Subject: Changes in activities at the Ajalvir (Madrid) Branch April 1, 2009
Dear Brothers,
The Governing Body has recently informed us that, after having analized the situation related to the European printing premises, have come to the decision to discontinue within a month the Spanish Branch activities of printing, warehousing and dispatching of publications to other countries.
Our brothers express their appreciations for the work done up to now in Spain, one of the four larest printing facilities in Europe, with these words: “During many years your Branch has sustained the Spanish as well as the worldwide activities, which has been enormously appreciated. The Govering Body is convinced that all this was possible only thanks to the blessings of Jehovah under the direction of the holy spirit over the Branch, as well as the Spanish brothers good will”.
Although we will not produce anymore magazines or any other publications in our Branch, we are confident that you will continue to give yourgenerouse support to the worldwide work, according to your possibilities.Our Branch will continue to care for the rest of the work – which all other branches will continue to do for their own territory -, that is to say the assistance to the congregations, the supervision of the activities of the traveling oversears, the regular and special pioniers, the organization of the assemblies and many other things. On the other hand, it is obvious that akk of this will require changes at the level of the Branch, changes which will be comunicated in due time. For the time being, this is what we can already say, but we are sure that you will appreciate these information.
As we continue united our activities, under the direction of the organization of God directed by his spirit, we send you our Christian love (Ez. 1:12-21; Mat.24:45-47).

After the rumors from the Italian Branch, and now this official communication from the Spanish Branch, new information comes from the Italian Branch that this move is real, that the Italian Branch has already stopped printing and that many volonteers had to leave the premises and go back to their respective congregations.

Mi dispiace della tua situazione, non perché sei disassociato, ma perché l’impronta della WT è tale che uno si sente un “nulla”. Come se al di fuori della WT ci fosse solo il male.
Ricrediti caro Marco, fuori della WT il mondo è pieno di persone comprensive, gentili e soprattutto umane. Certo, ci sono anche moltissimi violenti, malvagi e via dicendo, ma non sono mica tutti così come ci ha voluto fare credere la WT.
Avendo detto questo, vorrei presentarmi.
Io sono stato Testimone per circa 60 anni, dalla mia più tenera età.
Non sono disassociato né mi sono dissociato. Ho preferito semplicemente sparire.
La mia ritirata è da attribuire alla scoperta individuale che lo Schiavo Fedele e Discreto non può essere un organismo operativo, dunque è praticamente inesistente, o esistente solo nell’immaginario collettivo dei Testimoni di Geova.Se posso esserti di aiuto, fammi sapere. 100% agree with you on both, where not to post this story and that it is normal that profit from property sales ends up at WT headquarters.
As it is a Watch Tower Society move, looking at the different sections of the forum, I thought that the “Watch Tower Society” section would be the most appropriate one.
But under this section the only other choices I had are:
- research
- Beliefs
- Child Abuse
- Medicine, and of courseAs the subject is none of the above … I was left with … scandals
After all, for the idiots (like me in the past) who have contributed financially and dedicated time to WT construction work, to know that at the end of the day it is just about profit for the WT, it is a scandal!
But maybe you meant, I should have posted it under “Friends”!
Strange section label where to dump what does not fit into any other section!On the other subject, where should the money go, even I can understand that you do not expect to see it sprinkle out on the street!
What is dishonest about it is that you contribute for ONE SPECIFIC objective (e.g. building an assembly hall, or a branch premises but see the money going out to different targets than the one you originally thought you were contributing for.
For example, the bros who have contributed to the construction of the two assembly halls in Italy, in both money and labor, now see that the result of their effort has evaporated, the money has been cashed by the society, and they have to go back to square one, renting halls for their assemblies.
If this is normal to many people, it is absolutely not “business as usual” for me anymore!
It is maybe “business as usual” for the dubs! -

The country is Italy, at least the first I am hearing about.
Of course, I can see the reaction of the bros at the announcement:
Everything comes from Jehovah and is a blessing for his people!
The appropriate scripture will be read in support of their decision, and, as you say, everyone will applaud.I read the Charter of the Italian branch, and it says, as for any other branch I suspect, in the event of winding-up of the legal entity, the balance sheet assets are transferred to the Watch Tower of Pennsylvania.
If the rumor is true, then I would assume that they would leave behind the “Service Department” to deal with the communication in local language with the country congregations, the traveling overseers and assemblies programs.
This service does not require many resources and a few men in a small office could cope with the job without a large support staff.I also hear ( but this is not a rumor ! ) that they have closed down AND SOLD two assembly halls (one in the south and one in the center of the country) which were owned by the branch, of course!
Now the bros will have to travel long distances to go to halls which they will have to rent for the events, after having contributed with their funds and hard work in building the halls years ago.It all sounds like the big business the society has really been in, apart from the printing ventures, is exploiting the members both, with their financial contributions first, to buy the basic land or existing construction, and then the free labor to build, decorate and renovate their properties.
As soon as the value is multiplied by 20 or so, and that the market is favorable, they sell the property and start all over again somewhere else.As the cycle takes about 20 years or so, the original contributors and volunteers having left the organization, died or be too old to be used by the multi-national organization, they just sell the property, make a big deal, tax free, and start the cycle again with … fresh labor and fresh donors who are not frustrated (yet!) to see their original contribution and efforts disappear in the air (read WTBS safe!), as they are now part of the “new generation” of naïf dubs!
