i have no trouble with transfusions to save peoples lives but recently we went to a wedding and one of my little lads had been up to the buffet and come back with a plate of food, on it was little circles of black pudding (blood sausage), he didnt know what it was (i have never brought it home so he hasnt seen it before) but just threw it on his plate anyway.
while he wasnt looking i took it off and threw it away!
couldnt bring myself to let him eat it and i still couldnt eat it because of the background in jws.
The thing is that my wife and me have different rhesus factors that meant when my wife gave birth to our children she got that immuneglobuline made from large amounts of donated blood - which is JW approved!
I somehow feel that I should give it back by donating myself.

No, cannot due to an invisible barrier in my head. Regularly, at the medical department of my employer blood is donated. Each time I think about it but chicken out.
The same with food obviously made from blood. But I have no problem with game. But I look at the recipe of sausages if any blood is declared.

i got an e-mail today from an old high school friend who, after we met for coffee, said "wow, you're normal again!
i mean, you were boring, stuffy, and generally not much fun when you became a jw.
now you're back to the old so-and-so that i remember, i love it!
I was also raised a JW. These days I am having some eMail contact from a JW couple we are befriended with and that respect my stand. They asked if I would attend the memorial and the discussion went rather emotional. But at last we settled the issue and yesterday he wrote that I had changed dramatically and he emphasized that this was not meant negatively.
In my JW days I used to be a very judgemental person towards those who were not attending any more... :-(

While emphasizing the need of unity in matters of doctrine they state

Well, we all know that the WT even regulates such areas as employment, health, or recreation.
Then they add:

That means: do what the most extreme JW expect from you.
I think they wanted to make it appear that they endorse unity not uniformity. But we who were in know that JW are indeed the most uniform religion.

Yesterday, there was an interview of Iraqis living in exile in Iran. They said the Forces behave very unsensible by putting their flags everywhere an Arabic ground, something not understood at all. They said the US does not give a .... about Arabic mentality.
They said if the soldiers keep on behaving that way ALL Iraqis will hate them.
