Yes, a comparative study of all Christian denominations may show that many fall into this category, however his premise was assuming the JW's were "the truth".
Suppose the Bible Students were correct (Pre-Rutherford), then it would seem from studying those scriptures that the WTS is much more guilty of being the wicked slave rather than the Bible Students (Which the WTS claims is the wicked slave).
I don't personally feel that this is speaking about either group, but if the supposition listed above were correct then that is the way I would lean.

IMO ~ Who Is The Evil Slave And How Can We Tell?
by Flash inimo - who is the evil slave and how we can tell?.
matthew 7: 15 ~ 23 'by their fruits you will recognise them.'.
it's apparent by their conduct, that after waiting 35 years and seeing 1914 fail to bring armageddon, the slave that was faithful turned evil.

Unconditional Love
by hamilcarr ini'm struggling with the concept of 'unconditional love' or friendship.. does it really exist?.
if so, how would you define it?.
thanks..

I've been thinking about this term recently as well. Can you think of anything that you would love as much if it were not what it is? If it becomes what it currently is not, then it is something else. Then, you can only love it in principal.
Like, "I love this woman." Why do you love her? She is sweet, has a nice sense of humor and you found that at one point you really connected. Then you notice she begins lying and thinking only of herself, she leaves for years and forgets who you are and meets someone else. Do you still love her unconditionally? If she is different, you are actually loving something that can someday become something else.
If that is the case, I think you can only love something or someone unconditionally if you love everything and everyone unconditionally. If you love one thing, and hate another, and then the loved thing becomes identical to the hated, you have no reason to hate the hated thing if you are to love the thing that was lovable and now is identical to the thing you hate (sorry that is very confusing). If you love everyone, despite how hateful and wicked some are, then you must be prepared to love someone despite what condition they become later. If not, you only love them on the condition that they do not become something that you hate (which is actually conditional though the standards for the conditions are loose).
If you are reading, can you reply and let me know if that makes sense?
I read in an above post that it may mean "as-is". That works for me except that it is conditional (that you don't change). You don't expect them to change, but if they do change, you can't guarantee you will love them. I think in the end the word "unconditional" is thrown around very loosely and it actually just means a standard that is much lower than is conventional among peers. -

For Those Who Donate Blood: Do You Feel It's Your Duty
by Nosferatu intoday, i decided to go donate blood for the second time ever.
it's really weird.
i don't normally volunteer for anything, but i happily volunteer to donate blood.

I just did this for the first time a recently. I didn't really feel it was my 'duty' per se, but I did feel it was the right thing to do. Even JW's will take blood fractions, and that has to come from blood. So I felt great about giving it. It was relatively painless (hurt less than having blood drawn for blood test at the doctor's). I will do it again, but I probably will not be one of those every 8-week type of donors. Who knows, maybe I will. It feels good to know that you may have saved somebody's life.

How Many Here Have Voted Since You've Left The Religion?
by minimus ini know a few that have recently registered.
what about choo?
-
LayingLow
I just registered a few weeks ago. At first I thought, "Hey, I'm going to throw my vote away by not voting, so I might as well vote for an independent like Barr. He'll never win, and then the other parties will know that I'm protesting their candidates by 'throwing my vote away' on an independent." So I registered as a "No Party" voter, and look forward to exercising that in November.

I have a relative who will not purchase anything used, on Ebay, or otherwise. If it is pre-owned, it will not enter their house. Occasionally, a purge will take place where she will go through belongings and throw things out. The zeal behind these purges seem to be random, but never without the thought that they are rational.

The Loyalty Question
by choosing life inhow many here have been asked the loyalty question by an elder.
i am referring to, "do you believe that jehovah is using the faithful and discreet slave class to accomplish his work?
" or something along this line?.

PO: Do you believe that the faithful and discreet slave is led by God?
Me: Absolutely (Since I believe that all Christians are anointed and that all anointed Christians that are judged as faithful and discreet must have been led by God)
PO: Do you believe we have authority as your elders? (Tricky, yes-> JC, no-> DA)
Me: I believe that I should accept the authority of all who meet the qualifications in 1 Tim 3. If you feel that you meet those qualifications, then sure. -

"Apostates " are sex degenerates.!!!!
by hamsterbait ini noted with anger the post about the dc where one of the speakers claimed that people who become apostate are involved in immoral conduct of some kind.. this goes down in the same list of stupidity as the statement that "apostates claim to have greater wisdom than the faithful and discreet slave" - as v pointed out they do not claim greater wisdumb, they simply disagree.. i began doubting and questioning not only after finding out about how the witchtower had lied about carbon dating, but their lies about the creative days, finding out how chinas written history goes back to before the flood, yet never mentions how the chinese were all drowned - and how the wt lies and misrepresents "evidence" for their assertions.. excuse me witchtower - but my genitals had nothing to do with seeing through the lies and deceit, and yes hypocrisy.. of course once started on that road i read more and became less convinced than ever of their claims to be gods only channel.. maybe soon i shall get the chance to become a moral degenerate, than it will prove everthing the borg claims about people like us to be true.. in the meantime stop slinging mud and insulting my integrity.. hb.

Interestingly, I know people that were sexual degenerates after leaving the WT. Oddly enough, they are not the apostates. They are the true believers who walk around with a death complex because they believe they will be destroyed at any second so who gives a shit. Then, they run around self-destructing because the group told them that is what happens to those who leave. Currently, I'm working with family and friends who have this mindset. It's unbelievable how much control the WTS exerts over people, even in an opposite way.
I've started calling them the walking dead, not to their faces. It's just a complex, but it's so terribly destructive. The true apostates know it is b.s. and move on (with some likely becoming sexual degenerates but surely not all, nor most). -

One World Religion
by cameo-d indo you think it is a good thing or a bad thing?.
will it solve the world's problems?.
do you believe it can happen?.

If it is an invention of man, then it would be terrible. If it is an intervention from God, it would be grand. I don't see how any one religion could convince all others of its being correct without forced conversion (bad). So if it were to be correct, and non-coercive, it would have to be from God and in a manner that is clearly discernable to all. I do think it will happen.

True.. When it first started, I thought that it was WTBTS production. The musical score and the narrators voice as well. Maybe the WTS copied them.. Who knows.
