Simplify the Holidays
by jgnat inmy daughter is seriously thinking of cancelling christmas this year.
after spending so much time with you guys, i begged her to reconsider.
i think she does not realize what she is missing unless she was part of an organization that told her she must never celebrate this holiday again.. to her defence, i know she is overwhelmed by the obligations of the season.

Gently,
Interesting that you should be the one to get on my case about seeing people's personalities.
This is your quote...
"Hiya, Buffy. Yes, I did go sexually wild after leaving...
...Tonight I'm websurfing about how to throw an orgy, and not having much luck."
Oh, Gently... I'm sure you you really cared about these people's personalities too.Interesting that you saw fit to dig through my 500 or so posts in search of that. Do you often go to so much trouble to prove yourself superior to others? What a damn waste of time.
And, yes, I did care about their personalities. All the women I've dated since I left: I've picked brains and heart over beauty and not regretted it for a minute. And even the people at the orgies I've attended: they don't invite just anyone who walks in off the street. You have to introduce yourselves to the hosts via email, explaining what you want, what you expect, and what sex means to you. They DON'T accept everybody. So "orgy space" is safe, courteous, respectful and hot. And I've been delightfully surprised to meet people I knew from elsewhere.
I once went to an orgy where one of the hosts reminisced about a woman who was asked to leave because she was talking trash about how fat some of the other women were. She was not invited back.
There are more things in heaven and earth (and under people's clothes), confucious, than are dreamt of in your philosophy.

Here's the advanced search page at epicurious.com.
Under "Courses," try whatever you want ideas for -- side dishes, you said? And under "Preparation," select "Quick". And there ya go :) You'll even get critiques/suggestions from other people who've tried the recipe.

You may say I'm full of myself, but I wasn't born with money and I got off my ass and made something of myself.
<Applause> -- but you're still full of yourself. We haven't heard a word about these two women's personalities -- we don't even know if you are aware of their personalities. It's all about you. I am glad you're thinking over Layla's, growedup's, and JT's posts.
Why is it so wrong to like beautiful women?
It ain't -- I like the ladies myself -- but you don't seem to see anything else but physical beauty.
And when you have sex with your husband, no fantasies of other guys pop into your head? Ever???
Sure, confucious, I have sexual fantasies about other people. I've even acted on some of them -- with my husband's permission.
But, dammit, I DON'T post on a db in front of thousands of total strangers, asking if I should LEAVE my husband for a younger, prettier piece of tail.
What I get real fussy about is hypocrites and people who question my motives and or call me shallow.
Well, you haven't given me any reason to think different, at least on this issue -- and tell me, where have I been hypocritical?
But to stand on your soap box and preach love and morality - YOUR own words convict you. You are totally moral? You have never done anything that was selfish or HURT other people's lives somehow???
When did any of us ever say that? You were just proposing to do something that most of us learned to be wary of about the time we learned to come in out of the rain.

Oh DAMN. I was hoping someone had inducted you into the Tribe.
Anyhow, wonderful work. I particularly like the intricate boldness of the "tribal" tattoos.

The Over-Commercialization of Christmas
by SanFranciscoJim inis anyone else on here as disgusted as i am that right after halloween we are assaulted with an unending barrage of television commercials advertising christmas this and christmas that?.
when i was a kid, it was unthinkable to advertise anything about christmas before thanksgiving.. nowadays, these smiley-faced rosy-cheeked actors are hawking their christmas wares to the point where it has become nauseating!
it's easy to read between the lines -- what they're really saying is: (on their knees with hands clasped) "please, please buy our products!

I must admit I see your point about the overlong Xmas ad season, Jim -- despite having been a Christmas Slut for all my non-jaydub life.
Actually, there were a few years when I really, really appreciated the reminder -- because until this year I began my shopping on October 1, nearly a month before Halloween.
This year, though, has been so tough that I just don't have the energy. We'll decorate, I'll buy three or four gifts for a few people I love dearly, and then have some real Christmas cheer -- cook dinner for a friend of my daughter's who has no other friends or relatives in the state.
And I did think money would be an issue, but today I was informed that my disability settlement is going to amount to an extra 1 1/2 day's pay per week -- for the next four years! Tax-free!

We live in a trailer, so space is at a premium. In the past I've put up half an artificial tree and decked it with slightly eccentric ornaments (frog prince, real seashells, vaguely testicular-looking strawberry/hearts - very pretty, actually) and more conventional stuff.
But in order to put up the tree, we have to take down my husband's keyboards. This year I don't want to choose between Christmas decor and live music, so my husband has promised me pine and/or holly branches affixed to the wall mouldings, for me to hang the ornaments from.
(Once I stuffed a few of the surplus branches into the mail slot and decked them out -- they were visible from the outside and I told everyone our tree was trying to escape.)
