heading to the apostafest this weekend, we have made a deal with our friends to look after our kids.
given that they already have 3 children, adding 3 more could be stressful so we thought we would ask my parents if they wanted to take one overnight.
bobbi mentioned that she hadn't really heard much from my mom and suspected something was up.
I love the word "wifflebat" !!!
I applaud you for being true to yourself and what you beleve in. It's so hard to stand up to others when you know they will think you are the devil himself. But you know what? That is THEIR problem. You do what you feel in your heart is right because in the end, we have to answer for what WE do in life. You can't live your life just to please someone else. Your parents might even come around once things settle down and they see that you are not growing horns and that you and your kids are happy.
Big hugs to you!!!
I'd like to know how they can sleep at night, when they are leading one of the most evil organizations ever.
did you have a song or tune that used to give you the creeps when you were a kid?
i used to hate sparky's magic piano, while the theme from dr.who used to make me put my hands over my ears.. i've been trying to think of some more .
clam .
The National Anthem freaked me out, not only because we weren't supposed to sing it, but I misheard the words "oh say does that star spangled" - I always heard "for Satan, that's God's name". No wonder little kids weren't supposed to sing it at school!!!!
Stupid, I know. I was in my teens before I figured out the right words.
in my experiences, i saw many women that really took a back seat to anything a "brother" had to say.
i was always amazed as to how some sisters were sooooooooooooo submissive!
they really stood out from the "jezebel" types.. if you were a "sister", how were you treated and how did you respond?.
Females are treated so shabbily that a 9 year old baptized male is viewed as higher up the totem pole simply because of gender.
Yes! If a sister took a young boy on a bible study and he was baptized, she was expected to cover her head to conduct the bible study. Funny!!!
As for modesty, were the guys expected to cover their crotches when they got woodies inside the KH? I saw way too many packages in my lifetime at the KH!!!
i have always loved it when the seasons changes.
i was always told that we would have temerate weather all of the time and the seasons wouldn't chage.
i always thought i would miss the changing leaves, budding flowers after it has been so cold, and the snow.
I would not like having an outhouse and no indoor plumbing
i joined this site about a week ago and have enjoyed reading all the posts and chatter.
i was raised in the jws, baptized at 17 (didn't know any better) but once i got married and had a baby, i just didn't have enough time to go to all the meetings during the week.
we got the "shepherding calls" and pretty much were looked down on for not going to all the meetings.
You guys are sweet. Thanks for the welcome
Ok, so another time, when I was 19 and had my own apt, there was a JW girl that lived in my complex (not baptized). She threw an anniversary party for her parents one night and invited my BF and me and a few other JWs. I had worked all day and had a headache... well, they turned all the lights out to "dance" I told my BF I was going to run home and get an aspirin. I got one, then we went outside and sat on the steps for a while talking. We were in my apt a total of about 3 minutes. Well, one of the JWs at the party saw us leave and told on us... so another elder's meeting. I asked why it was ok to dance in the dark but not be alone in an apt for 3 minutes? Sorry, I can't take my clothes off, fornicate and put them back on that fast - maybe they knew of a way?! AND, maybe it would have been better to dance in the dark with my BF, rubbing our throbbing "whatevers" together - ??? And why weren't the others in trouble for having a party in the dark?!
I seriously think I caused a few of those elders to develop high blood pressure. Hard to believe I never got busted for opening my big mouth (being a sister and all).
i once heard an older dub, *godresthissoul* while reading a scripture say, "parents do not be irrigating your children!
" .
linda.
Ok, this was a Tuesday night study at someone's house back when I was a teenager, but my dear, late dad, had health problems and was always short of breath. He made a comment about a baby who caught aids from a blood transfusion and he said "the blood probably came from some hhhhhhhhhhoooooooooommmmmo", and we were all waiting for the rest of the word, but that's all he said. OMG I never lived that one down from the other kids in the cong.

TERE.....a pure case of assuming on their parts. It's like they look for reasons to get back at members, just to show who is in authority. You did the right thing in taking your BF home. Reminds me yet again how my Ex did the right thing in allowing me to stay in his home for a couple of weeks after our divorce. It took me that long to find an apt. What was he supposed to do, throw me out on the streets? I got DF for that.
Shees!! Well, they did you a favor at least. Funny... my mom was telling me about a brother in her congregation that has many friends in many parts of the world that come visit him. Well, one married couple visited him recently, but the wife came out here first, a few days before the husband, and stayed at that brother's house. Funny how they were allowed to be in the house alone and no one got raked over the coals... or maybe people over the age of 60 don't think about fornication? hahahahahahaha

As far as the JW's go, don't be surprised if they do little or absolutely nothing.
The current elders either don't know you, or have forgotten about you.
You gave them a disassociation letter, no need to form a committee.
They really aren't very good at shepherding any unwilling sheep, only the docile believers.
Do you really think so? I was very well known in many congregrations when I was a teenager. I played the kingdom songs for the congregation to sing and I even got to play the piano at a convention and participate in a "demonstration" at a convention where we bashed worldly clothing styles... like stirrup pants! hahahahahaha ... man I was so stupid, but then I was only 16 then. My mom hitches a ride with some friends on Sunday to the KH still, but she hasn't gone door to door in many, many years... and we have the same name LOL. Even though I haven't attended since 2000, I'm sure people still remember me. It was such a drama when I was dating the guy I ended up marrying... everyone was involved in our business. It was so wierd. I'll share one of my experiences in "the little room" with the elders... it should give you a chuckle.
I was 18, my boyfriend (later husband) was 17... The elders were encouraging us to go door to door in the evenings because more people were home. So we did.. I asked my BF to go to a door with me where I had talked to a guy before about creation/evolution. So we talked to this guy for a while. And when we left his house, everyone else had gone home! I had my car, so I gave my BF a ride home and then I went home. Someone saw us driving down the street and turned us in and we got lectured. I was so mad and I asked why the people that left us in the territory weren't getting lectured when it was their fault. Was I just supposed to leave this guy stranded in the neighborhood? It was getting dark!!
I have so many stupid stories like that... I could write a book, believe me. At one of those elder's meetings for a different "lecture", I flat out told the elders they were a bunch of hypocrites and they shouldn't be yelling at us when they didn't even know what their own kids were doing (which was true). I thought this one elder was going to pop an artery on the spot! I left that congregation and joined another one, so the lynchings stopped hahahahha.
I laugh because it's such a STUPID organization... I can't believe how many people are sucked into it. I was in my early 20's when I started to fade and now I'm almost 40.
Thanks for letting me ramble on lol and for the kind words. You guys rock.
