Theredeemer, those are excellent questions. And it is better to have some of the questions than all of the answers. Calling God a liar because he told man what was appropriate for our level of knowledge in Moses' time is no different than us getting called liars for telling our kids about Santa Claus. What an arrogant judgment! Some kids hold on to the belief in Santa Claus even for a little while after their parents tell them there is no Santa Claus.

Pope says Big bang and Evolution are correct !
by Phizzy infrom the u.k independent newspaper :.
" the theories of evolution and the big bang are real and god is not a magician with a magic wand, pope francis has declared.. speaking at the pontifical academy of sciences, the pope made comments which experts said put an end to the pseudo theories of creationism and intelligent design that some argue were encouraged by his predecessor, benedict xvi.. francis explained that both scientific theories were not incompatible with the existence of a creator arguing instead that they require it.. when we read about creation in genesis, we run the risk of imagining god was a magician, with a magic wand able to do everything.
but that is not so, francis said.. he added: he created human beings and let them develop according to the internal laws that he gave to each one so they would reach their fulfilment.. the big bang, which today we hold to be the origin of the world, does not contradict the intervention of the divine creator but, rather, requires it.. evolution in nature is not inconsistent with the notion of creation, because evolution requires the creation of beings that evolve.. the catholic church has long had a reputation for being anti-science most famously when galileo faced the inquisition and was forced to retract his heretic theory that the earth revolved around the sun.. but pope franciss comments were more in keeping with the progressive work of pope pius xii, who opened the door to the idea of evolution and actively welcomed the big bang theory.

New Article on BEARDS and Attire of Jehovah's Witnesses
by jwfacts ini have had requests to add an article about beards and jehovah's witnesses.
it is interesting that there is virtually no statement that says a witness cannot have a beard, yet universally they do not have beards.
i have scoured quotes from all the threads on jwn, all references to beard on the cd watchtower library, and copies of elders letters that i have.

Proof that JWs aren't the people of God
1. Clean shavenness
2. Kingdom Songs are so trite, that I know if i were Jehovah, they would either make me sad or make me feel like sending a plague.
3. Higher Education Forbidden
4. Unbaptized Children denied life saving Medical Care
5. Disfellowshipping

Do all Christians/JWs/Mormons really believe the characters in the Bible were good as gold?
by booker-t inone thing i have always felt even as a devout jws was that some of the bible characters were probably scandelous like anybody else.
how do we know there was not a good amount of adultery, homosexuality, fornacation, drunkardness, wife swapping, etc; religous people always try to make it seem that some of these people slipped up a few times and was "perfect" forevermore until they died.
how do we know peter was not in an adulterous affair, or that paul was not engaged in homosexuality.

The moral failings of the characters of the Bible are such that it seems as if everyone in the Bible would be disfellowshipped if they were alive today.

When Valspeak, Ebonics, and Spanglish are mixed together, California will finally be able to take her place among the nations as a country with its own language.

When my wife accused me of hating that these kids love being in the Truth as my motivation for wanting them to go to college, I said that if they are going to be Jehovah's Witnesses I want them to be JW lawyers so they can pimp the WT instead of the WT pimping them.

Yes dubs can have beards provided they don't speak before the congregation. My gut feeling to "never trust a clean shaven salesman" has served me well my entire life.

Was the Biblical Canon Directed by God?
by Chris Tann inthis is a question a sincere christian may agonize over after learning that some books of the bible were rejected by certain early christian groups, while other books that did not make the canon were accepted.
also, when one realizes that so called inspired writers of the greek scriptures quote from apocrypha, that most christians reject today, one wonders if these writings that include these quotes should even be in the bible.. it is true that when it comes to the christian greek scriptures the canon has been closed for many centuries.
also, these books have been accepted by christians ever since the second, perhaps first, century.

The Biblical Canon was directed by God IN ETHIOPIA.
When James Bruce returned to Scotland from Ethiopia with a copy of the complete Book of Enoch, it was the biggest news for Churchmen in ages! but it didn't change the Presbyterian Canon. A change in Canon necessarily involves an admission of not having had the whole truth. The biggest challenge for any Organized Religion is for it to admit it was wrong about anything. Who wants to pay their tithes to a Sorry Chirch?
