Not that I'm aware of. He simply said "And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age." He wasn't a very good JW, by current JW standards. According to the Watchtower, he was God's greatest Witness. You would think he would at least mention Armageddon in every sentence in order to instill that fear the way the Watchtower does. Or at least tell all the people who listened to his Sermon on the Mount that unless they're baptized and active inside God's Organization, that Jehovah wouldn't spare them.

That's funny. I pointed this scripture out to my mom about 2-3 months ago and it stumped her. It was as if she had never read this particular scripture before. JW's stick to certain texts for so long, they forget that there's other scriptures around them.

I have begun to issue 'Certificates of Merit..... Excellence In Shunning'
by AK - Jeff intwo weeks ago i sent the first one to a friend of 45 years who made a galloping escape down a grocery aisle and out the xpress lane to avoid my frightening middle aged wife, my 4 year old grandson and myself.
of course, i do sport a patch of facial hair now, and he likely imagined that he heard me asking the clerk for a gallon of fresh blood and three straws.
anyway, he moves quite well for a man of 71, so i gave him a nicely embossed certificate, suitable for framing.

Hello all!
I really need to get a copy of COC, but in Spanish. I've got a disfellowshipped aunt (who was D/F in 1993) but she is still very captive of the whole WT/FDS thing. (By the way, she didn't do anything "wrong", per se. She just stopped going to the meetings, and her own mother got her d/f'ed. The elders didn't even hold a judicial committee... This all happened in Mexico. I'm still trying to find out more exact details.)
I really feel sorry for her because she said that for 10 years, not one family member even uttered her name. Now her JW family only talk to her if they need something from her (a place to stay, money, etc.). She also said to me that she's simply waiting for "Jehovah" to give her a peaceful death and be forgotten... It's f*'ed up what this religion does to people! I started talking to her recently because I never really got to know her growing up.
Please, if anyone knows where I can get a copy, let me know! I've tried Commentary Press.com (they're still working on an updated version), Amazon, and Ebay, and I've come up with nothing. I'll even buy it off of ya...
Thanks a million...

Doctrinal ramifications of large increase in 2008 memorial partakers?
by yadda yadda 2 inthe nearly 10% increase in partakers at the memorial in the 2008 annual service report is a huge increase.
there were increases in the previous years too.. this massive increase is no doubt attributeable to the 'new light' this year that the calling of the 'heavenly class' was not closed in 1935, as previously taught.
the new understanding this year is that the calling of the 'anointed' class is 'evidently' still open.

I think the WTS screwed up big by opening up the door again in 2007. They have no choice but to leave it open now (I find it difficult to believe they would re-close it, with a different explanation of course).
Whether or not there are any doctrinal ramifications, we will just have to wait and see.
I seriously also doubt they're going to start teaching that everyone ends up going to heaven instead. The whole "paradise on earth" thing is the only bait they have to lure any people in...

NY Times: "Bad times are good for churches." Why so little JW growth?
by Seeker4 inin today's ny times there is an article on this topic, and here are two quotes:.
"bad times are good for evangelical churches.
'its a wonderful time, a great evangelistic opportunity for us,' said the rev.

Why so little growth? Because there's no real reason or urgency to rush to a Kingdom Hall. With a 100% prophecy failure rate, the WTS is cashing in on the old-timers and the ignorant. We also live in the Information Age, the age that will bring the end of the WTS.
