Time to criticize another religion: Islam
by SonoftheTrinity inplease understand i have nothing against islam.
i have something against alpha muslim men.. i was walking my cute little chihuahua mix in the park the other day when darts off sniffing since i am using a retractable extension leash and i am not minding the fact that he comes up on a muslim family and gets within a foot of them.
the paterfamilias gives me a dirty look and then says something to his wife and i can make out the word "saif" which is arabic for "sword.

Simon you don't understand that Gulf Arabs hate dogs because Abu Hurayra (lit. Father of the Kitties) who was one of the Prophet's companions and wrote many of the Sunni hadiths, was a cat person. Cats are dirtier than dogs IMHO. He taught that if a dog is in your house the angels won't bless it. But this guy was a cat hoarder. His mosque was overrun with stray cats that he fed. He was also a misogynist. The Shia don't have a problem with dogs because they were his enemies, even the Maliki school don't have a problem with dogs. This individual I almost had a confrontation with was not Indonesian but rather a Gulf Arab Salafi. I speak Arabic, and familiarity breeds contempt. My neighborhood is full of Arab Christian refugees making the Salafi Muslim Arabs about as popular as the North Vietnamese were in the Vietnamese refugee community when I was a child. In any case they have to conform to our cultural expectations if they are in our country, otherwise they are just ungrateful. Multiculturalism must necessarily have limits in any nation. If you don't like Americans' dogs you don't like America. -

Simon, you have a point. Not everybody is a dog lover. And my prejudices were colored by the beheadings in Libya on that day. Hate begets hate. I have Muslim friends and I know not all Muslims are like that.
Anyway, Simon, for an immigrant to be fully accepted as an American, they have to like dogs. America is a dog centered culture. Just look at Cesar Millan, where would he be if he hated dogs?
Google Dogs and Islam. There are a lot of conflicts in Europe between dog lovers and Muslims.

I was about to get all rednecky on him but my better angels prevailed, I gave him a screw you very much smile, and just walked. Mind you this is one day after Islamic State terrorists in Libya beheaded 21 Coptic Christian. So while I smile and walk away, my ancestors' crusader blood is boiling within me. I don't care if dogs are unclean in Islam. They are in my country, so they should conform to American conventions of treating animals.

I have a feeling they are going to put two and two together one day and convert part of the bethel into an accredited college that is the only the most elite Jehovah's Witnesses are allowed to attend, and charge up the nose for it. I suspect that is one of the big changes. No skilled workers, no money;no money, no bethel. This whole no higher education thing is a bait and switch. -

Your body of elders - were they liberal, conservative or moderate?
by minimus inin my first kingdom hall, the elders were ultra conservative.
our presiding overseer used to be a zone overseer.
the second hall i was in was moderate.

I believe my wife is loyal to this congregation because they are more liberal, even though she is an Uber. I couldn't believe that they played Monsters University at a Children's get-together. I can't stand the Jehovah's Witnesses stand on education but even I think college fraternities are bad association. I was told that they let the children choose the movie, but it was still bizarre to be there for kid's movie night with such a "worldly" kid's movie playing. -

Judge Rutherford did not know he was under the New Covenant in... 1929
by objectivetruth inthe new covenant is the single most important, claim to fame that jehovah's witnesses (the governing body) have.
in the 2014 watchtower 10/15 "you will become a kingdom of priests" the watchtower says the following :.
"by means of the new covenant, both jews and uncircumcised gentiles would have an equal opportunity to be heirs of gods kingdom, because their circumcision is that of the heart by spirit and not by a written code.

Yes designs but Christian Zionism is the other extreme which puts the ideology of Zionism before the human rights of Palestinians, including Christian Palestinians. Christians need to be balanced in these matters as since God is not partial, neither should his people.

My stepson is addicted to science shows. I told him that cartoons make you stupid but documentaries make you smart when he was about four, and I guess he took me a little too seriously. He shuts down when family bible interrogation starts. -

Catholics admit failure - Wake up WTS
by berrygerry inrome (ap) pope francis' point man on clerical sex abuse said monday the failure of the catholic church to punish bishops who covered up for pedophiles had seriously harmed its credibility and that it must now lead the way by "humbly making the commitment to accountability, transparency and zero tolerance.
"cardinal sean o'malley, archbishop of boston, said canon lawyers and theologians were reviewing proposals to present to the pope on holding bishops and religious superiors accountable.
the proposals were developed by francis' commission of experts, which o'malley chairs and includes two survivors of abuse.. ....

I think they should get a 100% tax break for not having pedophilia, money laundering, elder abuse, child abuse, animal cruelty, human trafficking, etc., etc. scandals. If they fail, tax them. That would be a policy the Watchtower, and all religious corporations would understand. -

JW Children - We're normal, and have fun at conventions, etc.
by berrygerry inwas reading a poster's experience with custody, and the info in wts child custody packet.. children are prepped to present themselves as normal, with school friendships, hobbies, activities, etc.
and not to mention that their life-goal is to pioneer.. the school brochure (1983) contains this gem:.
"they [witness families] also travel several times each year to attend larger gatherings called circuit assemblies and district conventions.

Na nananana I'm the unbelieving husband who is the only one with a drivers license! I can make sure the vacation spirit infects a convention visit. Bwahahahaha! -

Why I became agnostic after leaving the Watchtower
by donny inone of many things that led me to agnosticism after leaving the jw's was the cognitive dissonance i encountered with those in the mainstream churches, especially the really conservative ones.
these types would scream out in protest (rightly so) on all of the current atrocities going on in the world regarding islam and its radical extremists, but then justify the savage murders and slaughter perpetuated by israel in the old testament.. often i would take these passages and replace the names and places of these scriptures with current ones.
for example 1 samuel 15:3 reads "now go, attack the amalekites and totally destroy all that belongs to them.

If Jesus were alive today, he would be hanging out with homeless Jewish Christians who got cast out by their bourgeois parents somewhere in the San Fernando valley, turning bottles of Two Buck Chuck into Kristall. BTW did anybody see Black Jesus on Cartoon Network?
I went back to the Orthodox Church after 7 years of being married to my wife and ashamed to show my face. I am attending for Lent. I have a lot of baggage to let go of, so I need a purge.
Deep down though My priest would probably say I have become an antinomian.
Deep in my heart,I believe in Christianity, but not Churchianity. I hate the empty suits no matter what the religion. If I were to preach I would probably continue my Nazarite vow but also do stunts like dress up all Twisted Sister only with my bushy beard to illustrate that America has whored out herself to Israel and Saudi Arabia. The prophets of The Bible were Patriotic Shock Jocks who ritually violated Jewish law to make a point, as did Jesus himself. Generation Y communicates everything through irony, afterall. A true preacher of God should violate norms to wake people up. Not knock on doors or produce a cheesy tv show being as nonthreatening as possible while promoting a totalitarian ecclesiolatrous religion. In this reality TV world they are as distracted as the people of Israel were in Christ's time. That understanding is sorely lacking from the pulpit. Gene Scott perhaps understood this, but he was a greedy megalomaniacal narcissist who abused that niche.
