My Story
by XJW4EVR ini was adopted into a jw family in southern california.
my birth mother gave me up after 6 months (the terms mom & dad refer to my adoptive/real parents).
she gave me up due to the fact that she already had a three year old boy, and back in the late sixties it was not as socially acceptable to be a single mother.

I think cruises are great for families because the children have activities. The parents can have some alone time together. Also when my children were young (3) we brought our neighbor who was a teenager along on several of our road trips. She was the best babysitter and had never been anywhere outside of our city. She loved it. She told me years later those times were some of her favorite memories. Those vacations were so much easier for us too.

I had my first opportunity to say I am no longer a JW. It was to an old friend I hadn't seen in twenty plus years. He came over to my house to visitymy husband who had died last year. He was not aware of that fact so he became emotional. Later out of the clear blue he asked if I was still a JW. I don't know what prompted him to ask but I could tell he had been drinking the smell could have knocked me out and it was noon. His grandson had driven him over thank goodness.
I told them I was not a witness anymore. He asked if anyone is calling on me. I said no and do not want anyone to call on me. I told him I felt I was very spiritual and didn't need putting in hours and attending meetings to be able to communicate with God. It felt sooooo good to say it out loud and to someone I knew even if he was drunk.

songs that help you cry....
by wings inno matter how much you want to avoid it...crying is necessary sometimes.
for me, i need help with it....too many distractions in my life.
i almost have to plan crying....so for me music aides in releasing emotion, helps me just be me for an interval of time.

I have one that even saying the title makes me emotional let alone hearing the song. It is "He ain't heavy, he's my brother". I wonder if Dagney knows that about me.

This is my first real post since lurking for several years. This is something I have personal experience with. My husband was termnal and had been getting some MJ as best he could from the street to help him deal with pain and stress. I got him to a special doctor for authorization to purchase from a distribution center. He was so pleased by the quality and ease of getting it. It made his last days so much more comfortable. He was on heavy doses of morphine in addition. There is nothing that would calm him as well as this "alternative medicine". So it wasn't just for pain but helped appetite and stressing out from his circumstance. His Oncologist nurses and hospice doctor and nurses were upset that it isn't accepted by the medical community and the powers that be. They would complain that it is so policized.
I met people that would not be able to work full time unless they used it for chronic back pain and other painful ailments. I have a frend that used it for MS and had favorable resuslts but discontinued because of guilt of using it in front of her family. How sad is that?
I always treated it as medicine and did not use it myself but was always grateful he had it. In his last days I was also able to have it delivered because he could not travel to obtain it.
I will eventually post my WT story. I was in over 50 years so it is never too late.

I was fading and realizing how so much was wrong in the WTS. I would go to meetings really reluctantly but had to at that time. So to keep occupied when scriptures were cited, I would read the whole chapter. I realized almost every scripture cited was out of context or did not apply to how it was being used. It was amazing to me because I had no idea. A close relative who was ahead of me in the process of fading told me to read all the scriptures in context. It was so tangible and easy to see.

I could hardly wait to find out if you had a great time. So I thought I would put my first post here. It sounds like "The Boss" was as good as ever.
