  How is this not a racist comment? I mean sure, it's a CULTURE, not a race but still...

  What if I made a similar comment about Jews? Or what if I called the inner-city black culture a "strange and ugly culture" just because a few of it's members shoot people or sell drugs?

  A first for me today--I voted!

  i'm not into politics and don't put much stock in the government having anything to do with my happiness, but i decided it would be a new experience and why not.. i have to admit it felt good.

  seeing democracy in action was great and as small as my 1 little vote is, it feels empowering to have a say..

  i am both new to this forum and new to the jehovah's witness organization.

  i am currently about half way through the 'what does the bible really teach?

  " and have been attending both sunday services and ministerial school for 3 months.. my biggest problem is that, being a researcher by nature, "verifying that all things are true," i have also been researching the organization which has stumbled me greatly.

  Even if they settled there would still be papers filed, along with some type of factual evidence that the family at least existed. I know I heard of jumpers at Bethel which I believe. I just have a hard time believing this story because of lack of any tangible evidence. It's just "I have a letter from the family". To my knowledge there isn't even a scan of the letter (could be wrong too lazy to do a search).

  At this point the ONLY hard evidence is that a young man named Jason Royer did die at the right time at the right age.
  That doesn't necessarily mean anything however.

  we had an interesting local needs.. first it clearly stated if you are not making all the meetings you will not make it in to the new system period no exceptions.

  they twisted the story of the red sea to make an example.

  saying you can not disobey once, or else you be left stuck in the bottom of the red sea.. from now on the elders will be making shepherding calls on those that are not attending regularly.. also, it was stated that if you know of any not attending regularly.

  The title was (gotta love the subtlety) "Even if you don't feel like it- Attend!"

  The PO who gave it mentioned the shepherding calls thing too.... but didn't use the red sea example.

  Sorry, but how is this crap? You DO hold a measure of responsibly for the actions of the person you vote for.
  That's the whole point of the democratic system. The reason this reasoning, as used by witnesses ,is invalid is that by NOT voting you are still responsible, and you still made a choice- to let others choose for you.

  If an evil Fascist dictator is elected, you are then somewhat responsible for not voting against him. [inkling]
