  happy new year to all :)

  so i'm curious if anyone has further info/dirt on jaracz or any other gb members (former or current).

  i know jaracz was publicly accused of molesting a young girl (now an adult).

  So I'm curious if anyone has further info/dirt on Jaracz or any other GB members (former or current). I know Jaracz was publicly accused of molesting a young girl (now an adult). Also I've read that he is a major policy maker on the policies regarding child abuse reporting, which makes perfect sense. Wondering if there's been any more info that has come out about him since 2002 at the Silenlambs march in NYC. Any other developments with GB members?

  Question for Active Witnesses: What Makes You Stay?

  I had an interesting conversation with my still active mother last week. I asked her point blank if she ever stopped to think that maybe not everything the society told her was right. She said that she had. Yet she still stays. My guess, based on things she's stated in other conversations, is that it's because she still believes that in order to "properly" serve Jehovah she must be part of what she believes was/is his Earthly organization, and that even though it's not perfect, she "loves" Jehovah and will do what it takes to "serve" him. Also that in any event the "world" is certainly much worse and hence despite the bad things with the organization it's still the best place to be.
  
  Is this the same for other active Witnesses? If, even on a very small level, you feel that something stated and enforced by the society is not right, what is the motivating factor that makes you continue to live your day to day life by all the other things the society says?
  
  I ask simply because I am curious, and want to try to understand. As far as I'm concerned if someone is GENUINELY happy as a Witness, great. I just want to know what the motivator is.

  HUMANIST GNOSTIC: I believe firmly in experiencing all elements of being a human, as I feel it is important to in discovering true self, making the most of the here and now, and who knows, perhaps that will lead to something better for me in the future.

  How Do Elders Sleep at Night? a non exJW friend asked me

  hey everybody

  so after my post yesterday in reference to the scan of the flock book, then going over the notes taken by the elder in north carolina in reference to child molestors taking authority roles in the congregation and the society instructing for previous records of their abuse to be destroyed, (which btw i love how it's noted that it's a rare case when that happens.

  umm...doesn't that just confirm that it has happened, since it's rare, and not just a "policy") i sent the photos to a friend of mine as we were discussing it all.

  So after my post yesterday in reference to the scan of the Flock book, then going over the notes taken by the Elder in North Carolina in reference to child molestors taking authority roles in the congregation and the society instructing for previous records of their abuse to be destroyed, (which BTW I love how it's noted that it's a rare case when that happens. Umm...doesn't that just confirm that it HAS happened, since it's rare, and not just a "policy") I sent the photos to a friend of mine as we were discussing it all. She was horrified and asked how to Elders sleep at night. My reply was that really their level of denial and illusion must be even greater than the rank and file dubs. As agents of middle management not only do they have to believe in the greater good of the organization more than the average publisher, but they also have to be so blind that they can somehow rationalize the destruction they cause and enforce to so many lives peoples lives. In that sense it would seem that the Elders are worse off than your average publisher.
  
  On top of that it's quite disturbing to think of the fact with the directions in the Flock book and the instructions given in the KM schools essentially trains a criminal. Elders who have already abused children, or have such desires are now taught how to evade getting caught and prosecuted.
  
  And the fact that EVERY single male member of my family (other than me obviously) on BOTH sides of the family (including a pedophile) has read, studied and made notations in this book and attended the KM schools.
  
  *shivers* I think I've just given myself the heebie geebies :/

  Non canon books of Old Testament, coincide in any with Gnostic gospels?

  So I have read about the gnostic gospels and will soon be diving into the Nag Hammadi Library. Is anyone familiar with the non canon books in the old testament? curious, though it would seem unlikely, if there are any references or passages that elude to what Gnostic gospels say, that YHWH was not the supreme god. Though there are passages in the canon of the old testament that can be looked at that way, such as in Genisis when YHWH says "Let us make man in our image." Who was the "us" and the "our" and other similar readings. So has anyone come across anything in that vein in the non canon books?

  Who else is celebrating Xmas for the 1st time this year?

  this is the first year i am celebrating, found some greatt worldly friends lol who are determined to make my 1st xmas the best ever.. interested in who else is celebrating for the 1st time.

  how are you feeling about, i have mixed emotions at the moment.

  feel like a naughty kid about to do something sinful lol.

  I kind of celebrated last year, but this is the first year where I will be with family (GF's fam) and have spent lots of money on fun presents :) Though I still have no desire for a tree or lights at my place ...?

  today i am at a loss.

  i am in the midst of writing my life story and though it so far has been extremely therapeutic it is also bringing out some demons.

  it is now really starting to affect my relationship with my gf.

  I do see a counselor about once or twice a month, depending on cash flow. My lovely health insurance through work doesn't cover outside therapy :/ But the therapist has been a tremendous help.
