  Did you have a relationship with your friend Jehovah?

  i remember watching that young people ask video "how can i make real friends".

  they were saying that jehovah can be your best friend, and you have to view him as a real person.. even when i was a jw, i could never buy into this crap.

  how can you develope a relationship if there's only communication one way?

  I tried; but he was just so poised and ready to zap me or open up the earth and swallow me at the drop of a hat.

  You know, what kills me is that this is exactly the way I felt about the Jeezus of the fun-damn-mentalist churches. This is what kept me an atheist until I was seventeen, and the jaydubs told me that the hellfire doctrine was all bulls***. (Not their phrasing, haha.)

  So I thought that meant that Jehovah was compassionate and loving and sympathetic, unlike the god of "Christendom." It is to laugh.

  it's a family thing....my 21 year old cousin is getting married to this freshly turned 18 year old dub chick.

  i'm sure the sex will be just incredible for them tonight, hahahahahahahahaha..... .

  They are way to young to be married and I really dont think the sex is cracked up to what it is at this age...

  When I married my first husband at 18, he was only 19 and we were both jaydubs. We expected the sex to be awkward at first. It took us months to get ...um... synchronized, and it was definitely worth the trouble. If you're going to marry young, it can work if you both have similar expectations of what marriage should be.

  Thirty years later, I'm still on my first husband -- he just won't go away. But our marriage has lasted longer than the jaydub thing; we left together in 1995.

  So, yeah, assuming the happy couple has some brains and are at least halfway observant of each other, this could actually work out. Jaydub or no. Mazel tov.

  Unusual Events at Assemblies

  i don't know why, but the posting about the apostates outside the tacoma dome made me think of an assembly i went to in portland oregon in the 70s.

  (ok so i'm dating myself)... anyway right in the middle of a talk (i think it was the sunday main talk) we had a streaker run through.

  i never laughed so hard in all my life!!!

  No, no. Sorry, hash browns are just potatoes, first grated raw, then fried. In butter, if the cook knows what's good for him.

  As a matter of fact, I can't think of anything I want, except someone to "play Christmas" with me; my family have admitted they just don't get it. Well, OK, my sister always was a Christmas slut, like me; she's getting Avon stuff, like she wanted.

  But I have friends. My two closest workmates are getting copies of Cirque de Soleil's Journey of Man show on DVD. Another work pal is getting a plush Spongebob Squarepants. My former witchcraft tutor is getting a CD of amazing dulcimer music from www.artistgeneral.com.

  When you moved, did you feel obliged to stay in the same congregation?

  here in quebec, people move alot.

  july 1st comes around, and every year about 10% of the population moves to a better apartment.

  i'm no exception, and during my dub years i moved about 5 times in 8 years, always trying to find a better or cheaper place.

  Here in the East (SF) Bay Area, the policy was to attend the congregation that worked the territory you lived in. Wasn't rigidly enforced, though. For a few years we went to a congregation whose territory we didn't live in just for continuity's sake -- we'd started there when we moved into town, but then couldn't afford any of the rents in that territory.

  butter or mayo?

  ok matty and i are having a disagreement (we'll tell you who likes what later after we get some input)... .

  when you eat a standard sandwich (made with flat white/wheat square bread with lunchmeat) which is a given: .

  1. that butter would be spread on the bread unlesss otherwise requested.

  I do not understand the concept of cold, buttered meat. And buttered salami? That's almost like buttered pork rinds! or buttered lard! (Mind you, I love salami.) The only reason butter should contact meat is to keep it from sticking to a hot pan.

  Mayo. Preferably with other condiments.

  Grilled cheese sandwiches are buttered on the outside before cooking, but they're held together with mustard and chopped garlic.

  And why is Miracle Whip so sweet? What a terrible thing to do to mayonnaise!

  i have eaten the grossest foods.

  i don?t get sea sick.

  Dentists; didn't get over it till too late to save my adult teeth.

  Also, unemployment (I mean beyond the normal worry: fear of instant death is what it amounts to), venomous bugs & animals generally, and any carnival ride faster than a ferris wheel. Bees (I CANNOT "just keep still" around bees like everybody tells you to. I can't trust them to just lose interest and wander away).

  Borderline phobias: Needles. Ants, but only in large quantities. Getting lost -- but I manage it rather than conquer it by NEVER leaving for a new destination without directions. NEVER.

  Anti-phobias -- things I like that other people are phobic about: Snakes (non-venomous), spiders (ditto: including tarantulas), bugs other than roaches or swarming bugs. Mice - not that I approve of their damn teeth prints in the butter.

  "Bianca," by Cole Porter, mercifully left out of the movie version of "Kiss Me, Kate" - which is the only musical I actually like. I mean! He rhymes "Bi-ank-uh" with "Poppa spank-a"! And the tune stinks, too.
