  WT Society Appoints Elders/MS Based on " Functions " Performed - not ....

  ........... holy spirit or any " fruitages of the spirit " like love, kindness, mildness, meekness , etc.

  shown by men considered for elder or ms positions.

  qualities or true positive character traits are not that important to the wt society in appointments of these men in jw congregations.. no, the real " qualifications " that a jw man needs to exhibit is being able to report 10 hours a month in knocking on people's doors offering wt and awake magazines !

  They have lowered the bar so much that just about anyone can be appointed to a postion.

  We had a guy with a mental health problem that was an M.S.

  Half the elders in one congro i attented were drunks they would get togeather and drink like there was no tomorrow...my father who was never a JW and was fond of a drink was supprised when he saw these guys drink.

  As long as you tow the party line and be SEEN to be doing the rite thing you will be appointed.

  As i mentioned in another thread we have an Elder who screwed his own sister,He was married at the time (Still is).

  He is worthy of double honner while we are all mentaly diseased...go figure.

  There was an Awake artical about the dangers of watching soaps in the early 90's.

  We had a pioneer siter that used to go home after FS to watch them.

  when i was in 4th grade, i ended up in a situation involving minor school politics.

  they had developed a "student council" which did little more than sell pencils at lunch time for fundraisers.

  anyway, i was appointed by the teacher and didn't think much of it as an 8-9 year old.

  The best one i heard was a married couple who said they sold their house to go pionering.

  The truth was they built this flash house becouse all his family had flash houses but could'nt afford the morgage and sold it becouse they had to.

  There was a sister in their congro selling appartments off the plans and told them they could sell them when finished at a tidy profit.

  Well the whole thing went belly up and they were bankrupted and he had to step down as an Elder.

  So the truth was......We sold the house becouse we had to..he never went pionering...we went into a houseing scheme hopeing to make alot of money and last everything.

  "Mentally Diseased", Defamation per se, and US Law

  the watchtower article on "mentally diseased" apostates has caused a lot of commotion and might even be investigated as hate speech in some countries.

  the united states has a different political climate and a different approach to balancing individual freedoms against the freedoms of religious organizations.

  this makes it unlikely that charges of hate speech would get much traction in the united states, unless things escalate further or result in violence.

  As much as it's a good idear the courts don't like getting involved with religious arguments.

  The 1st ammendment will negate most of your argument.

  The KKK,Westbro church ect have way more wackey idears than the JW's and opperate with the full protection of the 1st ammedment.
