The Two Bibles
by ProdigalSon in[we are;] for we are not peddlers of the word of god as many men are, but as out of sincerity, yes, as sent from god, under gods view, in company with christ, we are speaking.
2 corinthians 2:17, new world translation of the holy scriptures.
heres what was translated as peddlers: kapeleuo from kapelos (a huckster); to retail, that is, (by implication) to adulterate (figuratively): - corrupt.

jws and organ donors
by jacethespace injehovahs witnesses used to view organ donors/ transplants as cannabalism and as such these things were banned in the org some years ago.. some questions ive been wondering about - how serious did the org take this belief back then.. was it as big as blood transfusions today.. did people in the org die from refusing organ donors.
what is the history of this belief and why did they drop it in the end.. what scriptures did the org twist use to justify this stance..

Did you try and fit your own "style" into meeting dress?
by avishai inboy, i sure did.
forties suits with handpainted ties.
fifties/sixties sharkskin "rat pack" suits with the skinniest ties i could get away with, etc.,
-
jacethespace
Hell yeah heres my dress history of my meeting attendance:
Ist meeting- Pair of chinos and a short shirt [ like the sort you go clubbin in]
Bit later on - was pulled up over wearing chinos [ didnt realize jehovaa could whack you for wearing chinos] but i always wore multi coloured shirts no boring black and white suit crap.
Before i left i decided screw it i wore my clubbing shirts to every meeting with a tie of course some would look at me for this like i was the son of molech or something.
I always wore dr martins boots strangley no one spoke to me about this.

How many years before you left did you realise it was not the truth?
by jambon1 ini was only in for 10 years.
however, i never feel that i 100% believed it all, even at the point of baptism.. i think after the initial period of 'love' shown on the part of the brothers, i must have only been a baptised brother for about 4 years when i knew it was all wrong on so many different levels.. i remember a sister saying to me "once they have got you under the water, that's when you see the real way they treat you".
it all changed after baptism.
-
jacethespace
Well i was never very sure so i spent about 4 years studying and attending meetings and being an unbaptized publisher before getting baptized in 2005.The elder i studied with seemed to be getting more stressed as i took my time and kept dropping massive hints in the end like. The end is coming soon you cant sit on the fence over and over that crap was told me, theres no sitting on the fence. So i think i realized quite quickly it wasnt the truth.

Intresting you say that youre not dfd because i suddenly realised ive been shunned too kinda.I was walking down the street the other day and an elder was walking towards me i said to him " hello harry" and he looked at me he did nod his head to ackowledge me but turned away and didnt speak. This guy has been in for 50 years as well so i bet hes got some secrets to hide.
Why do they shun you even when youre not dfd or anything would they say its a matter of concience.
I knew an ignorant s.o.b in the cong that always seemed to never like me [ probably i think it was cause i always flirted with his daughter] anyway he often used to just blank me even when i spoke to him while i was there and every talk he give he used to say the same thing about how theres bad association even in the congregations we have to watch out for and he always did this while staring at me intently.
Who meeee.

Tax collector or publican
by jacethespace inluke chapter 18:9-14 says- 9 and he spoke this parable unto certain which trusted in themselves that they were righteous and despised others 10 two men went up into the temple to pray the one a pharisee and the other a publican 11 the pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, god i thank you that i am not as other men adulterers or even as this publican 12 i fast twice in the week i give tithes of all that i possess 13 and the publican standing afar off would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast saying god be merciful to me a sinner 14 i tell you this man went down to his house justified rather than the other, for everyone that exalts himself shall be abased and he that humbles himself shall be exalted.. now to be fair i have met some people in the tower who are generally humble, but i was wondering out of this parable who does the rank and file jw and governing body, elders, circuit overseers basically follow after.the tax collector or the lowly publican?.
i mean it is certain that the watchtower does despise others [ worldly, etc] and they do generally have the tax collector attitude of " i thank you god that i am not like other men.and a lot of them are anything but humble and abased.. this is evident even in the ministry when i was out there were some that would leave the houses muttering " its there funeral at armaggedon.. one elder even said once to me that the best part of the truth is that the wicked dont have a say in whether there going, jehovah will just remove them whether that want to go or not.. what do you think?
who does the tower represent the tax collector or the publican?

Is the NWT really the most accurate translation of the Bible?
by godsgurl ini have heard jw claim that the nwt is the most accurate translation of the bible and the persons who translated the bible were inspired by the holy spirit.
but if this is so then why was the nwt revised so many times?
did the holy spirit get it wrong the first time?
-
jacethespace
Ive examined the NWT with the king james version and was suprised to see how slanted the new world translation is.When i was questioning the elder before i left i told him i had gone back to the king james version and all he could say in an arrogant way was " but our translation has jehovahs name in its right place.
