There was alot of growth pre 75 then in 1976 N.H.Knoor went on a world wide tour to shore up the masses as the number started to go down.
I went to his talk at the Auckland New Zealand Town hall,He spoke for 90 mins with out notes,Looking back i'm sure he had given that talk so many times he didn't need to.
It took a long time to recover from 75 and they gave a sort of very vague apology in a Watchtower in 1982 that by now they will be denying.

i have to say, i have seen quite a few youtube videos recently of ex jw's secretly recording their interactions inside of different congregations, halls, etc and see how empty the halls are!
so many people comment on how the attendance is so low, far more emptier than when i was in 6 years ago, even on a weekday meeting.

i was an elder in two different congregations and both were conservative and strict, especially congregation number one.
it was headed by a former branch servant as they were called back then.
all elders were by the book.
Elder with short mans syndrome used to pick on my mother as my father was never a J.W.However my mother came from a fairly rough background and wouldn't take any s##t from him and they clashed.....want to council her on anything...make sure you have your facts rite as she wouldn't just lie down and die.
Elder that liked to lord it over everyone.Had the book study at my place now and then we would have refreshments after the book study that i stopped because i got sick of food being spilt into my carpet.Elder lord it over decided that seeing our book study was being split up he announced there would be a supper after next weeks book study and everyone to bring a plate.
Everyone that arrived with a plate of food i politely asked them to take it back to their car....Elder lord it over said nothing...neither did i..i didn't have too.

since leaving watchtower it still strikes me as odd how little i knew the real world and how it works.
i thought i knew how it worked but it turns out i didnt.
as jws we were always "courting with a view to marriage".you go on one date with a girl and everyone's expecting you're gonna marry her?
Pale emperor.I too had the same experience.When my marrage split up i joined a dating site not realy knowing what to expect after meeting quite a few women i finaly found the one and we have been togeather 4 years.
Dating outside the J.W's is a whole diffrent experance to dating inside the J.W's casual sex is everywhere if you want to find it.

every picture i have seen at him at beth shirim and other private places are with a bottle of alcohol.. while for me personally i couldn't care less anymore.... for jw's this is low moral character.
so i'm an going to guess he was a functioning alcoholic... how did that work with his closest workers?
