I am not surprised at all. In church I lit a candle of sorrow since the pastor started the process of candles of joy and sorrows with mentioning the death of Teddy. It kinda of got my goat a bit so I lit a candle of joy for things he accomplished but mostly a candle of sorrow for all the women that this patriarcial family marginalized, denigraded, used and threw away not the least of which was Mary Jo Kopecnie, Marylin Monroe, his first wife Joan and hundreds of others we will never know about.

Michel Vicks should have to rehabilitate dogs used for fighting for the rest of his life. One dog at a time until a child can own it. Then he gets his nest dog to work on. During the complete time he must be in intensive psychoanalisis to rebuild a conscience and empathy.

JW Defenders- Is WTS Right to Insist You Stay Away From these Websites?
by OnTheWayOut ini read these threads and there are a few that bend over backwards to say why wts is correct on this issue or that issue.. they act like typical jw's that refuse to acknowledge points that may show that wts is not following the scriptures or that wts goes beyond the scriptures in a way that is not supported by others.. the point could be the blood issue or shunning or whether 1799 or 1914 was the start (or finish?
) of the last days or whether there is a faithful and discreet slave class or not.
i don't want to harp on each point.

Smoking tobacco- ex-JW's have a warped view, so what should we do?
by OnTheWayOut ini used to smoke cigarettes.
i quit as i was learning the lies of the watchtower organization.. i used to smoke between 1 and 3 packs a day depending on whether i went drinking or not.. .
i didn't really quit for the religion, but as i was learning it.. i swore to quit when cigarettes got to cost me more than a buck a pack.

My father occasionally smoked cigars (non JW). My mother (devout JW) battled it until she had to have her carotid reamed out. My father in all his wisdom would say...it's not the tobacco that kills people but the stuff they put into the tobacco. I don't like smell of cigaretts and never picked up the habit but I believe that when you look at the ingrediants minus the tobacco it is as pure poison as meth. I don't know how the tobacco companies get away with this. Everybody jumped on the Chinese for poisoning our pets, babys, and toys but nobody goes after these SBs for what they do to people.
DFing people for smoking is stupid. Show me literally where it says not to smoke in the Bible. What about obesity? If they Dfd all JWs for that there would be no more married sisters. (okay just a joke).

Quantum Theory has some interesting things going on. We are probably just another form of energy that moves on when we die. I don't know about our "personality package". I think we do have a genetic memory passed to us. But for the time being the only answer I can grasp is that we will find out when we get there. Peggy Lee sang it pretty well.

losing my religion
by imperialspy inafter 5 years away from the borg, it hasnt got any easier.
in fact, in my mind, its got worse.
the pain of losing a mother, father, two sisters and a brother, nieces and nephews, people i loved so dearly, has become ever deeper with every passing day.

On recommeandation of my counselor I started going to a Unitarian/Universalist Church. I found it to be a breath of fresh air. Well read folks who accept you as you are and no doctrines shoved down your throat. Great social connections and activities. You might want to give it a try. People have many personal beliefs there and it is not run from the top down but from the cong up.

When I was included in ONE meeting with the elders and my "outed" husband and they asked, "Was there something your wife would or wouldn't do that caused you to turn to men?" That was it for me.

So the Tues. book study is incorporated into Ministry School night...does it run 2 hours still? The Sunday meeting has been cut 15 min. Where was it cut from...the Talk? That leaves it to 5 meetings/wk into 2 nights. Is that correct?
