What about "third world countries"? If you're running around with a tablet or something of the like in public, you'll end up being mugged! -

My life After Bethel Part 1
by new boy inthe day i left it was pouring rain........i really screwed up, i found out the night before, as i was packing things up, that i had way under estimated how much stuff i had.
i had two large suit cases (that i could barely shut the lids on) and a large army duffel bag.
i would guess about 200 pounds of shit......my van was in rhode island with the engine out of it.

Hey New Boy, you have a very hypnotizing way of writing. I've read all your stories, and find them very interesting. I have no idea how many tours I was in in Brooklyn over the years. The picture from the outside was always one of a very special place and the eating opportunities were like, wow, sitting at god's table lol. It's nice to know the truth behind the curtains.
Thanks for sharing!

My Bethel Exoerience part 14 "The Courtship"
by new boy inmy strange bethel courtship started with me trying to meet mike stillman's sister, even though he worked in the ink room next to my elevator, we were not good friends, he was just a little to "country" for me........and on the self-righteous side too.
they say "there is nothing more dangerous in combat then a new guy with a map!
".........well, there was nothing more dangerous at bethel then a self-righteous new boy.. .

Your Jehovah’s Witness Is Showing
by David_Jay insince i just signed up and posted a few times without doing this yet, here is my story..
i think that i became a jehovahs witness because of my immaturity.
i had some quirky personality traits, and i joined finding that i fit in because, as i said to myself: these people get me.

Hi David_Jay,
Loved the experience! What an amazing life lesson.
I just recently finished reading "The science Delusion" (US Title "Science Set Free") and it made me realize that, even though in a lot of aspects we've gotten to a point where practicality dictates that our momentary understanding of science works and might be on the right track, there is still so much that we still do not know, and only an attitude of "I only know that there is so much to learn" will take us beyond our wildest dreams as humans. On the other hand, if, as it often happens, we think we're the owners of the truth, we'll end up just being stuck.
Your OP made me think about that again and, not only that, showed me how to put the whole thing in practice in real life. Oh and I am going to start using this with my x-jw friends: "Hey, your jehovah's witness is showing" more often.
Thanks again for an excellent writing.

Umbertoecho here.
by umbertoecho inhello people.. i'm tired and a bit sick at the moment but i can't let anyone think that this is going to go away.... i am able to tell you a few things in order to prevent any confusion in the minds of those who are thinking that nothing will come of this arc;that nothing will effect the wtbts in america and other places.. i have been there and given my testimony.
helen milroy and her assistants were there along with another group of people who are there to lend assistance if you crack up at any time during or after the hearing.
i did not crack up but can see how this happens.. security is tight and anonymity is sacred to them as they want to protect all who come forward.

Thanks for putting yourself out there in order to effect justice! Much appreciated. To me, this child abuse problem was what drove me out of the damaging organization and gave me the permission to look into other things.
Once again, many many thanks!

Funny grammar error in German Watchtower
by processor inthey seem to have laid off their proofreaders.
in the new 03/2016 study watchtower there is a picture description:a mature young person does not act like a friend of god at the kingdom hall but a friend of the world at school.
the german issue saysein reifer junger mensch verhalt sich im konigreichssaal nicht wie ein freund jehovas und in der schule wie ein freund der welt.

Did not know there were so many Germans here... vielleicht sollten wir uns irgendwann treffen! -

Elders, oh my God what a bunch of losers!
by Crazyguy inok i don't mean to put all of them into just one box so to speak, their are some that are smart successful etc.
but my god most of them are just wasted space, ignorant, no drive, horrible jobs, make nothing for income and the only thing in life they have going for them is this title.
no wonder so many will not wake up and hold on to this stupid cult, it's all they have.

I was also an elder and no, the description in the OP definitely does not match me. I am definitely smart, not just in my own perception, but also according to people in and outside of JW-Land. I always wanted to do the right thing, just like wasanelderonce did. Most of my life I've definitely had good jobs and worked in three different continents and actually lost track of how many countries, to be honest.
As an elder, a lot of the stuff was done sincerely believing on one level that it was the 'right thing to do', even though it did not compute, felt weird and wasn't loving. We were ALL brainwashed and, as we know, intelligence or the lack thereof has nothing to do with it.
By the same token, it can be compared with the shunning 99% of all JWs display. It might go against their "natural love" as humans, but because they've been mind controlled, they still do it, for if they don't, they might be destroyed in Armageddon. This behavior seen by an outsider, simply cannot be understood and it's consider almost inhuman and yet, we all ex-jws, at some point, were guilty of it.
What I mean is that, like in every big group of people, you can find anything among elders as you can find anything among any other population group, but generalizing is definitely not warranted.
