for me, it was not being able to prove that people were going to be resurrected to earth... i'm still not sure of the answer, but for some reason that just started this huge, fast snowball of different things that i couldn't prove... .

For me, i became REALLY bored of going to the hall. I had drive an hour home, get ready, break my neck to eat a bite and then be late and have to deal with 'concerned' people. Quite some time later I started reading science websites and started seeing pictures of how big the universe really is. Got to the point where I questioned why would god make a universe this big just for a tiny planet? It didnt make sense why he would be so concerned with things like blood and weather or not I was allowed to wear a goatee that it started looking silly. Finally I stumbled in to this website and found more reasons why JWs are outright silly in nature.

Its just easier being atheist. Less questions. :)

kingdom hall sound team

i was one of the group of sound servers in the congregation to play kingdom hall tunes, flip mikes on,etc.record the meetings [ scary thought].half the time we had to replace the casette tapes as people never returned them after they lent them.well anyway a few times i often entertained thoughts that i would love to start the opening of a meeting with bon jovi- living on a prayer or some other rock song like that.oh what the hell i think i,ll return one more time and leave with a loud entrance.

I was the 'sound guy' for quite some years till I started missing too many meetings because I didnt care. I was pretty good at getting the sound levels right and keeping everyone happy. There was always one guy who was ALWAYS unhappy about my choice of levels (an elder who my dad had to knock down a few times for being too 'enthusiastic'). One of the last meeting I attended he decided to intervene again and I had enough. I asked him 'do you know why they asked me to be the sound guy and not you?'. He looked at me surprised. 'Because your you'. A-hole. Its the whole 'over you' mentality that really got me.

exiting the watchtower

hi im new to this forum and am currently trying to exite the watchtower.for the past 12 months or more i have stopped going on the ministry.in august last year i stopped going to the meetings but depression kicked in and other symptoms and i returned to the meetings in april.i stopped going to the meetings again in july and did more research to see if this is a cult.but im having all sorts of symptoms.confusion of whats right and wrong, panic attacks when i go out, one minute i hate the watchtower the next i wonder whether this is the truth and wonder if ive been mislead by satan.i dont know who to trust and where to go from here.and none of my family was ever in the watchtower so i think they know somethings going on but they can,t understand what im going through.ive been in the watchtower since 1999 off and on, i finally got baptized in 2005 after what i thought was carefull examination of the truth.and whats worse is the elder i studied with when i came into the " truth" lives right next door to me with his wife, which plays all sorts of guilt trips on me and paranoia.

Hi Jace! This is my first post as well. Its funny, i just never questioned anything growing up because thats the way I was taught to deal with inconsistencies in the WT (faith sucks). Its REALLY tough getting away from that I left in 1998 - 1999 (i had to convince myself that I left) and it was soooooo tough. I had my first apartment alone (first apartments are scary and its worse when you have no friends). I don't get depressed easily but wow was that tough. After I hung in there and built new relationships as best I could I found that the world is a wonderful place with tons of cool things that no good deity would deny anyone. It just gets easier. Nothing can make me go back. What was helpful for me was making comparisons with the elders and the pharasies(im bad at spelling). Another helpful thing is meetup dot com.... awesome for finding ex-witnesses and good people who want to help. If I could do it you can do it. Knowledge is your best fight in my opinion.
