  Is this country anything like it was in those salad days of the past? Are moms at home baking cookies and waving from the kitchen window while Johnny shoots targets in the back yard? Does dad come home from the factory with an empty lunchbox and a smile on his face, throwing it down to eagerly help Johnny with said targets? Does all of Maple street leave the doors unlocked? Do Johnny and Suzie shyly think about getting to first base? Is Officer Krupke on the beat, making sure everyone is "OK"?

  This country is nothing like it was in the past, and that is precisely why keeping and bearing arms is more important now than ever. The "studies" that all anti-gunners seem to be able to pull out of their asses at the drop of a hat are interesting pieces of academia, nothing more.

  By the way, tell Suzie that Johnny isn't nicknamed "3 fingers" for nothing.

  Formula 1 starts this weekend!

  to other race fans,.

  i have been waiting for months for the beginning of the 2008 f1 season.

  the first race in australia is this weekend, and since i bleed red, i hope ferrari dominates.

  My insane JW friend takes me to lunch...

  yesterday, i get a call at work from my old jw buddy, who btw doesn't know my true feelings on religion.

  he offers to buy lunch so we go to a local burger joint, sit down, and start swapping stories like always.

  we see each other once or twice a week, share many common interests, and generally get along well.

  Yesterday, I get a call at work from my old JW buddy, who BTW doesn't know my true feelings on religion. He offers to buy lunch so we go to a local burger joint, sit down, and start swapping stories like always. We see each other once or twice a week, share many common interests, and generally get along well. My friend, who shall now be called "Roy", gives me the lowdown on all the happenings in his life over the past couple weeks. Family family work blah blah blah...same old BS.

  Now comes the interesting part, and also I think that a little background info is warranted. This person, Roy, is a former MS in the local cong. 2 years ago, Roy left his wife, lost his MS position, started smoking, started carrying a gun, threatened 2 elders, and slept with at least 10 different women that I know of, and I know because I've met them and saw things that are better left unsaid. Well, to make a long story short, Roy decides to come clean. On the day of his JC, Roy tells me that after giving the BOE the rundown of all that he's done over the past 2 years, and I beleive him when he says that he told everything, they decided in about 10 minutes to reprove him and not DF him.

  Roy's response when I looked at him after telling me this and saying "Holy Shit", was "Well, they made a bunch of changes over the past couple of years, and now it's extremely hard to get DF'ed". I bit my tongue while silently crying BS on everything he said, knowing that the JC he dealt with was made up of his friends.

  What a load.

  Need to vent & get advice....

  my sister, that is also df'd, just called me.

  she has ms and it is starting to flare.

  she keeps falling down because she doesn't have strength in her legs and her speech is starting to slur.

  educated elder or uneducated elder which was the best ?

  the ones i know are either life long window cleaners with little education behind them or ex army /police /teacher types that are used to public talking and a bit of power , which ones did you find were the best elders ie kind and caring , i would go for the uneducated window cleaner /manual worker type by my experiance , in fact it was because the intelligent ones believed it was "the truth" that made me think well it must be true if he believes it

  I don't think their education level really matters. The simple fact is that some people are just born dicks. They're dicks as elders and they would be dicks if they sacked groceries or directed a nuclear power plant. I'm assuming that reaching the level of elder almost assures that you are a dick because of Darwin's "Survival of the Dickheadedest".

  Memorial conundrum - "So good to see you. Where have you been?"

  this is the first year that we will be showing up without having been to meetings in months.

  on the last meeting i was cajoled into attending, i was bombarded with the above question.

  I'm using the fact that since I've stopped going, my wife, a Latina, has started attending a Spanish congregation with her sister. "No habla Espanol" is the only phrase I'll need that night. Plus I get to eat Mexican food that night. YeeHaa!
