Krett, thank you for detailed answers. I have great respect for anyone who is willing to do such an in depth spiritual self-assessment.

It is my hope (and it is my literal prayer) that you will one day pray to become born again. When you do, the Holy Spirit will imperceptibly regenerate your spirit and make it alive to Christ (until you are born again your spirit is dead in sin--Ephesians 2:1). When you pray to be born again the Holy Spirit comes to live inside you (Romans 8:9, 1 Corinthians 3:16, 2 Timothy 1:14, James 4:5, Ephesians 4:30) and He makes the Bible understandable in a way that was not possible before.

Your comment made me laugh out loud. After being born again no one will be yet be perfect. Not even ex-JWs. However, after being born again the Holy Spirit will remind you to pray for forgiveness when you do sin, and God always instantly forgives us when we do (1 John 1:9).

As a side note, something fun to think about: God is a holy spirit without a body. Before Jesus was born (begotten) as a human to Mary, He too was a holy spirit without a body. John 1:18 says that before Jesus was born to Mary He, as a holy spirit, was in the bosom (the very center) of God, also a holy spirit. Two persons existing as one spirit?

Dear Paul From Cleavland, Revelation 21:4 states that after the 1st resurrection (of the saved), and after the 2nd resurrection (of the unbelievers), and after the final judgment, and after the new earth is created, and after the Father and the Son put their throne onto the new earth to live with humanity for eternity, THEN Jesus will wipe away every tear and there will be no pain, no curse, no suffering ever again. You win!

Remember, God moves the "holy city" of God's abode from spiritual heaven to the "new Earth" after Jesus creates the new Earth (Revelation 21:1-2). Then, the Father and the Son move their one throne to the city on new Earth and live with the believing humans there forever (Revelation 22:1-2).

Whether you want to call it paradise earth or heaven, that is where we live, in the literal presence of the Father and the Son for all eternity. Somehow, I doubt it will be boring, though I have no idea what life will actually be like.

Krett, thanks for the expansion. I am curious, what do you presently believe about:

- Jesus, is He God (same substance as the Father) or less than God (a little so-called god who should not be worshipped and prayed to)?

- the Holy Spirit (not a person, not the same substance as the Father)?

- are you born again?

- are you indwelt by the Holy Spirit?

Has anyone read The Shack by William Young?

my mother called today said i must, must, must go get this book and read it.

i see it every time i go to the book store but thought it had something to do with religion so i didn't want it.

i'm going to get it on friday and read it this weekend just wondered if anyone else had read it..

Personally, I really like fiction. I loved the DaVinci Code! Hate the stupid and humanistic pseudo-theology, but enjoyed the fiction! The Shack is fiction, not a revelation of God. If you like fantasy-fiction fine, but know that the book is not teaching anything real about God, and may even introduce untruths. It is fiction and should not be taken as religion or informative about the true God.

Greetings sacolton,

I re-read what you and kret said. To qualify what I am about to say: I am a born again believer, indwelt by the Holy Spirit, who is utterly convinced that the Father, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit are one God comprised of three persons (which is why God told the Jews to say "the Lord is one" instead of "we have one Lord").

However, kret makes a very good point. If, as your post seems to say, any JW who claims that born again persons are demon possessed is himself blaspheming the Holy Spirit, it implies he has committed the unforgivable sin and thus cannot be saved. Since many JWs have been saved, it follows that they have not committed the unforgivable sin. Therefore, merely accusing born again Christians of being demon possessed must not be the unforgivable sin.

Having said that, what the scribes and Pharisees did when they accused Jesus of being controlled by Satan is to deny that He was the Messiah, God come to earth, attributing to Satan all that the Holy Spirit was doing. I suspect that the unforgivable sin is to never repent of accusing the Messiah of being filled with Satan instead of being filled with the Holy Spirit.

When I was having a "Bible study" with a team of Witnesses, I was surpised and flat-out dumb-founded when they told me that anyone who is "born again" and "indwelt by the Holy Spirit" is actually demon possessed.

Then I asked them how to interpret the words of Jesus that said that you cannot even see the Kingdom of God unless you are born again--they were dumb-founded (a first for them I think).

hen I asked them how to interpret all the various passages that say if you are not indwelt by the Holy Spirit you are not a part of Christ (see Romans 8:9-11, 1 Corinthians 3:16, 2 Timothy 1:14, James 4:5, 1 John 5:6). I am still waiting on an answer. Someone on this forum once said that JWs have an answer for everything...actually, they don't.

I can see no reason for me to take personal offense at anyone who states, "I despise religion." Religions are practices and beliefs of people, but they are not the people.

I can see no reason for me to take personal offense at anyone who states, "I despise homosexuality." Homosexuality is a practice of people, but it is not the people.

I would consider taking offense at anyone who states, "I despise the people who practice religion or who practice homosexuality." For the hatred is now no longer toward the action or the philosophy, but the hatred is fixed on living human beings. That is offensive.

im just gonna do a recount of what types of people we will find in hell:.

women with respect for themselves, natural scientists, atheists, agnostics, buddhists, hindus, everyone from the center to the far left of the political spectrum, homosexuals, sexually liberated people.. and what types of people we will find in heaven:.

sexually restrictive, far right, wife abusing christians.. i would pick hell any day.

That is exactly the point of what I said in the "Does Hell Exist?" thread! Thank you for that perspective LucyA!
