Is the Governing Body Guilty or not guilty of 1975 speculations going too far?
by Terry inthe most disengenuous aspect of "official" pronouncements from the society can be identified.. it is in the positioning of the speaker/writer as a passive onlooker commenting on exterior happenings.. this bystander mode is clever by half.. why?
it spoon feeds information without taking any active personal responsibility.. sort of an "oh gee, wow--look at all this going on" stance, while taking a stand-offish tone, is printed in the official magazines and books approved for publication by the governing body as mouthpiece of jehovah.. think about that.
it is insidious incitement without responsibility.. the person (likely fred franz) who crafted these bulletins had gone through several previous incidents of failure and disappointment and was well aware of the effect of any speculations upon jehovah's witnesses in the past.. this makes what was printed all the more calculated and irresponsible in the extreme.. let us parse the language printed by the watchtower society with careful attention to what is said and left unsaid.. w68 8/15 p. 494 why are you looking forward to 1975?.

At an international convention in 1974 one of the GB said'' This may well be the last assembly this side of Armageddon''
I cleary remember all the talks,WT articles, ect all pointing to 1975.
Then when it did'nt come anyone who said anything about the WTS saying 1975 would be the end was told they themselfs put too much emphsis on it!!!!
Then along came 1976 and they are looseing members flat out.
Nathen Noor went on a world wide specking tour to drum up support one thing he said ''In the highly unlikely event we see the year 2000''
Saddly alot of the Elders,CO's ect we not even around in 1975.

Does creating low self esteem in the R&F play into the hands of the GB?
by highdose inofficaly they say that they don't want the r&f to have low self esteem, they say that low self esteem is from the devil.. .
but they create a culture that cannot help but give their r&f crippling self esteem, the constant empasis is on looking at the flaws in oneself.
"pummeling" yourself because of your sins, all the publications tell us over and over again that we are "dust" and deserve nothing.. .

The Wine Thread.
by Open mind inif you enjoy a glass of vino now and then, tell us what you like and how your tastes got to where they are now.
wine snobs & non-snobs alike welcome!.
my intro to the world of wine was my jw parents buying a huge screw-top bottle of paul masson or gallo red or white, having half a glass, and sticking it out on the back porch thinking that wine stayed good like that.

If your going to bring up anything about the WTS or any doubts you have make sure it's one on one.
Do your homework well and stick to the topic you have chosen and do not deveate off it till he and you has fully explaned things.
The JW's like nothing more than to change the subject when they can't answer.
