I have a dear friend who was raised by a JW Mom. Same cong as me however she was younger than me. She and her husband live and care for her 90 plus JW mom. The elders told her she could not marry her now husband because he is not a JW. So, my friend wrote a letter and got disfellowshipped. Just recently she had a serious medical scare which 2 months later was followed by a stroke. During all of this, not one JW has visited her in the hospital, sent a card, did a drive by or waved from a commercial aircraft at 37thousand feet. zip....nada. I find this so morally repugnant. When people are sick they need encouragement....not discouragement. Thru all of this her mother remains her biggest fan and support. She visits her everyday she can and sits and holds my friends hand. The love she has for her daughter is palpable. I told my friend yesterday that it is so good and encouraging to see the gigantic love her mother has for her. That her mother loves her more than she loves the man-made rules of her man-made organization. If all JWs would just wake up and listen to their love for their children the "shunning" rule could be changed overnight. When I made the observation about how much her mom loves her she said, "It feels pretty good too".

Do Any JW's Still Use/Trust the Reasoning Book?
by The Fall Guy inunder the heading last days, the introduction promises this:.
"the present wicked system of things, which extends worldwide, entered its last days in 1914, and some of the generation alive then will also be on hand to witness its complete end in the “great tribulation.”.
will the "slave" explain to their followers that such an invaluable "witnessing tool" is no longer to be used, or will they just revise it electronically to reflect "current truth?

Is Child Abuse An Issue That You Personally Have Seen In The Organization?
by minimus inas an elder, i saw one child abuse situation involving a man who wanted to be an elder and had i believe 8 children.
he was not in our congregation when this all erupted.
he denied it and moved to another hall and unbelievably, that body of elders wanted to appoint him since they believed his entire family was lying about him.

I would never care to protest assemblies or a KH. HOWEVER, if there is a known child molester it is incumbent that all the congregation has a right to know.

Were You Close To Your Non JW Family?
by minimus ini was thinking of how little i know about my father’s side of the family.
i recently inquired about ancestry.com and i’ve come to the realization that even the closest sides of my family via my father, are unknown to me .
what a shame that jehovah’s witnesses kept us apart.

My JW mother kept us very isolated. I only kind of knew 2 cousins. All of my fathers family and the majority of my mother's family are strangers. Pretty screwed up thing to do.

I believe he's been involved in extreme money laundering with Putin and Oligarchs. Putin publically admitted he wanted Trump to win and was involved for that to happen. He is a Con, a gangster, amoral. this will all be part of his being a traitor.

I was thinking about how Paul was able to hijack Jesus message. He never met Jesus (claimed an encounter after Jesus death that affected his eyesight) . He was a persecutor of Jesus followers. Yet ,it seems he effortlessly took over and returned Jesus teachings to the patriarchal mode to the old Hebrew teachings. Was this because he was well educated in the Pharisee line of thinking and they were intimidated? Was he well established as a respected man of his times both in and out of Jewish culture. HOw did this happen?

On leaving JW's and hating religion...
by Jehalapeno init's been nearly 4 years now since i completely woke up to the watchtower lies.. thinking back on my jw life, during the time i believed, the organization truly did teach us to hate all beliefs that were contrary to the watchtower's.. i hated "false" religion.. so, when i finally woke up and applied critical thinking to my beliefs, i just went on hating religion in general...only this time i added jw's to that list.. a few months of waking up, i decided to base my beliefs on evidence.
i didn't want to have a set of beliefs unless there was some logic or evidence behind it.
so, now i consider myself an atheist.. and i kept on hating religion.. within the last six months or so, something has changed.

religion is a double edged sword. It can have pluses and minuses. One of the most destructive support beams of religion to continue to exist is the patriarchy. As long as this exists someone is going to be stepped on, persecuted, denied rights, murdered, raped etc. Children will be sexually plundered and not receive justice. Women will always be subject to being reduced to cheerleaders for the male hierarchy. being indoctrinated in male dominated religion has too great a cost. You can take someone out of a religion but getting those beliefs out of your mind takes a long time. Why? Because it is your default mechanism. It is your foundation to how you perceive everything. I have to question everything I think. You may leave a religion but it is really hard work to get all those roots out of your mind and heart.

A friend recently wrote this about Israell and the Palestinians. Regarding Israel : "They also have a book...written by themselves, that says that their invisible friend gave the land to them."
