  i posted something similar on a different thread but it was blissfully ignored and i really think its worth a discussion.

  leolola touched on this in another thread and that is of the changes to alot of the eschatological beliefs of the wbts.

  a) 1935- no longer cut off for fds .

  With all due respect Alanv, these are not all old and are not all well known.
  
  Items b, d, f and g are very new and not yet in print.
  
  Those points ( and others) came out at the annual meeting and were then backed up in zone visits to the south east pacific and I imagine now the role out will continue.
  
  They are yet to appear in print.
  
  Feel free to quote a WT reference if I am mistaken.
  
  I am not trying to convince anyone of anything. I am simply making the observation and hoping someone can postulate as to why these changes are occurring.
  
  They are being backed up by a strong suggestion that the end is close and its going to be dangerous and will affect one and all not just JW's.

  Leolola touched on this in another thread and that is of the changes to alot of the eschatological beliefs of the WBTS.
  
  a) 1935- No longer cut off for FDS
  
  b) 1914- No longer the time period of "these things" that the "generation" had to see, it is no "all" these things including Armageddon.
  
  c) The generation has changed to a group that has no year reference or age reference attached.
  
  d) Leaving Babylon the great no longer applies to the inspection of 1919 and has a different meaning now ( no longer fleeing false religion)
  
  e) Sheep and goats long gone.
  
  f) "Dragnet" illustration no longer applies to JW's specifically.
  
  g) Cry of peace and security down played.
  
  h) All they are waiting for is the King of the North and the UN to attack us and this will effect the whole world not just JW's.
  
  
  What is going on here people, this is major when looked at as a whole, a major shift has occurred and its happening so slow its almost unnoticed.

  Regarding "The End Is So Close" Thread

  i just had another take on that thread, so i decided to start a new one.. i've been going to the meetings off and on lately, so for the ones of you who haven't been in a while, you would not believe how much the the borg is constantly repeating that phrase over and over again.

  its like they are trying to spook everyone out.

  so everyone is constantly saying that phrase over and over, and i mean everyone.

  I agree with Billy.
  
  I am in and have been saying on various posts that there is a very strong whisper campaign at the moment.
  
  Some of the elders are really pushing this idea and some have backed it up in my area by selling houses and pioneering.
  
  I have also mentioned some months back that the society is going to change so much that "if you cant handle change you wont hang around".
  
  Most of Jesus illustrations are being changed and alot of the prophetic understanding are becoming less specific and more literal which suggests to me a major change at the base of the eschatological tree.
  
  They are pushing three things, fear, guilt and absolute obedience. i.e we should preach more otherwise we will be blood guilty and fear in that terrible things are going to happen and if we are obedient to the FDS we will die.
  
  Where is this headed? People are really buying into this wholesale.
  
  Is it to counteract the fact that by changing the generation to the anointed, losing 1935 and "all these things" no longer applying to 1914 the end seems to be further off? Also, the cry of peace and security may already have happened or maybe wont be a big deal.
  
  If we take away these dates, we are left with none. All we are waiting for is the King of the North and the UN to attack us.
  
  This is the new "carrot" and it is based on fear, at any point it could happen.

  Question for you born ins

  when i was growing up as a born in jw, i remember the fear that dfing stirred up within me.

  as a kid, seeing a df'd person was quite a scary thing.

  thinking back about how it was growing up, it occurred to me that at the time, i never realized that a person had to be baptized in order to be df'd.

  The evolution & creation dilemma? It’s driving me mad

  my mind has been twisting for a few months now.

  i suppose i am trying to fill the void left by the faith ive lost.

  but i am trying to make sense of what is.

  A couple of things to keep in mind.
  
  1. We are not the majestic end of the evolutionary process. This is a common misconception.
  
  2. The Darwinian theory has pretty well be rejected, he thought in more of a linear fashion, we now know it was far different.
  
  3. Evolution is a process not a causation.
  
  4. The Neanderthal were very closely related to us but very different to us anatomically, I could list them but they are numerous. They would have looked like say JK666 on the outside but vastly different internally. Evolution must be responsible because Jehovah didnt create the Neanderthal.
  
  5. If you believe in God the process of creation is irrelevant, Genesis gives us no detail, if you dont believe in God then purpose is irrelevant so who cares how.
  
  6. Mitochondrial DNA evolves all the time and we dont find that hard to grasp.

  One easy question to stump a JW

  for quite some time i have been tossing around the idea that there has to be a question out there, a question that can cut straight to the heart of what it means to question the watchtower.

  last night while doing some mindless tasks i think that question may have come to me.

  hey Drew,
  
  A side point I know but what doesnt add up for me is that Jesus was enthroned as king in October ( its always October) 1914.
  
  Satan was thrown down in 1914( we "know" this because of because of WWI,) but WWI started in August, Not October.
  
  Even if we say Satan was thrown down earlier, he managed to immediately organise a world war, in like no time, but it took 3.5 years for Jesus to "cleanse" the heavens in preparation for the heavenly resurrection.
  
  Why would that take 3.5 years? And why is Satan a quicker organizer?
  
  But the response you would get to your question is predictable and no where near as crazy as the random numbers at the end of Daniel pointing to JW conventions in the 20's.

  A friend of ine who is pioneering in Auz emailed me the other day and said all pioneers have been offered free language lessons and have been encouraged to join a foreign language group.
  
  I personally think most of the current growth ( without being negative) is coming from a) the 15 minute allowance for the elderly and infrim. b) refugee and expats ( alot join for friendship, and free english lessons)
