  not sure how wide spread this is, but from my social media land i saw 2 separate videos, from two halls in completely different towns featuring their kids having a demonstration on the service meeting (i am guessing last night as i didn't go).

  these kids are really young!

  maybe this was just a coincidence at first i thought it was the same video then realized theses people live hundreds of miles apart.

  Funny you talked about TV in your OP. JWs banning the Smurfs might be something you remember. I think it has something to do with everytime the smurfs leave smurf village something bad happens. Same thing with the Hobbits and Lord of the Rings. JWs are little people who punish anyone who leaves their little smurf village to grow a beard and go on adventures.

  As funny as they look, the Sikh religion is one of the more rational faiths out there. Except maybe for the belief that dying on the job is the most honorable way to go out and a one way ticket to Nirvana. Sure beats the protestant work ethic. Their turbans beards and 'staches are awesome, the diaper fat breeches sometimes worn underneath their pants not so much. It seems like a dharmic religion that isn't for girlie men.

  Ah, yes, but it is Rasta music blasting out of cars and in the bars praising JAH. No one but the Rastas is praising JAH in music wherever there is an amplifier. While the little empty suit baldheads go from house to house like Saul causing disturbances. I hope they repent like Saul did!

  What is amazing is how types and antitypes led to serious doctrinal changes and exclusivism. A true Christian will see Christ in Cyrus and in all Gentiles who hunger and thirst after righteousness, thus negating the need to judge the religions of others. It is sad to see it work a closing of minds.

  there's a current court case in ny which is hearing that question right now.

  the precise issue is the continued captivity of two chimpanzees, (leo and hercules, names bestowed by humans) in a medical research laboratory at stony brook university.. i suggest that the application has some merit.

  Their habitats certainly deserve more respect on the one hand, but on the other hand, you can't put the interest of a handful of non-humans above a million humans in a developing country.

  And It isn't inconsistent to be opposed to gay marriage within the canons and hallowed halls of your own church and supportive of it within civil society. What is inconsistent with the Jehovah's Witness religion is to have a political consciousness in the first place. And seeing as the sociological definition of a marriage is a license to have children, gay marriages will continue to be viewed as second class marriages by most adoption agencies in the world for at least the next century. The gay marriage issue is a big fuss over nothing, although I don't think anyone under 25 should be allowed to enter into a same-sex or polygamous marriage. And I don't like the idea of same-sex marriages of convenience for straight people for immigration purposes. Like it or not homophobia is natural and instinctual and most young immigrants from the developing world will view gay marriage as worthy of mockery. It would be just too convenient.
