There would be more Christadelphians, and therefore fewer poor people living on the edge using 'the Devil made me do it' excuse.

How would the world be different if there were no JWs?
by JW_Rogue ini think this would be a great question to ask active jws.
they love to say how the world would be so different if everyone was a jw.
however, what if we flip the question and ask, would the world really be much different if the jw faith never came into existence?

Feel like starting a New Ministry! True Bible Students
by SonoftheTrinity ini think studying the king james bible, and the jacobean flavored translations of the apocrypha and pseudipigrapha, whether you believe in them or not, is an essential part of being a culturally rooted english speaker.
i used to belong to an organization that advocated reading a chapter a day, but had no actual faith requirement to be a member.
20c a week and read the kjv a chapter a day, no lifestyle requirement, no doctrinal litmus test.

I think studying the King James Bible, and the Jacobean flavored translations of the Apocrypha and Pseudipigrapha, whether you believe in them or not, is an essential part of being a culturally rooted English speaker. I used to belong to an Organization that advocated reading a chapter a day, but had no actual faith requirement to be a member. 20c a week and read the KJV a Chapter a Day, no lifestyle requirement, no doctrinal litmus test. This was purportedly what the angel told the brother that founded this organization to do.
I have been going through a crisis of faith, and I watched Penn saying that reading the Bible, Torah, or Quran will make you an atheist. And as I see it, that's okay, as long as it makes you ethically conscious. If it makes you ethically and spiritually conscious and culturally rooted then it has done its job. The New Testament teaches that the Torah was a schoolmaster, but that now that we are alumni, we need no schoolmaster.
I don't want to fellowship with believers as much as I want to fellowship with serious Bible students.
I now believe that the Bible is like Yoga. You don't have to believe in it, but you have to practice it. Faith without works is dead, and Praxy always trumps Doxy in real life.
I feel like putting on a stupid suit, or at least a dressy Guayabera for the summer heat, and going from house to house to spread that message, so that I can fellowship with people who care about truth with no definite article or capital T, because I believe in that with as much conviction as much as any brain dead dub.

Political Correctness
by snugglebunny ini think i'm just ornery when it comes to equality.
ever since i can remember, i've always believed that all people were created equal.
the colour of a person's skin is irrelevent to me.

You have the Traditional Leftism on your college campuses, Veterans with PTSD returning to those college campuses to cash in on their GI money, and one veteran who just killed a bunch of police officers. Trigger warnings should come as no surprise. As much as I hate to say it, Political Correctness is a necessary un-American evil. And both candidates are greasier than a couple of bisexual Turkish oil wrestlers. Take that Political Correctness!

What comes to mind when I think about the Paradise scenario. Wayward Pines, Ishmael the Gorilla's critique of civilization, and the Last Man on Earth. Too much Hulu, I admit it.
With Ishmael the Gorilla, the sin really got bad when Cain (Agricultural Man) slew Seth (Pastoral Man). To truly have faith in God, mankind must forsake the inheritance of Cain and sedentary civilization. Which is why the Abbies in Wayward Pines are better than people. The Last Man on Earth drifts betweem boring and hilarious which is what life would be like if 99% of humanity were dead.

My son just got a serious job offer
by Captain Schmideo2 inand it looks like he will be accepting it.he will be teaching english as a second language in shenzhen, china.
it's with a company that works with the public school system out there.his salary includes an apt (most likely shared) that has utilities and internet included, and looking at cost of living (after the rent he isn't paying) it looks like he will be able to put money aside every month.not bad for a kid his age-travel to the other side of the globe, meet new people, get paid, and get experience.
i am going to miss him..

Great, he'll be able to afford a maid who spies for the CCP. If I wanted to sacrifice my freedom to teach English abroad, the money is bigger and faster in the Gulf States. -

DOUBLESPEAK and DOUBLETHINK among the WatchTower leaders and followers
by TerryWalstrom indoublethink and doublespeak.
doublespeak among the leaders of the watchtower1.
jehovah has worked through one organization only to serve spiritual food at the “proper time.” (wt 1/15/88 p22).

He appeared as regent in the personality of His Imperial Majesty Emperor Haile Selassie of Ethiopia who warned the League of Nations of the dangers of the Antichrists Hitler, Mussolini, and Tojo, and if they had listened to him WWII could have been avoided. I think its time I start convincing Dubs that the timing was right but it was a case of mistaken identity. I'm not saying the Rastafarian interpretation is correct, but that it is 1000 times more plausible than the Governing Body as being anointed by Jehovah.

I conclude evolution is guided
by KateWild inyour qualifications are way above mine so i'd love to hear more about the specifics of what you have researched and how that supports the existence of a deity.
k99, i am not really convinced that you're interested in my conclusions.

I am no scientist but after having taken Physical Anthropology in college concluded that if creationism is true and evolution is false, then the creator planted false evidence to test our faith and that would not be a God worthy of worship. So I choose to view the creation narrative as one of a loving Father telling a tall tale....does that make God a liar? Only if you see the world in black and white, which is all that some small minds can handle. People who go to church selfishly wanting simple answers and miracles. I have only pity for such people, but not respect.

For those that carry on as JWs secretly not believing.....
by snare&racket inmy heart goes out for all people stuck in all high control groups, either with insight into the falsehood of their beliefs or none.. to remain a member whilst knowing it false however, must be soul destroying.. my question is, would you carry on living the lie if you discovered that we get one life, one go at existing.
it's short, it's fragile and nobody in 100 years will care we even existed..... .......if you came to that realisation would you quit?.
.......if you had children, would you leave in order to set them an example in strength and appreciation of the short time we enjoy?.

It is always my most profound hope that the Jehovah's Witnesses could do a 180 and truly reform in the same way as the The Worldwide Church of God reformed into Grace Fellowship International. Believe it or not it is possible for an abusive cult to reform itself and go legit, you just need enough people in leadership positions who don't swallow the Kool-Aid.

CAN you remain Human and be a Jehovah's Witness?
by TerryWalstrom intwo ball bearings manufactured at the same time, in the same factory, by rigorous engineering standards, and produced to serve the same function inside a particular machine.. question: are they identical?.
the practical test of identity is separateness which identifies some reason for a rational distinction our mind demands!.
you can replace one ball bearing with any other ball bearing of the same batch.

A good question to throw at Jehovah's Witnesses is 'Do Jehovah's Witnesses have souls?' to which the standard dub answer is, 'a person doesn't have a soul, a person is a soul.' which is a semantic redefinition and evasion of the original question.
