  Do you remember the 15 minute break at the Sun. meeting?

  a poster on another thread reminded me of when there was a 15 min.

  break between the talk and the wt study on sundays.

  the break was supposed to be to allow jw's time to drive their bible studys home from the talk.

  Yep, as a kid in the late 60s/early 70s I longed for that break. But at least our congregation's Sunday meeting was in the morning, so I'd usually have Sunday afternoons free since we did our field service on Saturdays. What I hated was the evening Ministry School/Service Meeting which felt like it lasted until midnight.

  Posters do you know of any cases where a devout JW was DF'd for Lesbianism?

  i think this is a hush hush topic among jws but i remember years ago at an assembly i saw two sisters(i am only assuming they were jws they could have been studies or relatives of jws) walking arm and arm like a married couple.

  some of the jws looked at them like they had horns.

  some of the jws moms were covering their small children's eyes and those two women were stared at like they had the plague.

  Yes, a few. In fact, it was one of those very women (DF lesbian JW) who got my wife and I to truly communicate after thirteen years of Watchtower sanctioned marriage, finally come out to each other (yes, both of us are gay), leave the organization and get our kids out of it, and get on with real lives.
  
  I'm grateful to her and we remain friends to this day.

  Skinny dipping in the new order?

  the jw's are quick to tell you that when jehovah has finished kicking the ass of those who do not acknowledge the teachings of the watchtowers governing body in new york state, that those who survive will live forever in a restored paradise on earth.

  the same goes for those who are resurrected during the 1000 year reign of jesus and survive satan being let loose "for a little while" at the end.. they are also quick to tell you that everything will be just as it was for adam and eve before the latter decided she needed a fruit fix and then got her hubby high on it as well.. and when you view the illustrations in their publications showing what they view this paradise to be, it shows a world of lush color.

  the deep greens of all the trees and grass, the clean blue skies, puffy white clouds and tables covered in a plethora of fresh fruits and vegetables representing just about every major color.

  I remember folks in my hall talking about this decades ago, and they said something like this: Before the flood there existed the "water canopy" thingy, so the seasons and sun's intensity were mild and therefore no clothes were needed. However, now that the canopy is gone, clothes would be used even after perfection. I don't know if this idea was ever in print ("Apparently blah blah blah") or just wild speculation. Does anyone else remember hearing this?

  How devasting for a child to have those he trusts the most--parents and authorities--fail, as well as actively hurt them. I'm crying inside for these victims, especially given the fact that the older son repeatedly informed DCS in the past.

  State Rep. Sherry Jones wants DCS to answer why this took so long.

  "It's something that should have been addressed 10 years ago," Jones said. "There is no reason for a child to be hurt and left in that same place and be hurt again and again and again."

  I hope justice is finally served so that this monster cannot hurt others, and especially so that the victims can get the help they need to have a happy, normal life.

  Hong Kong Witnessing

  i'm on holidays in hong kong at the moment and already have come across two seperate sets of jws.

  their tactics are very interesting and are contradictory.. the first time i saw them was near the ferry terminals.

  they had their lit cart and there were three jws, an older male and female standing next to the trolley and a younger guy holding up a mag in each hand next to the female jw.

  Interesting. Although I occasionally see witnesses here in Taiwan, I've yet to see a literature cart. Maybe it's in the works.
  
  My last encounter with a JW was a few months ago. The guy was alone, which I thought was a bit strange (but perhaps his partner was nearby). He approached me in the parking area of my apartment building and offered me an invitation to the memorial. Also interesting was the fact that, although I'm a white foreigner and he was a local Taiwanese guy, he initiated his conversation with me in Chinese. If you lived here you'd know that never happens; a non-Asian person is always assumed to not be able to speak Chinese.

  Quendi, thanks for sharing that experience. That woman was absolutely a rarity in the organization.

  I have come to believe that one reason for the Governing Body's unrelenting homophobia is that some of them are gay men themselves and are filled with self-loathing and self-hatred. They project those feelings on the membership, some of whom are dealing with the same issues themselves.

  I agree. I've also suspected that the reason we hear a lot about Bethelites evenutally coming out, whether on their own or unintentionally, is because a good number of born-in gay JWs end up volunteering for Bethel—the reason being that their constant inner turmoil (speaking from experience) is dealt with by throwing themselves into the rigorous full-time regime at Bethel. It's also a good excuse for avoiding the pressure to marry ("the gift of singleness").

  .. the new wbt$ donation arrangement/ jw kingdom hall bank account theft... is a very hot topic right now... the wbt$ is literally going to clean out kingdom hall bank accounts,filled with donations from jws... that theft is going to happen world wide..the wbt$ is going to steal from 7 million plus jw`s... .. we have jw elders here on jwn,that know whats going on... they "serve" in kingdom halls,they are "supposed" to be looking after the welfare of the average jw... they know there is a 4 page letter,only one page will be read to the congregation..the rest will be kept secret... they know the wbt$ is about to steal jw donations..on a world wide scale!!!...

  .. i would like to know what you active jw elders are going to do about this??!!...

  are you going to let "your" congregation know about the other 3 secret pages?...
