clear that only JC is the only mediator. I didn't know there were "special questions" out there to trap you from publishers. I quess I failed the apostate test.
If I were you I would just not be available, home, gone, moved, sick, passed out, whatever. Just leave me alone.

HELLO, I'M NEW AND.........
by billie jean ini never believed a word of any of it !.
raised a j.w from birth, i'd sit in the meetings and at conventions wondering what the hell it was all about and that it was all one big joke and imagine that they''d all suddenly turn around laughing and pointing at me !!
saying something like "haha the joke's on you".

As a long time flight attendant it freaked me out totally. Someone called and just said turn on your TV. I KNEW that no pilot would ever let their plane be flown into bldgs. It was just so surreal...like a made for TV movie. Unfortunantely our training at that time totally facilitated this horrendous event. Several flight attendants had their throats slit before they knew what was happening. The airlines have refused to give us self defense lessions (I've taken them on my own but that still doesn't put me in league with trained killers...maybe it would slow them down). It is very different out there now but I don't believe anyone would try to take over another aircraft again. If I have to kill someone to protect my passengers then I wil do it. I think there will be more attacks but not like 9-11.
I heard that the society literally locked their doors to the fleeing masses from ground zero. Anybody know about that? Were you there Bethelboy?

I just remember sitting on a chair outside the class room with the door closed when all the parties (birthday, xmas, easter etc) feeling like a total outcast. It felt like I was being punished.

Who else liked "The Rifleman"?
by Tired of the Hypocrisy ini grew up watching the rifleman and always loved it.
i wonder if they might bring it to the big screen like they have ironman and the hulk.
maybe tom selleck could pull off a decent lucas mccain??

I loved the Rifleman and I record it every day. All those idealistic shows of the time made you think right was right and wrong was wrong and bad guys got killed or learned their lesson. The best thing about it's rebroadcast is that it is commercial free.

Has Anybody Here Converted to Judaism?
by Robdar ini've studied many religions since i left the jws.
i've flirted with a few and have actually thought about joining, but in the end i didn't because it didn't feel right--it didn't resonate with me.
in 2001, the year i discovered this forum, i started reading judaism 101 and really enjoyed it.

Are you serious? As a woman I am affronted by the separation and adoration of men in the Jewish belief system. Any group that is dictated to on what to wear, eat, act, recite repetitive prayers, avoid marriage to "non-believers", wear ringlets, pubic haired beards, adore certain objects is all a giant red flag of "MAN MADE". "Tradition" or "Custom" is an evasive excuse of personal responsibility and ties you to a non-thinking mindset. I am very happy for your new path and I hope the honeymoon lasts forever.

Having been in the "society" for many decades I have seen that there is a power of language that is unique to the WT. When I first discovered this website I just cracked up over the "otherwiseknown" language. It gave me a freedom and a clairity I didn't have before. The Catholics do the same as do Mormons, Jews, Muslims, JWs, the military. etc. It is another way of keeping people's mind in self check as much as telling people what to read, watch, who to talk to, etc.
I never took it as a slam to all JWs.... only to the control of their own language.
To me it makes me laugh at myself for all those years of word worship and the intelligence and humour of the people that have posted here.
