doomvoyager,
you said "Hateful and Disgusting Slave to give wedding rings the OK, Witlesses should be able to celebrate birthdays as well."
Im not at the point that you are, im still searching my feelings in a kind of luke skywalker way but for some reason to see you write that winds me up..
If you want to walk away and form that opinion, fine, I respect you for your clarity, but this week your giving a talk. If you don't believe it, if you are that sure that you can write Hateful and Disgusting Slave, than why do it, I dont care who you live with, take a tea spon of cement in your diet and harden the F*#k up.
I mean I can see how people can arrive at that, but thats their right, Im not there yet.
You saying that bold statement and then pretending to be a witness is so poor, be yourself or be a follower.
Are you a "witless"? If not say so, if you dont know, keep searching, if you are, log off.

Loose Conduct is a catch all.
Modesty is a catch all.
Offending weaker conscience is a catch all.
It has become the new : things sacrificed to idols, if no one if offended, if it doesnt bring undue attention to ones self its left alone. -

"This Generation" of 1914, ended in 1995. When did teaching begin?
by Fatfreek inas far as i can tell with google searches, it began sometime in the '60s.

is that also when awake, page 4, began its classic statement, "... before the generation that saw the events of 1914 passes away.

All hail the "organisation"
by jefferywhat inthis is just a rant from me today, something that i have noticed all my life, but now as an adult bugs me more.
the org has become a quasi god, it has its own "approval" which was cemented in 1918 and as a jw you cant question it at any level, you can question individuals( casue they are imperfect) but the org is perfect, it is theocratic therefore ruled direct by jesus, any mistakes are our fault.
the "society" is beyond reproach in the eyes of so many.

It makes you realise why there are so many non spiritual people in the org because all that is expected is unquestioning obedience to a fleshly organisation and you will be saved, spirituality is perceived through obedience to their rules.
Sure they encourage prayer and mediation and to " make sure of it yourself", but they dont support it culturally.
They have assumed the role of light receiver so ME as a dedicated JW has to look to them to be saved.
IMO its borderline idolatry, harsh I know and I may change my opinion after I have a coffee but it seems as though the WT symbol is like Moses copper snake.

Jehovah's Witnesses elders refusing to testify in Murrieta molestation case
by 9328737 in08:10 am pst on thursday, march 6, 2008. by tammy mccoy.
a legal battle is looming over riverside county's need to protect children, and people's right to practice religion without government intrusion.
a prosecutor wants leaders of a jehovah's witnesses congregation to testify about what a murrieta man accused of molesting two girls told them.

The borgs legal/corporate entities
by feenx inhey there,
i was reading an old post by barbara anderson, and she mentioned the "christian congregation of jws," which as i understood her post, is sep. from the wtbs.
so that made me wonder just how many corporate entities they have, what the purpose of each on is, and what information about those entities can be publicly accessed...

Breastfeeding not allowed.
by The Scotsman inshocker at the group last week..... i was at the group last week (1st in about 4 weeks) and the conductor (the p.o.
) takes a sister aside and tells her that she was not allowed to breastfeed her baby before or after the book study because "someone" found it awkward.. hmm, i wonder if it was him that found it awkward.. anyway the twist in the story is that the group meets at her house.
the sisters husband was far from happy but is to reserved to do anything about it.

Trust the british to be too reserved to tell a guy where to stick it when he suggests certain behaviors is wrong in your own house.
She should make him a cup of tea and give him some milk ;-) -

Questioning Russell's background is gossip, so don't do it
by Robert7 inso i attended the sunday meeting yesterday, and i saw an example of a preemptive strike against those questioning the borg's russel and rutherford.. after about 25 minutes of the talk of blah blah blah (i cannot even recall any details) the speaker concludes by saying (paraphrased):.
"there are those who wonder about the allegations made against russel and rutherford.
we do not know them, so isn't that gossip?

What makes you think other people in the audience didn't dismiss this comment?
Dont be to sure that there isnt thinking people within.
And really who cares if they were drunks or flirts? Man I would hate to have to look that closely at people. -

Debuty Dog, to Print does not only refer to mechanical printing.
It can be form of hand writing, a mark on textiles or an indent or scratch, so considering the Egyptians wrote on papyrus, we have been "printing" for well over 2000 years. -

Another buzz word a few have noticed as well is they are saying "wicked" less and "ungodly" more.
Small but noticeable.
