It seems like they've changed all the songs in some way, not just the lyrics to fit "new light" but the music too. But I doubt it will sound any better, their music sucks. I heard that they'll be really fancy and have that shiny paper edging like the Bibles. I'm gonna make sure to order a few and use up their precious funds.

Perfectionism
by lriddle80 indo any of you suffer from perfectionism?
i do and it may be the message that jw's put out there.
growing up in that religion, it's all about doing more, field service, meeting attendance, study, conventions, etc.

Ive felt the same way sometimes, like nothing I do will ever be good enough for god or my parents. I also have an eating disorder that I struggle with sometimes. But it helps me to go on sites like this that remind me that jws are wrong and that I don't have to be perfect anymore

At a Cong I used to go to, there was an elder and a ministerial servant that lived together, and seemed very close. I thought they were obviously gay, my mom did too, but I guess nobody dared to question.

Did the flood happen?
by BlackWolf inso we were talking about noah for our family worship tonight and it ended with a little debate between me and my parents about how the flood was possible.
you know, where did the water come from, how did all the animals fit, etc.
of course it led nowhere and my parents came up with some strange theories like that there was "an expanse of water in the sky" and that's where all the water came from.

Well at least whenever I begin to fear armageddon again or doubt myself I can think of this kind of ridiculous stuff. :) Unfortunately there seems to be no hope for my parents, even though I know deep down they aren't really stupid. I can never seem to understand how people can be so against thinking logically. I feel sorry for them sometimes. Regardless, it's an interesting topic to think about. -

So we were talking about Noah for our family worship tonight and it ended with a little debate between me and my parents about how the flood was possible. You know, where did the water come from, how did all the animals fit, etc. Of course it led nowhere and my parents came up with some strange theories like that there was "an expanse of water in the sky" and that's where all the water came from. That the water cycle was different back in the day lol. I think that's BS. So I'm looking for some solid scientific facts as to why this cannot be true. And if you think the flood did happen please explain with scientific facts only!! Thanks in advance.

I'm getting baptized
by BlackWolf ini know i've started similar topics before but this time i'm serious.
my parents have been constantly pressuring me and after yesterday's watchtower study they asked me if i was going to be baptized this summer... and i said yes.
i probably should have thought about it more before making a final decision, but they're pretty much forcing me to do it anyway.

I'm by no means an " obese and unintelligent couch potato" but I don't think joining the military would be good for me. Thanks for the advice anyway. If I joined the military my family would truly view me as demonic and I don't think I could take that. Im sure things will work out somehow, or at least i have to hope.

Are they either leaving or going full on 'cult mode'? No quarter.
by punkofnice init might just be me imagining things.. i hear things from my jw spies.. from all that's being said, it seems to me that the rank and file(tm), are either waking up to the scam and fading/leaving.
they are going full on 'cult mode' and acting like 'spiritual police'.. is it just me and my imagination?
have others noticed this?.

I have noticed people are acting very strange in my Cong since the convention. They all seem very paranoid and desperate. My mother keeps telling me how the great tribulation is coming any day now and how excited she is. I've told her before that I don't want to be a witness, so I guess she's looking forward to my death? Or maybe she just thinks I've changed my mind? Anyhow, the witnesses are driving me nuts lately! The only "end" in sight is hopefully the end of this stupid cult! I too have noticed that some people have become more inactive and some, like my parents, have just become more insane.

Russia's Supreme Court shuts down Church of Scientology
by OrphanCrow inrussian church welcomes shutdown of "moscow church of scientology".
moscow, july 1, interfax - the russian orthodox church has welcomed a ruling by the russian supreme court which yesterday upheld the legality of a shutdown of the "church of scientology of moscow".
"the upholding by the supreme court of the legality of the shutdown of the so-called church of scientology is seen as an important precedent demonstrating the state's determination not to recognize as religious those organizations that use people's religious feeling for malign purposes, " russian orthodox church spokesman vakhtang kipshidze told interfax-religion.the ruling in the scientologists' case is not a breach of the religious freedom since "it was proved in court that the very activity of this organization is an affront to human freedom as such," kipshidze said.the russian orthodox church regularly comes into contact with people whose membership in totalitarian sects left them deeply wounded spiritually and mentally, ruined their lives and happiness, the spokesman said.

Today at meeting my mother and another sister were talking about how crazy and ridiculous scientologists and Mormons were. Saying things like "how could you believe that stuff?", or "why would anyone live like that?"
I just don't understand how people can be so blind and hypocritical!! I bet the Mormons and scientologists say the same things about jws.

I have a friend who's going to an international convention in Amsterdam in a few weeks. It really seems like there's a lot of weird strict rules about it. I would never go to one, I hate planned trips.
Did you like Finland though? I always wanted to go there.
