We didn't sway, that would be too emotional. However, once my buddy and I made "Loyal Love" rhyme:
Loyal love / Gove is love / all His works / His goodness "pruv"
Everyone around us giggled a bit, but they were still stock-straight...
why did we used to do this?
whenever we sang/prayed we used to sway like crazy lol.

my wife and i have discussed this before , and it has been an education for me getting out of the jehovah's witnesses over 4 years ago to see the difference in how witnesses and non-witnesses view this subject .
my wife before we met had some guy friends who she had non sexual friendships with and she was amazed when we first started dating when i told her how strict the witnesses were on men and women hanging out together alone just as friends , and that when i was a witness i never did that - at the risk of being falsely dragged before a committee if i was found in public alone with a witness woman !
my wife was amazed at the lack of trust that the elders had in each one of us as rank and file members !
Aude: Now that is out of the Twilight Zone for sure!
To this day I have NO female Witness friends (perhaps now it's for different reasons...). Starting about 14 there was no opportunity to meet girls unless interested in them for marriage. Since I never had the slightest interest in marrying a girl, from that point on I don't think I barely spoke to a Witness girl, with the exception of sisters of boyhood chums.
I don't think I realized this before. I don't know any single Witness or former Witness women!
i never used to see much for interesting wildlife until i moved into my house 3 years ago.
i've seen some neat stuff.
there's lots of woodpeckers around here.
Roadrunners, hares, coyotes, quail in the neighborhood. A higher than average ownership of exotic pets and the concentration of performing animals int the area leads to occasional interesting escapes.
i took freedom frogs personality test yesterday, three times.
my lowest introverted score was 67. i think that borders on recluse.
are you comfortable with that part of yourself?.
ITSJ - Introverted, Sensing, Thinking, Judging. Very internally oriented. Leads to sympathy and empathy with others, having gotten to know myself as well as I do. PS - IQ 156, they tell me, though that was long ago and I'm sure the senility has started to balance that out (besides, IQ is age-range adjusted and tends to flatten over time).
Do you think you are too introspective because of your chosen isolation?
It's a self-reinforcing system, yes. But much of my work is analysis of processes and systems, which has a highly introspective component.
In my case, a lot of my introversion is due to trust issues, I experience anxiety in groups. But at work I can engage with lots of people (serially), and can speak in front of groups (thanks, Theocratic Ministry School); it doesn't require a level of intimacy which I can hold in reserve. Interacting is a skill I can "turn on". But off the clock - hate parties, hate get-togethers, throw me a chocolate chip cookie and a good book and I'm fine.
I'm really comfortable around only a small handfull of people, and even then I don't do well when I'm with the lot of them at the same time. Thankfully, I'm ok with my partner, another introvert.
i'm sitting by the fire drinking a bud light in a wine glass trying to decide what movie to watch while i do the dishes.. besides checking in on jwd that is..
Cat on the lap, playing "reader" for a friend's new novel - wishing for fudge, now...
never believing that a foreskin was a birth defect, i left my sons intact...( called genital integrity in some circles).
what, if anything, makes circumcision less of a mutilation than fgm?.
dont kill the questioner!!
Good for you, OrangeFatCat! It's time you were treated with respect!
i came to this site initially to research about jehovahs witnesses.and oboy what i learnt.
goodbye to that believe system.. but was it really necessary that i also now no longer see the bible as the word of god ?..and am turning athiest...?.
Pain is inevitable, suffering optional.
Actually there are a lot of "believers" here, too!
i've had something happen to me at work and i just need some opinions .... i work at a store where i am the only female employee.
we were short handed these past two weeks because someone quit and the new guy doesn't start until monday so they got a guy from another store to come fill in.
i hardly know this guy except for him talking to me about business related things.
Would have totally freaked me. I have zero tolerance for such groping about in my sex life. Should be treated with directly, strongly, by management. This should be the one wake-up call the guy gets, and if a second performance occurs, boot him. Uncool and not-ok.
i asked the three elders who disfelowshipped me this question.. basically, they replied, "the society would never tell them to do that".
thats not my question.
if they told you to, would you?.
Yes. Maybe not all, or half, or many. But at least some, and more than I think I can safely contemplate and not start worrying (I live in a place with a big airport and lots of buildings).
notice that the dubs are in their "hall" clothes (which is not unusual) .they must be expecting molesters at the khall.
.
Wonder if their stupid "If ya don't scream, it's fornication" now applies to kids.
Oh, Avi! Too funny/painful! Yes, put it back on the kids, of course - fits right in - Brother Molester was *seduced*! Not his fault at all!
