the more i think about this the more crazy it seems.
two issues in particular are "the light getting brighter" and "the faithful and discreet slave".
both are huge concepts for jw's, yet both are essentially based on a single verse in the bible which clearly has a different meaning when you read the context.. why did i never see this?!
It's funny, but it's true. You never see these things when you're in, but once you're out, it's like a veil lifted from your eyes. I wish more Witnesses would wake up...

Eh, same ol' stuff. These talks are always filled with intimidating language. Those (3) prophecies he listed are pretty much all they've got. When none of them come to fruition, who's going to re-write their prophecies?

jehovah's witnesses basically define the term "apostate" as someone who was once a member of the "organization" (a jehovah's witness) but no longer follows the teachings, rules, regulations and practices.
the society gives their official definition in the following manner: "apostasy is abandoning or deserting the worship and service of god, actually a rebellion against jehovah god.
some apostates profess to know and serve god but reject teachings or requirements set out in his word.
Excellent post. All of the information you presented was concise and logical...everything that is anti-Watchtower.
I'm sad because there are still so many people stuck inside that religion, be it for family, social network, or have no where else to go, not realizing that Jesus could be right there with them.
Apostates are the greatest enemy of the Watchtower and they know it. The Watchtower uses more vile, relentless words against them than anyone else.
jw's think they are doing a work just like noah did before the flood.
they say that noah's witness lasted for 40 years.
other than a few traders who moved around, i doubt that most tribal people would be able to safely travel to see noah's work in progress.
This is a topic that has fascinated me recently. I looked up over 20 different translations (english and spanish) of Matthew 24:39 on the biblegateway website, and the texts disagree with how the Watchtower translated this text. From the WT point of view, they like to state that the people were warned but no one wanted to listen. But in the translations I read, it seems to me that the people in Noah's day had NO IDEA that the flood was coming! I even re-read chapter 6 and chapter 7 of Genesis, and nowhere do we find that God commissioned Noah to preach.
I brought this up to my mom, because of the recent Noah Watchtower article (I think it's either May or June), and she was confused at first. She says that there's a text in the bible that states that Noah preached for over 120 years! I was like, "What??" I asked her to find me the text, but she says she couldn't remember where it was at. (I can bring up these kinds of things to my mom, she won't turn me over to the elders). I even pointed out that the Watchtower writes that Noah preached, but there was no text to back it up. It's things like this, when the WT says something and then they fail to back it up with a text, that really piss me off!!

while growing up, my dad maintained a rather huge wts library.
i liked the idea of being able to pick out one of those old books from the1940s or earlier and read what they were saying back then.
well for the first time, in september of 2006 at the age of 40, i finally became a home-owner.
Definitely hang onto some of that literature. You want to be able to show people what they used to teach. It's one of the best ways to prove how misguided they are.
My mom had English bound volumes from way back to the 50's and she wanted me to take them, but I had no place to put them at the time, so she ended up throwing them all away. I regret not taking them and putting them somewhere.
If you decide to get rid of some of it, or you have extra's, let me know.
as a kid, i remember hearing that "the truth that leads to everlasting life" was the best-selling book of all time besides the bible.
if that's true, then whoever wrote the "truth" book is the second-best-selling author in the history of the world--second only to god!
ray franz's books mention the authors of several society publications, but i don't believe he says who wrote the truth book.
It sold millions, huh? And yet, it's useless. What a waste of paper.
