Thank you for all of this information! Earlier this week, the texts at Matthew 12 came to mind and I linked it to blood transfusions. Your additional info is greatly appreciated.

I have a sister-in-law who just had a baby, and not even a week later found out she has a tumor. She is going into surgery next week, and I would hate to see anything happen to her because she refused a blood transfusion. So I've been racking my brain for scriptural support, and this is it! I just want her to realize that it's HER decision, NOT the Society's when determining if anyone should get a transfusion. I was upset when that young mother in Europe died because of refusing a blood transfusion. It was a senseless loss.

lets for the sake of argument say that god views blood sacred and having a blood transfusion would be a sin.

the scriptures teach us that jesus shed blood is a ransom sacrifice that covers all of our sins.

the only unforgivable sin is rejecting christ after accepting him, therefore becoming apostate, correct?

From your perspective, that is an excellent point you have brought up. I started a thread earlier this week (the title was "Blood Question") and I raised the point that if blood saves a life, then why refuse a blood transfusion? More importantly, Jesus stated that saving a life is better than sticking to the letter of the Law.

i just had a thought about something... does anyone remember the text where jesus cured someone on the day of the sabbath and the pharisees got mad at him for doing that, on the day that no one is supposed to do anything?

because, if i remember correctly, jesus then corrected them and stated that it was better to help save a life than to obey every letter of the law.

where i'm going with this is, can't this scripture apply to the watchtower when denying someone a blood transfusion?

Awesome, thank you everyone! It's in my strict opinion (and most importantly, my conscience) that if a blood transfusion saves a life, then I'm all for it.

Gordy- Thank you for pointing out that Jews are allowed to have blood transfusions. I had no idea, and will research this further.

I was here at work when I thought of that text in Matthew chapter 12 and linked it to blood transfusions. I'll never understand the WT reasoning (you can accept fractions, but not WHOLE blood)... It still ticks me off whenever I think about how the WT condemned organ transplants for 13 years...

Does anyone know if the WT still considers it wrong to store your own blood if you're going to have a major surgery and you may need it?

PROJECT JERICHO--What are the advantages of a mass exodus?

i have seen lots of encouragement for us to 'unite' and accomplish something that would set back the wt society, but in such a diverse group as we are, it seems that even though we are together, we are alone.. has anyone thought of the possibility of 'semi' organizing a date certain for a bunch to abandon the organization?

kind of like the exodus, or someting along those line.

maybe a loosely organized letter writing campaign.

It's an awesome idea. If at least 50 people from each congregation in the US are able to stand up and walk out, it would definitely get noticed. But I don't even think half of that number would be willing to risk walking away from their families and be ready to face the eventual shunning. Plus the WT would come out with talks about how there's lots of "sifting" going on with the Organization.

Because, if I remember correctly, Jesus then corrected them and stated that it was better to help save a life than to obey every letter of the Law. Where I'm going with this is, can't this scripture apply to the Watchtower when denying someone a blood transfusion? If knowing that a blood transfusion can save a life, then wouldn't it be better to save someone's life than to stick to an "interpretation" of the bible? Does this make sense? I'd appreciate everyone's thoughts on this point of view...

since it has been such a useful tool in helping people see the truth about the lying duplicity of the watchtower, how can we get this message out to more in the organization?

Right, but it wasn't in the U.S. media. Unless it was on Univision (mexican TV station) or Telemundo (another one)....

I can be pretty sure that very, VERY few of the Spanish congregations would know about the UN scandal. Most of the mexican/spanish-speaking JWs don't even have a computer, and the ones that do, don't have the internet, and the ones that do have internet, barely know how to use it. I first heard about the UN scandal when I read it online (I stumbled across it looking for a JW forum). Has there ever been any kind of media coverage on the UN scandal? If not, then I can guarantee that most of the spanish-speaking JWs are missing out. I know that if I tried to show my family about the UN scandal, they would be very skeptical about it, and then probably just brush it off as nothing.

I personally feel this is HUGE. Why cancel the membership so quick? Why not keep it and say that you're trying to further the interests of the Kingdom? And finally, why didn't they inform all of JW-dom that they were joining as an NGO in 1992?

Not likely. It would probably involve Watchtower magazines and lots of coffee to stay up all night.

Make disfellowshipping an "open" committee.

And remove the rule about not talking to DF/DA'd people.

News from Mother ship

1. bethel in ny suspect high level apostate, cant identify it but know its there.

2. major organizational changes about to start rolling out, one is changes to the "service committee" and titles, po to be done away with, thats all i know for now.

was told that if you are the sort of person that cant handle changes, you wont stay in the org for long.
