  Special Bethel Talk Last Week

  as you know i still attend all meetings with my still-in family.

  last sunday a bethel speaker came to our hall (crenshaw congregation) and gave two talks.

  one on "avoiding satan's snares" and the other on "showing patience towards jehovah and his organization.

  Yeah, it's nothing new, just newer people to listen to it I guess. College was NEVER an option for me but my hubby had a scholorship he turned down. We got married instead. We reallt regretted not having some sort of schooling. Our kids are going to college, no matter what. My sis-in-law, not a JW, got married at 16, had 4 kids then got her GED. THEN with 4 kids at home went on to be an RN, she now makes double what her hubby does. And all her kids are or have gone to college. But so did my G-ma, with 8 kids and an a**hole ex.

  At the last meeting I was at a brother said a girl in the hall asked him about college and he told her outright not to go. This is the same one who berated me for my large home. It's 4000 sqft and one of the smallest ones in the neighborhood. I just didn't want my kids to listen to this crap anymore.

  Hypothetical Question

  i don't pretend to know why the bible has the law about homosexuality being immoral.....the only reason logically is for having babies.. so my question is.. there are two gay couples left on the planet.

  will those couples go against their sexual preference to keep humankind from going extinct?.

  Gay and Lesbian couples are doing that now, scientifically. I think they would physically to keep the race alive. Think of Job's daughters, they did it with their dad thinking they were the only ones alive. Boy I'd hate to be there when they figured out they were wrong!

  mrs lob works in heath care admin.. last night she tells me there is an adult witness (in good standing that we knew while in) on her floor that is taking transfusions for a medical condition.

  that's all i know, no name, no gender, no age, no medical condition details.

  mrs lob takes hippa very seriously.

  In Need of Advice

  i have a friend that has just been diagnosed with stage four uterine cancer.

  i would love to get her a gift but i am unsure what i could do, send or say that would be helpful.

  any suggestions?.

  My grandma loved crossword puzzles. So when the cancer started eating her bones and she was bedridden, we would sit together and do puzzles. But mostly she enjoyed her visitors. Toward the end we played alot of Big Band 40's music for her.

  My brother-in-law really enjoyed old black and white movies, so the TV was always on.

  Having seen first hand though, the best thing they got were visitors. Even if they fell asleep they would want to be awakened to see them. So I would say to visit her and love her. Put lotion on her hands and feet and give her a mini massage. Or maybe take her a pretty flower. But just be there for her. It's gonna get rough.

  It's our first Thanksgiving and I am hosting it!

  Our menu is about the same, just no collard greens. And will have frog eye salad, Gr Grandma's speciality.

  We are going to have about 30. Mostly my hubby's family and my sister and her GF. I just found out today that there will also be a JW couple from Utah who are here visiting my in-laws. This ought to be fun! I wonder if they will come back and help deck the halls? Probably not.

  Help! I have a Xmas tree in my house!

  i am sitting here looking at my very first christmas tree set up in the foyer.

  a very good friend gave us a prelit 6 ft tree.

  my husband brought it home last night and i just couldn't stand it anymore!.

  Hey everybody! I just put the tree up yesterday to take the kids picture for our card. I took it back down last night. They looked so pretty in the picture.

  If anyone has suggestions about how to put a picture from "mypictures" onto a posting I will show everyone a picture.

  Next year we're going to get a really big tree, but this is a good "starter".
