Very interesting article on this subject. In fact, it's all about freedom of conscience. Of course, JWs won't ever understand that, even though they call a lot of things a 'conscience matter'.

Do I Sit or Stand For The Anthem Now!?!?
by thedepressedsoul inmy conscience is so split now!.
if i sit, i am taking part in a political movement and getting involved in satan's system of things!.
if i stand, i am showing that i agree with satan's system and i am worshiping idols.. in all seriousness, witnesses loved this one because it made them "stand out".

NEVER SAY DIE
by compound complex insome men would despair to be in my place.. i am immobile; this would seem an irreparable blow to what i have always perceived as the defining characteristics of manhood: taking risks, conquering new territory, marching forward with confidence toward a future of assured promise and prosperity.
however, this injury to my legs has become the final blow.
over the years, my once sturdy frame has been weakened by chronic illness.

A cashless society
by fulltimestudent infor thousands of years some material form of money has been important in daily.
but now, all over the world, there is a move toward a cashless society - a society where out wealth exists in an electronic form.. perhaps, no other country has moved as quickly toward that notion than china.. a report today on china's peoples daily (english) web-site claims that 84% of chinese can now leave home without cash in their wallet/pocket.
as i understand it they will make payments via a smartphone app.. ( see: http://en.people.cn/n3/2017/0924/c90000-9273002.html ).

This is one of the reasons cryptocurrencies are becoming a bit more popular right now. I mean decentralized electronic money like Bitcoin, Ethereum and Monero, to mention a few.
Coins like Monero, that is highly privacy oriented, might somehow help reproduce the idea of cash in a highly electronic world. The only problem is precisely the fact that it's still electronic and requires modern technology and communication to thrive.
On the other hand, in countries like Venezuela, a huge Bitcoin community has been able to somehow counter the effect of runaway inflation and somehow protect some of the value of their hard earned money, even though the government tries hard to control everything.
At least this way, one could emulate the 'saving money under the mattress' world of the "past".
Just my 2 cents

Unacknowledged!
by Awakenednow inso...i watched the new netflix movie, "uncknowledged" by dr steven greer today fierce hearing to dj's discussing it on the radio, minds blown.
it makes a strong case for ufo's and totally screws up jw doctrine about the earth having the only intelligent life in the universe, as it is where the issue of universal sovereignty is played out and decided....the gb will need to do some fast talking.
it will be fascinating to blow some jw minds with this.

Hey _Morpheus, I agree with you. You did call him a fabled genius, which he definitely was. But, I had the fleeting feeling that you wanted to cancel that out by immediately saying that he was also a legendary liar. My intention with the linked article was to show that SOME OF THE CLAIMS might actually have been reality and not lies.
Talking about PERSONAL EXPERIENCES I can 100% understand that they carry a bit more weight than just hearsay. However, sometimes it's also hard to believe or understand what people claim to have witness.
Case in point, when I was aprox. 11 years old, I lived in the north coast of Honduras in a town called Trujillo. There was in town absolutely no TV signal (this was around 1977). The only official ways to get there was through a very damaged dirt road through the mountains (only during the dry season) or on a boat, a small DC3 plane also came once a week or so.
On that town, there was this very poor garifuna (black caribbean) 11 year old girl who was participating in a garifuna ancestor's ritual called dugu. We were also very good friends.
The weird thing is that this girl comes running to my house during a break in their ritual (she lived very close) and tells me how she just had seen her auntie crawling up a wall like a spider and speaking with a weird manly voice that her family claimed was some ancestor. I was completely astounded and she was totally scared!
To this day I can't explain what she actually saw. For years though, I used that as an example of the power of the demons... In fact, it was until many years later that I saw something similar in a movie. I couldn't understand how this poor little girl with no access to TV (absolutely no signal in town), no access to cinema or anything of the sort claimed that she saw what she said to have seen.
So I definitely believe that hearing from somebody talking about their own experience is much more interesting and, maybe, even compelling than hearsay. And sometimes there is no explanation to the experience.

Pale.Emperor And The Hypnotists
by pale.emperor ineven as a jw i was fascinated with hypnosis and seeing people like derren brown putting people under almost instantly.
in the last 2/3 years when i was a jw but beginning to wake up from the bullshit i read up on hypnosis, watched a few youtube demos and explanations etc.
but never actually studied it seriously until about a year ago.

I find this subject fascinating. As a young kid I read a book about hypnosis and wanted to learn more... readily I was given a very similar information from my JW mother.
All these years never thought about it, but always interested in altered states of consciousness like lucid dreaming or OOBEs. Maybe I'll start taking a deeper look at the subject.
Thanks for a fascinating post!

I finally got to watch the documentary and I do agree that a lot of the stuff is a bit on the stretched side. One thing I wonder many times as I watched, was why would these people go to the extremes they go if there is nothing to their claims. And I'm not talking about Greer but about the people who were interviewed... all these generals, politicians, engineers and the sort.
Are they somehow brainwashed? Definitely not by a specific person... more like by circumstances, personal experiences, etc.
Just found it interesting to observe how the human brain and belief systems work.
Concerning the comment about Tesla being a "legendary liar", it just made me remember an interesting article I read sometime ago... Was Tesla REALLY a crackpot?
Just my two cents.

I love your post S&R, I am also going on ten years after leaving and I have no regrets. I feel happier and have a feeling of satisfaction that only comes when you know you've been true to yourself. No artificially created guilt trips.
Thanks for the nice post.
