The most obvious example to me is Hebrews 12:9,23 where the NWT renders 'pneuma' with 'spiritual live' instead of 'spirit'. The WTS tried to give a poor excuse in w81 3/15, p.31, saying "the New World Translation here paraphrases the expression with a personal touch".

6-1-2003 is NOT NEW Light on UN
by cort24r insee paragraph 2 and 12 below.
you and other are trying to take two different prophecies and say there is new light.
the 6-1-2003 wt is not talking about trevelation prophecy, but is talking about ezekiel and daniel prophecy.

A final attack on God's people is a final attack whether it is described in Ezechiel or Revelation or whereever.
Or do they say now: When we look at Ezechiel we don't know who will make this final attack, but when we look at Revelation we know it is the UN? -

Waiting Attitude
by GermanXJW inin a "next-issu"e-box i noticed that one of the july/august-issues contains an article about having a "waiting attitude".
does anyone already have the issue and could post the article here?
i think these kind of articles that try to explain the delay of the end are always a good read.

I beg your pardon?

questions from readers
by peacefulpete infor the past few years the questions from readers in the wt have been pathetic rehashes of old material, or just stupid newbie quetions answered in the pe book.
i know that they must be getting thouands of well thought out questions from sincere readers, yet none of these questions make the column.
i know that this is not surprising to many here.

I wrote to the WTS stating that I did not see the point in refusing Civil Service.
They did not respond in writing but our PO and the Service Overseer were called to come to the Branch Office.
After that they came to me and told me what they remembered they were told.
At the end, I said: I still don't see the point. They shrugged ... -

In Germany, the DC theme for 2003 has been changed from "Gebt Gott die Ehre" (Give the honour to God) to "Verherrlicht Gott" (Praise God).

Gilead School Courses
by VM44 inin the thread "jehovahs witness university" there are many humorous posts about what would be taught at a jw university.
in the thread it was pointed out that the jws do have a recognized school, gilead.. what i have never seen is a list of the courses taught at gilead.
they must have some structured curriculum in order to grant a diploma.

If I remember correctly there is a presentation in one of the WTS videos "To the end of the earth" or so.

Have you ever had a "part" in an assembly?
by doodle-v inwell guys, i've been part of this discussion group for about two weeks and i must say it's been really fun!
i always look forward to reading everyone's thoughts on so many different topics.. i grew up in the troof, so needless to say it was a major part of my life.
my whole childhood was engulfed in meetings, field service, book study, bible study, watchtower study.

I remember my very first part at a Circuit Convention when I was 7 or 8 years old. I was interviewd about witnessing to the class's teacher on religion.
I was also part of the above mentioned scene about bad behavior at meetings - was one of the bad guys.
Then I remember pretending to be a young JW who wanted to make the Kingdom Melodies more funky. I got loving advice from an elder on stage. :-)
My last part was about 3 years ago: I was a JW that neglected Kingdom Interests because I spent too much time with other things. I had to mention specifically the Internet. At this time I was already heavily involved with the Net. :-) That part was cool, I entered the stage, got rid of my jacket and tie, put my feet on the chair and then my conscience (another JW in the off) told me how I spent my time. :-)
Well, shortly thereafter I stopped going to the meetings at all. lol -

Convention Releases 2003
by GermanXJW indoes anybody already know what the releases at this years dc are?
-
GermanXJW
Thanks for your reply, Blondie.
So they are now releasing a map. Not that bad. Unfortunately they still focus on their special tenets like 1914, annointed, control and these cult characteristics. If they had continue to focus on serious stuff like maps, dictionaries etc. I maybe would not have left. Unfortunately, even if they change now (which I do not really believe) I do not care anymore.
